Then, later that night 7:00 Mr Watts asked by text if he could facetime w/the girls. That never happened (alledgedly because Bella might tell SW and she would go ballistic). That was around the same time SW asked Chris to send her pictures of the girls and he sent her pictures from earlier in the day.

I too go back and forth on who he snuffed out first, but still lean towards kids first.

On the other hand,

I don’t believe SW wore a bra to bed in PHX, NUA tells me the shirt she was found in is the one she was wearing on the plane ride home and SW never removed her makeup. If she was awake enough to order hair products as OCD as she was it’s unlikely she’d abandon her pre-bed routine. Which IMO points to her being awake when she was killed. I hate the thought, but perhaps CW acted like he that to make love, got her in bed w/her pants off then straddled her and strangled her. For him to have killed the girls first in that scenario she would have bad to have limited her check on the girls to peeking in their room and looking at the baby monitor.

There’s also the report that SW’s credit card was declined when she tried to order hair products online after 2:00 in the morning. Could have caused her to challenge him about his recent credit card charges— and he decided ok, tonight is the night.

And I’m right back on the other side of the fence again. Can’t explain why, but I really want to know the order and hate that we probably never will.

Could CW have made that credit card purchase, so it is thought SW was alive at that time, not asleep or murdered?
Or as another Poster suggested, ordered previously, and only now recorded that
credit in the red.

I was particularly saddened that he was already taking photos of flowers, presumably for his flora favoring mistress, while he was still at the site where he had just dumped his wife and children.

Do we have any idea why he opted to wear old clothes and old boots that day? I am assuming it was because he worried about the possibility of any leakage? Or just did not want to get them particularly dirty when digging? I assume the former since his job was dirty regardless. So he cared about his new boots.

***Did they ever locate the children's blankets and toys he took from the house that day? And did they locate the shovel? I skipped around the documents and did not see where they definitively recovered each of these. Thanks in advance!

My thinking on the old clothing/boots was he planned to go home and dispose of all evidence including his clothing. He didn't want to throw out anything of his that was new!

But NA called the police and he had no time to follow through.

This very common. My sister and I did it. The actor, David Duchovny gave an interview once when his kids were little that pointed out this dilemma. They wanted to be with Tea Leoni, their mom, and had no interest in talking to him.

Yes, I did not mean to imply she was the better parent or that something was substandard about his care that would make them more attached to SW. It is very likely to be because she simply spent the most time with them as he was away for work during the week. I am just wondering if it factored into his warped decision to be free of them as well.

I do not believe they were already dead. Since SW was found in what appeared to be either night clothes or stage of undress, I believe the kids were alive when she got home. She was so concerned about them while she was gone (checking in regularly) that I can't imagine she didn't go in and peek at them as soon as she got home. If they'd been dead at that point, then I think she would've put up a fight right then and there and we'd have seen signs of a struggle. If she'd been attacked soon upon entering the home, same thing. There probably would've been more signs of a struggle and she'd have been found in her travel clothes.

i agree. if they were killed first there was a chance when she got home she would check on them...and panic...call 911, run, put up a fight, anything. CW couldn't risk that. I think he waited for her to fall asleep, killed her and then the girls.

Yes. There were several texts and searches that NK did where the time was shown but content was marked “deleted” in red font. Which of course made me 10 times more interested in knowing what it originally said.

Yeah. CW also deleted texts, but they atleast had Shanann’s phone to fill in the gaps.

New documents in Chris Watts murder case reveal bizarre search histories of confessed family-killer and his new girlfriend
On July 24, Shannan sent Chris the following message:

“I realized during this trip what’s missing in our relationship! It’s only one way emotions and feelings. I can’t come back like this. I need you to meet me halfway. You don’t consider others at all, nor think about others feelings.” In response, Chris reportedly told Shannan he loved her.

“l try to give you space, but while you are working and living the bachelor life l’m carrying our 3rd and fighting with our two kids daily and trying to work and make money,” Shannan replied.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Chris had already begun an affair with co-worker by that time. The woman, Nichol Kessinger, recently gave an interview with the Denver Channel in which she said that Chris told her his divorce was final or near-final, and that she began to suspect he may have been involved in the disappearance of his wife and daughters after realizing that he had lied to her about his marriage, and also because he did not seem concerned enough that his family was missing.

