It would make sense to me if she did at least suspect an affair, and I think she definitely discussed taking the girls back to NC with her to live there without her carousing and no-longer-caring husband. She knew something was brewing, I'm convinced of it. We know he was not as smart as he thought he was, so there's no telling what she may have overheard or saw that gave her a good reason to know something was happening with that slimeball.

The DA stated SW was aware of suspicious behaviour.
He spoke of credit card bills, at a North Denver Restaurant, when Shan'ann was in NC.
The DA stated the amounts of these, were far more than one person can consume.

PRESSER: (Parts only)

CW and NK

Rourke: There was everything from photographs of he and his girlfriend at the Great Sand Dunes in Southern Colorado during the time that Shan’ann was in NC. We knew that they had gone to museums together. They had gone to bars and restaurants together. Like i said this morning, he had done searches dealing with secluded vacation spots in Aspen that he was planning on apparently taking her to. He was researching jewellery. He was doing all that kind of research that you would think that somebody in a brand new relationship would be doing, but he was still married with two daughters and a son on the way.

I just loathe, detest, despise and, yes hate, this loathsome individual. OMG, there are just no words to describe what I think of him.

Wren: (Paraphrasing] Discusses the sheet and pillowcases in the trash can. Shan’ann had apparently been wrapped in one of the sheets and gone with her to the oil tank. It was found by the drone about the same time as he was being interviewed by the FBI and CBI. It was a key piece of evidence connecting the missing persons to him. This was prior to him confessing that he had taken the bodies there.

His reaction when confronted with this evidence

Wren: We were getting that information from the drone search at the same time that he was starting to give us more information about the nature of his relationship with Shan’ann and the problems they had been having. We were also getting, or the CBI and the FBI were also getting information this other relationship, the girlfriend, about the same time. So all of that was coming together. While they were talking to him, that information was being communicated to the investigators and they started confronti9ng him with that, and that’s ultimately when he changed direction with his story dramatically and asked to speak to his father briefly. And then told the interviewers that he was willing to tell them what happened, and ultimately that is when things changed and he admitted to dumping the bodies in the oil tanks.

Shorthand Notes/PC:

“With the cooperation of the Weld County Coroner the autopsy reports will be made available and become a public document..(being general due to respect for R family who is still present)...Part of the reason that we kept these sealed...wants to be very abundantly clear about this: “this does mean she consumed alcohol or that she was intoxicated”.

Forensic Toxicology testing indicated that (“consulted with Weld County Coroner’s office and forensic experts from CBI”), in “spleen blood”, BAL (“Blood Alcohol Level”) was .128 and “very very consistent with normal human decomposition based upon the location and the manner that Shanann and Nico’s bodies were buried”.

Well she was pregnant so I think that’s what they are getting at. I 100% don’t believe she drank.

And there were plenty of people with her that can attest to her not drinking at the restaurant or on the plane. DA clearly said that he wanted to be sure that people understood that she had not been drinking. Not that it will matter to some people.

That’s exactly why. I wasn’t sure when he called—I thought it might have been on the previous Friday and didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize premeditation evidence.

You are such a good friend. You did the right thing in holding that info back. Clearly it shows premeditation (JMO). *hugs*

I’ve seen both, but took the entire picture (underwear and no pants) into account.

I don’t know what was normal for her, but those sound like bedclothes as opposed to what she was wearing earlier.

But yes. We are getting a full rundown of what people sleep in.

Is it unusual that I sleep in a onesie?

Oh, my imagination just whirls!!! :D

What idiot would contact a realtor and talk to friends about selling their home the same day/next day as your family is missing? I just cannot get over how stupid he was.

Right? It was like, "La di dah!! Got rid of that issue now onto the next! Sell the home and I will have more money to woo my affair!"

I am so glad that the DA kept this under wraps. It would have been twisted and exploited to demonstrate that Shanann “went into a drunken rage and strangled her babies.”

God. Just thinking about something like this being used at trial, despite the fact that it is a normal part of the decomposition process.

The video I love most is Cece running in the rain in NC. And Bella leaning against her MaMa. They were happy that day and it shows how much Shan’ann loves her children.
It is my favorite video also. When the girls ventured out for a squirrel, their grandpa followed them. Concerned for their safety. He loved them so much.

Back to being serious, you know what I find particularly damning? CW in his life with SW very much seems like the passive partner. I've gotten a passive-aggressive vibe from him and posted about that before. It seems like all the work in the relationship--not just chores but also the maintenance of a relationship--was on her end. I've never gotten the impression that he put half as much effort into his wife and little girls as he did plotting their murder and his mistress getaway. It's not that he was incapable of taking charge or planning or making an effort. He just couldn't be bothered because he didn't want to.

Yep. I did find that a tad strange for the babies.... but then again it was August.
I think the girls were in those pajama dresses. They are basically long shirts. My girls have them and I’ve seen cece and Bella in pictures with them on too.

Sorry if this has been already addressed, but I'm way behind.
Were the autopsies sealed because the cod for the girls differed from the monster's confession?

If I understood the DA correctly, he said he asked for them to be sealed, partly because of the alcohol found in SW's body. He wanted the extra time to research the decomposition process with experts, to verify it was not from her drinking. He didn't want the public to get the wrong idea. JMO

He’s Scott Peterson, but dumber.

Excellent, MassGuy!! :D:cool:
If a True Crime TV show, or whatever they are called, airs about this murder case, the title should be:

"Family Murderer, Chris Watts --
Like Scott Peterson but Dumber"

That distressed me as well. I'm really, really hoping it was incidental as Celeste did not.

The cause of death was smothering. They were smothered to death.

Ha! We call them nighties as in nightdresses.

After reading the autopsy reports, I found nothing surprising in them.

The DA made us aware beforehand of the injuries to Bella, to include the mouth wound and scape on her backside.

Shanann died from strangulation. The kids died from asphyxiation. The bodies of the children were saturated in oil, to include their clothing.

The clothing is the most important part to me. It appears that all the victims were dressed for bed.

Thank you for this. I really did not want to read the autopsies unless absolutely necessary. And you spared me from that.

"Chris Watts, Family Murders -- He's Like Scott Peterson but Dumber"

Haaaaaaa

“Dumbass, The Crimes of Chris Watts.”

The same idiot that moves lawn furniture and goes to slumber party and chows down pizza the evening before he's arrested for brutally murdering his entire family.

The monster sounded very weak and meek when he said 'no sir'. He was only a tough guy when killing his baby girls and wife, when faced with men opponents, he wimps.

He doesn't want to die, so he plead. It had nothing whatsoever to do with saving the families any more grief. He knew he would be condemned to death and decided to save himself - like they all do. Coward.
