I thought it was interesting that investigators used psych ops against Chris in the interrogation. One investigator mentioned that Alexa Echo starts up when she hears tension.

As someone who has spent the last 2 days trying to get Alexa Echo setup for a blind friend, Alexa may record her own pummeling if she keeps hiding her setup navigation bar in her app from me. I tried to get Siri to help from his iPhone but apparently Siri and Alexa do not speak to each other.

I agree, and I found their interrogation techniques fascinating when it came to CW. I believe they quickly picked up on his need to be seen as a good guy at all costs...and continued to use that to their advantage to get him to make some confession (short of the truth...but something).

I saw one addressed to CHRISTEEN that the message was the opposite of "fan mail." I'm very sorry I do not have the page number. I cannot go back and look through those scary letters again.

I do not believe NK when she says in her Denver Post interview that CW told her he was finishing his divorce, and then that it was completed when he went to NC. Her interviews with LE/CBI do not reflect this. Moreover, her searches for marrying your mistress do not reflect this, either, IMO. I believe she was fully aware CW was still married but possibly separated within the same home and likely did not know his wife was pregnant until later. However, her searches of SW on Facebook in late July would have revealed the fact that she was pregnant, so I also believe she found this out before the family went missing, as she claimed to LE/CBI and the Denver Post. I found her lies to LE/CBI to be of poor character...it is serious and illegal to willfully lie to CBI particularly if she had nothing to do with the crimes CW perpetrated (which I believe she did not). Given that, I have no problem with the fact that details of her personal life have been exposed. IMO

CW's uses the same canned responses over and over to describe his kids (they're my whole world. I just want them to give me a bear hug.) But he actually makes several negative comments about them over the course of this. Calls them "bossy", says they scream a lot, and more.

It paints a disturbing picture of how he really felt about them.

Yes! And in his porch interviews when he is pretending to sell a story that his kids were missing he was also negative. His description of CeCe being a firecracker and saying he misses trying to get them to eat dinner (or something to that effect) and switching on the baby monitor. So random. Most people would be panicking and talking about how wonderful their kids are and the wonderful things they miss. But no I really picked up that he was pointing out things that actually annoyed him.

Then, later that night 7:00 Mr Watts asked by text if he could facetime w/the girls. That never happened (alledgedly because Bella might tell SW and she would go ballistic). That was around the same time SW asked Chris to send her pictures of the girls and he sent her pictures from earlier in the day.

I too go back and forth on who he snuffed out first, but still lean towards kids first.

On the other hand,

I don’t believe SW wore a bra to bed in PHX, NUA tells me the shirt she was found in is the one she was wearing on the plane ride home and SW never removed her makeup. If she was awake enough to order hair products as OCD as she was it’s unlikely she’s abandon her pre-bed routine. Which IMO points to her being awake when she was killed. I hate the thought, bit perhaps CW acted like he that to make love, got her in bed w/her pants off then straddled her and strangled her. For him to have killed the girls first in that scenario she would have bad to have limited her check on the girls to peeking in their room and looking at the baby monitor.

There’s also the report that SW’s credit card was declined when she tried to order hair products online after 2:00 in the morning. Could have caused her to challenge him about his recent credit card charges— and he decided ok, tonight is the night.

And I’m right back on the other side of the fence again. Can’t explain why, but I really want to know the order and hate that we probably never will.

Wouldn't her phone use have reflected her being on a site to order these products? I am wondering if she ordered them earlier and they were not attempted to be charged until ready to ship (like Amazon does) and/or perhaps they were on a subscription time order wherein she is sent her order every two months or something? Just a thought.

Yes. I want to take more time ad re-read the interrogation interviews and the CW's polygraph. Remember the part where the investigator's line of questioning to CW was something like , "So you lost a lot of weight and your body was in great shape. And yeah, you were cheating on Shanann and that's why you worked out so much. I get it"

I thought it was interesting that he basically used the same lines to LE/CBI/FBI regarding missing telling the kids what to eat (adding in them throwing chicken nuggets at him). It is such an odd "favorite" moment for a parent to recall out of the long potential list of things they miss about their children. Perhaps he thought it showed he took some responsibility of their care. But still he could have chosen...giving them baths, doing their hair, taking them places, etc. Telling your child to do what is good for them seems like an odd choice at best.

He did know that the girls were much more attached to SW than they were to him (could not even Factime with her when she was away as the girls would get too upset). I wonder if this factored into his decision to rid himself of them all as opposed to just SW. We will never know. IMO

off, she shouldn't be hurting for money.

I really don't get the rumors about NK's family being rich or him being CW's boss.
Her dad is middle management, working for a different company in a different industry.
But we really aren't supposed to sleuth family.

I don't know if this has been previously discussed, but I am curious as to why for the polygraph CW was only asked about what happened to SW. At the time, of course, they had no way of knowing he might try to blame the death of the children on SW, but I still was surprised he was not asked about each one of them, at least to get an idea if one had died of an accident first, etc. I just assumed before this document release that a polygraph would have included questions of each separately just to see if his deception would be the same for all. IMO

This very common. My sister and I did it. The actor, David Duchovny gave an interview once when his kids were little that pointed out this dilemma. They wanted to be with Tea Leoni, their mom, and had no interest in talking to him.

I was particularly saddened that he was already taking photos of flowers, presumably for his flora favoring mistress, while he was still at the site where he had just dumped his wife and children.

Do we have any idea why he opted to wear old clothes and old boots that day? I am assuming it was because he worried about the possibility of any leakage? Or just did not want to get them particularly dirty when digging? I assume the former since his job was dirty regardless. So he cared about his new boots.

***Did they ever locate the children's blankets and toys he took from the house that day? And did they locate the shovel? I skipped around the documents and did not see where they definitively recovered each of these. Thanks in advance!

This might be a stupid question, but would there be evidence....anything?.....that they would have found (on devices or anywhere else) that they can choose not to include in the discovery documents? Or must everything they have be included in those docs?

Yes. There were several texts and searches that NK did where the time was shown but content was marked “deleted” in red font. Which of course made me 10 times more interested in knowing what it originally said.

New documents in Chris Watts murder case reveal bizarre search histories of confessed family-killer and his new girlfriend
On July 24, Shannan sent Chris the following message:

“I realized during this trip what’s missing in our relationship! It’s only one way emotions and feelings. I can’t come back like this. I need you to meet me halfway. You don’t consider others at all, nor think about others feelings.” In response, Chris reportedly told Shannan he loved her.

“l try to give you space, but while you are working and living the bachelor life l’m carrying our 3rd and fighting with our two kids daily and trying to work and make money,” Shannan replied.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Chris had already begun an affair with co-worker by that time. The woman, Nichol Kessinger, recently gave an interview with the Denver Channel in which she said that Chris told her his divorce was final or near-final, and that she began to suspect he may have been involved in the disappearance of his wife and daughters after realizing that he had lied to her about his marriage, and also because he did not seem concerned enough that his family was missing.

According to the CBS News Denver report, investigators searched both Chris and his girlfriend’s phones for their search histories. Kessinger reportedly spent extensive time searching for the name “Shannan Watts” on her phone, in addition to searches of a sexual nature, seeking videos and information about sexual positions. Following the murders, Kessinger reportedly searched for the phrases “can cops trace text messages” and “people hate Amber Frey,” reportedly in reference to the mistress of Scott Peterson, who is now in prison for killing his pregnant wife. She also searched for information about Frey’s book deal, according to the documents obtained by the news station.