According to the CBS News Denver report, investigators searched both Chris and his girlfriend’s phones for their search histories. Kessinger reportedly spent extensive time searching for the name “Shannan Watts” on her phone, in addition to searches of a sexual nature, seeking videos and information about sexual positions. Following the murders, Kessinger reportedly searched for the phrases “can cops trace text messages” and “people hate Amber Frey,” reportedly in reference to the mistress of Scott Peterson, who is now in prison for killing his pregnant wife. She also searched for information about Frey’s book deal, according to the documents obtained by the news station.

I am glad the media is picking up on this. I really do not want NK to profit off this tragedy. She is no Amber Frey in my book.

Discovery page 2119 states there was no movement detected on the main floor of the home, as per Vivint video monitor, between 1.48am and 4.23am on the 13th. Wonder what the movement at 4.23am was?
I’m starting to think he killed them all at roughly the same time around 4.30am.

If this is any indication, you’re probably right. Has anyone tried to make sense of these activity reports? I believe all this activity starting around 4:30 am followed by low activity for 45 mins-hour (to drive) then ramped up activity again (to bury and climb wells) may tell a story. I’ve never looked at these for myself so I don’t really know how to read them. The 2nd one is Shanann’s - looks like she may not have slept? Again - if anyone wants to dive in and explain these, that would be great!

I don’t think there’s any chance of catching up here but I’ll go back and give it a try. What seems very, very clear is that Chris was completely finished and wanted his family & every trace of his current life gone. It’s really terrifying watching what Shanann was doing contrasted with what Chris was doing. She was afraid but had no idea how frightened she really should have been and this was life or death. It’s just heartbreaking, sad, awful to read.

Her dad is middle management, working for a different company in a different industry.
But we really aren't supposed to sleuth family.

There was an incoherent rambling email to investigators from a partially blind woman that referenced a possible affair person - that woman's father (I think) was a superintendent of a company that may have been a subcontractor to CW's company. So the rumor may have started from that? The email did know about secret calculator apps to communicate though which is very interesting!

Good point, thank you. He certainly attempted to sterilize the house that evening. You are right...he would have planned to get rid of anything with the scent and/or possible trace evidence of the crime - if he had the chance. Ugh - priorities! Don't want to lose the new shoes!

I understand what you meant and it must have stung CW. I feel guilty for saying to our dad when he picked us up from the babysitter's house. "Where's mother? Is Mother at home? "

I think SW's dad felt guilty about the kids liking his pickup better than CW's.

You get fired when ... you do something wrong / violate the code of ethics. So ... why didn’t they see her as a “victim” and keep her employed?

Interesting point. Really don't know many companies that fire you for having an affair with a married man unless it violated her contract to have a personal relationship with one of their clients I would think there was evidence they had been playing around when they were supposed to be working. Who writes personal e-mails that would make it evident to you were having a romantic relationship at work? Didn't anyone ever tell her that you don't sh*t where you eat?

I was thinking about this myself and had a hard time seeing them well on the docs. But I also figured you need to have on your Apple watch or have your phone on you for the activity to record...so he just might not have had these things on his person in the middle of the night...which would make sense that he would not if not yet dressed for work.

You know.... I have "met" the kindest people here. It's been amazing. And learned so much from @Mrspratcher and @gitana1

It's been such a long road with Shanann, Bella, CeCe, and Nico. But thankfully so much shorter than it could have been.

I've read every page, every note. It's as horrifying as we knew it would be. The desperation of Shannan trying to save her marriage through this new world of texts not only broke my heart, but opened it. It's all so very horrific.

Women.... please... talk out loud to each other. Speak your truth. You are loved even if by strangers we are here. I promise it will be ok if you speak your truth. We believe you. Just like we believed Shannan. Thank God for NUA.

Men, like the new world I have entered.... stop. Just stop. Please stop.

Yes! That part was fascinating. It showed that people can have tiny parts of the puzzle that can help solve a homicide case. People should always call LE, even if they think what they know or saw might be nothing.

So do you think the ex-caregiver of the blind person was NK or the Chick-fil-A woman or neither?

I wonder that too. My guess is she has broken company policy. Maybe using email or company phone for inappropriate reasons (eg texting CW etc). But I do wonder why? Surely they can't just fire her for being his gf.
