What's interesting is that per the Act they aren't considered victims. Yet the court deemed them so:

" The Victim Rights Amendment states:
Any person who is a victim of a criminal act or such person’s designee, legal guardian, or surviving immediate family members if such person is deceased, shall have the right to be heard when relevant, informed and present at all critical stages of the criminal justice process. All terminology, including the term “critical stages” shall be defined by the general assembly (Article II, Section l6A Colorado State Constitution)."

Victim Rights Act (VRA) | Division of Criminal Justice

They've certainly been treated as victims. Given notice of proceedings and plea deals and transported to hearings. Etc.

But they don't fall within the definition. Unless in-laws are considered "immediate family"?
Could they be possibly be considered surviving immediate family members to the grandchildren since their mother is deceased and their father is in jail?

I hate to quote my own post, but this has me so curious. Does anyone else think the Watts filing the order for victims rights for paternal grandparents might actually have something to do with them not being heard during the plea agreement?
It should be about how they're effected by CW's crimes. The devastation it's caused in their lives, the heartbreak they feel for the loss of their much loved grandchildren, what they'll miss about each one and waking up every day without them in their lives is hard to bare, and that CW should pay the consequences for his actions. They could give a mention to Shanann too but I'm not expecting it, it's their call to make.

It shouldn't be about them or CW being the victims of the justice system! (I'm not saying they'd dare do such thing but if they did, it's beyond shocking and it'll never be read out anyway.)

Resented, feared, or a combination of the two.

Perhaps the murder of Shanann was CW projecting his anger towards his mother on SW.

We see that type of thing with serial killers, who share similar traits apparently exhibited by CW.

Narcissistic sociopaths.

Yes! I think he's lived with pent up anger for years. I would love to hear from his past girlfriends and how mom felt about them and them about her.

What are the odds of Mrs. Watts even mentioning Nico.

And here I was expecting a quiet week before sentencing. I pray there are no more "bombshells" before Monday. So pleased though to have heard from NK. It was absolutely the right time for her to come forward IMO.

I don't think he has any past girlfriends. Not before Shanann.

Actually, I don’t think there were any. Shanann, may have been the first.

It would certainly be interesting if there were any past relationships though.

Zero. She hasn't mentioned him yet except once to say that Christopher never wanted him.

Well that's just weird. Where is he in the birth order, does anyone know?

CW also told police he didn't murder the girls and his parents believe he was telling the truth. I really don't understand all the bashing of the grandparents. JMO
Have you read any of their latest interviews? Before CW's parents publicly bashed their murdered daughter-in-law, most people pitied them and considered them victims. When you decide to make critical and accusatory public statements about a murder victim, you cannot expect the public not to have opinions about it. Jmo

The vitriol dripping off Mother Watts' tongue when she spoke of Shanann on national tv made me ill. Her son murdered a helpless pregnant woman and she has the gall to badmouth her? Sickening. Tone deaf, just like sonny boy.
Edited to moo.

since Ashleigh Banfield is now gone, is there any National television show that is covering this case on a regular basis? Or just HLN occasionally on different shows?

What I sm referring too is in her interviews when they were called and told there was going to be a hearing and he was going to plead guilty they had the 30 minute visit with Chris. Cindy said when she tried to ask him if the plea was what he wanted the attorney shut her down saying cut that sh#t out or something to that effect. Now she is saying she did get to ask him if it he wanted to take the plea and he told her they is what he wanted to do. I understand she is desperate to try to change the situation but when will the lies ever stop?
Seems to me that Cindy forgot that her 30 minute visit with CW was recorded, and it did not go down as she recounted to the Judge, and/or broadcast to the wold!

She obviously refreshed her memory or recalled a few things......

Doesn't explain the murders of his children though, in any way that I can comprehend.

That's not what Cindy said. She made it quite clear she wants her son to tell her what happened and if he did kill the girls to explain why he told his dad that SW killed the girls. Cindy made it quite clear she would prefer to hear this from her son PRIOR to sentencing. I don't believe her request is unreasonable at all. JMO

She can want and ask all she wants. And as a mom I would want to know too. But she has no rights to this.

He's a grown man.

I still don’t understand how CW could murder his wife and children without some sign of blood or bodily fluids. Racking my brains on that one as he would not have had time for a clean up.
When NUA called police, and CW blew lights to get home, they called in Detectives and both searched the house. No evidence of foul play was found on the bedding as stated in the arrest affidavit.

Maybe a sedative or some type of drug to put them out?? That is what is sounds like to me....I am in the pharma industry.

According to the VI he had one relationship before Shanann. But I do believe his wife was the first serious one. Jmo
