I believe SW family statement says it best.

Their statement reads:

“Shanann Watts was a faithful wife, and the most gentle and loving mother in the world to her children Bella, Celeste, and Nico. She was also the best daughter any parent could ever hope for. Shanann was a wonderful soul.

Everyone who knew Shanann knows this to be true. Even Chris Watts knows this to be true. Yet Chris Watts still chose to murder Shanann, Bella, Celeste, and Nico. Chris Watts still chose to dump the bodies of his own family in oil tanks. And Chris Watts still chose to lie about it until he could lie no more. He pled (sic) guilty to murdering his family because he is guilty. BBM

Monday evening, the parents of Chris Watts gave an interview in which they attempted to defend their son. In doing so, they felt the need to make vicious, grotesque and utterly false statements about Shanann. Their false statements, however hurtful and inaccurate, will never alter the truth about Shanann, and will never alter the truth about the crimes committed by their son, Chris Watts.

Shanann’s memory and reputation deserves to be protected. And her family is fully prepared to do so.”

Thank you for re-posting this. My continued deepest sympathy to SW's family and friends, and SW's family has my utmost respect for the way they've handled these horrible murders.

I think your point about the mother/ son dynamic and being parallel to his relationship with Shanann is significant. He married an assertive, powerful woman like his mother. He eventually came to resent her, as he may have subconsciously resented and hated his mothers control all his life. There is a lot of research about murderers who kill women who had serious issues with their mothers during the inportant years of development. It can definitely play a role in cases like this. Ultimately he is finally taking out all his aggression and revenge on his wife, who he associates with his mother. Now his wife is gone and he seemingly wants nothing more to do with his mother, as if she is now out of the picture too. Imo
I think it's a very good theory, the thing is, there's lots of sons who have these issues with their mother and don't resort to murder. There's one more layer to this and I wonder what it is? Is it some pathological disorder which was inherited? Was there a traumatic incident from his childhood where he felt he wasn't protected by his mother?
No excuses for what CW did but it's hard to think it came from nowhere, he actually believed in his head annihilating his family was a solution.

So, he wasn't on his way or in the airport?
Sorry, I was basing my statement off of one of Cindy’s interviews, Seattle is correct, he was at the airport.

NUA knew something was wrong. NK knew something was wrong. The Thayers knew something was wrong. All immediately contacted LE. LE seemed to know something was wrong from the get-go. Immediately after the first interview, and after ALL interviews, there was doubt in CW's story and a lot of speculation about the truth. So, who did CW think he was fooling?

It appears only his mummy and daddy, to this day.:D
CW's mother's interviews suggest this even now.
Let us wait for her 'victim statement' and see what she believes.

Reportedly, CW collected his Dad at the airport on Wednesday, and after interrogation, with Dad waiting at the police station, CW was arrested just before midnight. Dad was waiting in airport when CW asked permission to speak to him, promising to tell the truth, if permission granted. Nonetheless, I find it very telling that Dad didn't go out seeking an Attorney for his son-- believed not guilty of murdering his children, but instead went directly home! IMO, if he had no doubt that CW was telling the truth, I think he would have helped him locate a defender. MOO

In the mean time, did CW's dad, seek advice?
Hasn't it been stated here, that CW'd Dad had some connection with the Law?
I think, a few pages back.
So why did CW want to speak to Dad again: to obtain this advice!!!!
MOO.

I think that it is about 4am Tuesday morning for EDT.
Are you in Qld?
Yes, sunny S.E QLD. My internet dropped out Saturday so I'm standing on 1 leg, leaning out the window trying to get reception on my phone. Only 1 hour from Brissie and it's getting worse. Ahh technologyo_O

Ok, just to be clear, was there only one trip to and from the airport? Not that it's a huge deal, but I thought some posts indicated that there was one trip in which CW was silent, and then after speaking to LE and his dad was on the way home, he was called back and CW left to pick him up again. From Seattle's post I gathered he only picked him up once, after he had began talking to LE, then after he picked him up and talked to him went back to the police station and confessed. Is that right? I always thought his dad was already waiting at the station when CW asked to speak to him.

Regarding the victim impact statements.... a question for our awesome lawyers. Is the judge actually ever swayed by these? Is the judges mind already made up as far as what the sentence handed down will be....or..... in your experience or knowledge are judges sometimes swayed enough by these statements to change their sentence? TIA
The plea agreement recognizes the Court has the final say, but I see NO extenuating circumstances where the court would not agree with the DA's advice for imposing consecutive, statutory LWOP for the murder charges. The judge still has to impose sentence on the tampering of deceased body charges which do have a range of years for punishment, but really won't make any difference. MOO

It should be 3am for you then, without daylight savings. I think.

Not sure what I am doing with quoted posts lately, but this is response to the Aussie hanging out the window on one leg.

Yes, it would definitely be more complex than the single notion that his mom was controlling. There may be a genetic disposition for a mental disorder and a combination of environmental factors. This will be an interesting case study for psychologists. Maybe one day we will read a book about it, like in Scott Peterson's case and many others. Imo

I know that a lot of us have felt so deeply connected to Shanann, Bella, CeCe and Nico and this case. My husband says I'm obsessed and I guess I am. I'm sure part of it for me is living here but I also feel like there is something more, like something i'm supposed to know, or learn or help with. Does anybody else feel like that? I've been interested in true crime my whole life and have always kept up on it but I've never felt so personally affected or connected. From the day they went missing, they've been on my mind and in my heart constantly. I even dreamed that I was Shanann and I ran and hid in the bedroom because I was afraid of Chris. I'm so looking forward to answers and healing for her family, friends and all of us who have been so passionately fighting on her behalf!

(I’ve been dreaming about Shanann and the Watts too. Last two days especially. I get it, JEM1975.)

I keep thinking there will be some type of drama that comes out today/last minute, but maybe we’re just ... at the end, and there is nothing left. Until tomorrow I mean.

There's so much to this! I know Shanann was not a saint but she was a good person. This could make CW hate her even more because he and his mama couldn't paint Shanann as the 'bad guy' no matter how hard they tried. CW supporters attempted to help them with dissecting Shanann's fb videos, to no avail. smh

No, you have my post wrong. My post clarified that CW collected his Dad at airport, and they went directly to the police station, where they remained. CW was never again to leave since he was arrested that night.

Am I right about SW being very upset with CW's mom for leaving nuts out where one of the girls who had a severe allergy could get them. Who does that? Thanksgiving we r having a child present with the same problem no way will anything with nuts be around.

...the calm before the storm....

This is CW's Mum's last chance, before sentencing.
If she acts, as in the interviews, she will be 'all out there'.
MOO.
