It is very immature behaviour and to do it publicly is more immature and selfish.

Yes. I've been on the receiving end of a family member's complicated grief. I took a ton of verbal abuse from the person because she was lashing out and I was an easy target at the time. It wasn't right. It was wrong. It was immature, uncalled for, and personally offensive to me. I did not lash out in retaliation, though. Part of me knew she was misplacing her emotions. I also think she has a borderline personality disorder as well, but she'll never see a doctor. Never. There's nothing wrong with her in her own mind.
So, no, I do not buy into the theory that lashing out at an innocent person or at a victim is okay. It's mean and hurtful and an adult should be able to exercise some self-control and most of all, empathy.
