Chris Watts' In-Laws Didn't Want Him to Go on TV When Family Vanished — but They 'Thank God He Did'
“I said, ‘Chris, I don’t think you should do any media,’ ” Rzucek recalled in an interview with ABC News airing Friday night on 20/20. “I said, ‘You’re the last one to have seen them, so I don’t think you should.’ “

Robach says Frank and Sandra have “donated all of their daughter’s and granddaughters’ possessions to those in need and they are raising money in honor of Shanann and her children to donate to charity.”

“They want everyone to know what a devoted mother she was to her children, what a wonderful daughter and friend she was and what a positive force she was in the world,” Robach says. “They want to counter the version of events Chris told police and make it known she would never ever harm her children.”

As part of those ongoing efforts, the Rzuceks have sued Chris for wrongful death in the three murders, asking for compensation to make up funeral costs, Shanann’s future income and for emotional distress, ABC News reports.

“What we’re concerned about is somebody is going to come and offer him a lot of money to tell the world … at least a version of what he contends happened that night,” Rzucek attorney Mike Newman said on 20/20. “We’re not going to allow him to do that. So, that’s why we filed the wrongful death suit.”

Loved the last paragraph, as I was worried this may happen.

I can't help with anything factual, but I do remember us discussing why, the truck was parked so far from the house when they put in on the tow truck to take away. And then there was something about him helping the people whose birthday party was on the Sunday, to take back stuff hired for the party (when his family were missing).

Did that turn out to be a true anecdote about him helping them move things witht he truck? I wasn't sure if that was confirmed by the documents or an interview. I was under the impression that CW was not allowed to use his work truck for personal things like that. On one occasion he had to tell his supervisor that his truck might be parked somewhere other than his house overnight because he and SW were having marital issues. The real reason was probably because he was seeing NK and didn't want to go through the hassle of changing cars on that night for some reason. JMO.

We discussed this a few pages back and found that those necklaces were very popular from online sites. Not expensive and mostly made in China.
Oops, I missed that discussion... Do you remember how many days back, or what thread, etc? Or is this site searchable so I can find it myself? (Sorry, I'm new here....) The picture of a necklace CW texted to NK from NC is in the first document dump, page 2098, and looks a lot like the one NK is wearing in the DP photo, IMO...

It is the same necklace! I found in google images a site comparing the photos of the necklace in CW's hand and the one NK is wearing in the glamour shots. Oh wow, very observant of you and yep, I'm a little concerned.o_O

Edit: maybe just similar, looking at the site he says the straight on pic it looks more circular. Why would she even wear something similar? Idk, I'm looking too much into it.
That is so disgusting! Do you think that was a signal to CW. Maybe her way of making him think she still was in his corner to keep him from trying to tie her to this or make her look guilty?

Good thought. I have no idea what he was allowed to use it for. My son in law has a company supplied vehicle that is part of his wage package but he can and does use it for personal and family use.

Does she work primarily with a lot of men? She's one of the guys? Some men like these kinds of women, some not so much, maybe this was the first obvious difference between her and Shanann, who's a girly girl, and CW craved a change. Phfftt!

I like Paul Newman's quote about infidelity -
Why go out for burgers when you've got steak at home? :p

In that Celebrity Marriage, we didn't hear of affairs etc.
They were both great people.

Thousands of them on www.Etsy.com, some are slightly different to others. If my lover at aged 33 gave me Chinese manufactured costume jewellery, I am not sure that I would be impressed.

This case pops up for me even in the mundane... just pulling a baked chicken out of the oven and I remembered how NK "suddenly" remembered that inmate CW made her lunch in Shanann's house after saying she'd only spent a few minutes there.

She suddenly recalled he made her lunch. Chicken and carrots.... that's all he had she said laughing almost with endearment.

Poor bachelor CW... only had chicken and carrots.

When the truth is his loving, devoted wife had made "victim" Chris 6 weeks of meals before this pregnant, working, successful mother of two went home to visit her family.

I wonder, if this making lunch, was using a part of SW's frozen meal.:D:D

In my opinion, if that is the necklace he gave her, then it could've been a signal to him.... If it is the necklace he gave her, I can't imagine any other motivation for wearing it... (?) (She said she deleted all the texts, pictures, etc. from him because she was disgusted and they made her feel gross, so IMO that same emotion would extend to a present of jewelry from him as well, leading her to dump or donate it, rather than wear it for published photos... ) IMO...

The metal dog tag looking ones?

Perhaps... to me it just seems like more of a victim mode... I only have some chicken and carrots but I can make you lunch so to speak.

And one can tell by the tone of her voice she ate it up. Seriously no pun intended lol! She saw him as some single guy with nothing in his fridge but managed to make her lunch.

In the home he shared with his wife... sorry, saying that with disgust because it disgusts me.

So she ate his chicken and carrots. In Shanann's home. Ugh.

Back to your point, I'm sure Shanann left him with more than chicken and carrots. I think that's something he took on upon himself, to lose weight and "buff" up if that makes sense.

I wonder if he somehow "broke" the garage keypad so that it would not give accurate readings on when the door was really opened. Then he could open the garage anytime day or night with the car opener and just tell Shanann it was a false alert if she got a message saying the door had been opened at 2 AM. But I know that SW's parents had backed up the story that the garage keypad was malfunctioning when they stayed with them too. Still, going in and out through the garage door would let him avoid his own doorbell camera on the front door.
Frank said the garage code box was broken when they lived there, so I assume that one is true.

I cannot tell if it is similar, but look at the photo at the bottom of my post to see the necklace photo from the Discovery PDF:
Discovery p 2099 / PDF 1904
RSBM

Thank you for finding the photo. :) When I zoom in on it, the shape looks like a feather to me - a short, fat feather, lol. I don't think it resembles the one NK is wearing in the photo in the Denver7 article. JMO

I learned about this by listening to Shanann's dad's interview with LE. He said the next door neighbor (the one with the security video) told him that CW had parked the Lexus down the street, and he also parked his truck across the street from the next door neighbor's house. I got the impression CW parked the truck where he could see it, because of vandals.

There's a reason CW took Shanann's Lexus out of the garage and parked it down the street, a distance from the house, but I can't figure out why he did this. It probably ties into NK, but IDK. It might be that he hoped the Lexus would be vandalized, just to mess with Shanann and cause her more grief?

Also, Shanann's dad said CW never parked his truck on the driveway because it leaked oil and Shanann did not want oil stains on the driveway. Apparently that morning was the first time the truck had been on the driveway, and that didn't miss the notice of the next door neighbor. It seems that neighbor was really tuned into what was going on at the Watts household and that proved to be a very good thing.

Shanann's dad also said that Shanann was unhappy with CW because instead of taking a Uber to the airport when he flew to NC as she suggested, he drove the Lexus and parked it outside in the airport lot and she was very concerned about the Lexus being parked there.

Your post just jogged my memory of something else about the Lexus-- while Shanann was gone either the registration or license plate had to be renewed/paid. SW emailed CW something to print out and put in the Lexus to show it was up to date. I wonder if CW could have been hoping the Lexus would be towed due to expired registration/License plate? That would be one way he could "hide" the car-- by getting it towed. He could say nothing to SW and then claim it must have been stolen. Of course, this would not work because the police would find the date the car was towed and ask him why he didn't file a report, but the way his mind works I can see him thinking it was brilliant to risk the car getting stolen or towed. Or maybe he was hoping for hail damage just to make SW angry at him. Maybe it was all part of his gaslighting strategy.
JMO.
