Not to mention, LE did not need her testimony at all. There was plenty of evidence without needing to rely on her testimony. If the government doesn't need her, they're not going to shell out money to protect her.

I think NK put the story out there herself. If any of her new co-workers, friends, or lovers Google her name, well, she must be a different NK because CW's NK is in witness protection with a new name.

Don't forget, it's in the discovery docs that she told LE she had found a new job in a different state. Why would LE step in at that point, for a witness they don't need, for a trial that won't happen? What would they do... move her to a third state?

The whole point of witness protection is to protect key witnesses without whose testimony they wouldn't be able to prosecute. It was set up specifically for use in prosecuting organized crime.

CW was not a mobster, not part of a gang, not part of a terrorist organization. He's in jail, who exactly are his crime pals who would off her to prevent her from testifying or out of retribution?

I wonder if it’s because he didn’t want to continue paying their weekly tuition while they were “missing.” I assume the daycare/preschool is like most. You pay in advance even if you don’t go. I assume Shanann withdrew the girls during summer in NC and she saved money. If CW didn’t contact the school, he’d be paying for them while they were “missing” and would have to cough up the money (for a short period of time) until he finally said oh dear I guess they’re not coming back.

ETA: He was too stupid to realize what a big mistake that call was and just added to the evidence of bad steps he made that morning.

Well, he did save future dollars when the girls didn't attend.

IMO average people like us can’t comprehend that NK could have been aware that CW was going to kill his family. It is too horrific.

However, wasn’t there a deadly teenage love triangle in which Diana Zamora urged her boyfriend to kill another girl to prove his love?

Some of NK’s actions (deleting the texts, disdain for SW, seemingly more concerned about herself than the missing pregnant woman and children — for example) makes it seem worthwhile to discuss her potential involvement.

How can anyone, in the year 2018/2019 feel sorry for a person who willingly put embarrassing images and or text into any digital device. And then acts surprised / horrified when it's discovered by an unintended party. Sorry dumbo, jokes on you.

I do want to say for the record that when I’m disgusted with a mate (which unfortunately has been more often than not haha), the first thing I do is completely delete them. So I do recognize this automatic action.

Obviously the case at hand is more serious and there are additional factors at play so the above may or may not be relevant.

Btw, even his rehearsed speech for the police and media demonstrated his stupidity. He kept saying "I have no inclination of where they're at." The word he was looking for was INKLING. The word inclination actually, like so many other things, implies him trying to cover up his guilt.

As far as I know the last we heard of her text messages, phone to CW, etc, was very early Tuesday morning, which she said, IIRC was "still Monday to her", paraphrased. I still wonder why her communications with CW after that weren't released. (Someone correct me if they were, but I haven't seen them.)

Yes, that is the jist of the Diane Zamora case. She was considered of high moral character and intelligence to have been accepted into the US Naval Academy at Annapolis, yet played a key role in the murder of an innocent teen girl who was her rival for the affections of a equally morally backrupt paramour. Such a waste of lives.

This is totally on her. There can be NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY FOR ANYTHING SENT OVER DIGITAL MEANS THESE DAYS. It is impossible to me to think she did not know that. She took a huge risk on so many levels by getting involved with this person in the first place, and these risks did not pay off. Instead they came back to bury her. I am sure she did not expect that, but I believe she absolutely knew there was a chance she could be exposed at some point, and yet she assumed the risk for the payoff of the potential thrill of him being the love of her life.

The other thing you mention, of people cutting and pasting random people’s faces on web pornography, or other internet media, is real as well unfortunately, but does not apply in this case at all. The pictures sent WERE NK, and not of someone else with her face pasted onto the image.

But I do truly understand how it is hard to fathom any of this from our relatively innocent perspective. While WE would never engage in anything like this, as WSers, we know all too well many people do. We read unbelievable acts that defy judgement and humanity every single day here.

They saw her nudes and reference them in the "secret calculator" app so she didn't save herself that embarrassment. Why would you have to delete your entire relationship if you only thought Shannan took off for the day? (which I'd be expecting anyway since they were divorcing etc. Any sort of drama would be part of the normal dissolution) I hate to harp on this chick because CW is the real guilty party but I hope at least some people are learning from her mistakes & how to behave better in romantic relationships...i.e. don't have one with a dude who still has a wife.

Tomorrow is the beginning of a new year. It probably is a New Year already, for some here. Less than fine (5) months ago this case seemed like it would be going on for years. There were worries of "Shanann bashing" by the defense, juror hold-outs, mistrials, and maybe even an acquittal. What happened November 8th took us all by surprise. Everything changed, all worries evaporated, and the true facts started to come out. Finally, there was justice. But nothing is clean and simple. There are still unanswered questions and there is still pain. We don't know all of the reason(s) for why it happened. We don't know all of the truth about the CW/NK relationship. We don't know all of the truth about NK. We don't understand why Shanann, Bella, Cece, and Nico had to die. And so many have been affected by this, probably for life. The Rzucek family, the Watts family, NUA and her family, NK and her family, all of Shanann's friends, the co-workers at Anandarko, the workers who drained the tanks. LE, and probably others. I think many of us here have been touched deeply by this case. Meanwhile, we don't really know what prison is like for CW, he may be happy there! NK will go on with her life and may, or may not, have learned a lesson. She, most likely, will find happiness again.

I'd like to end the year with some thoughts and predictions.

Thoughts;
NK had more knowledge of Shanann and CW's marriage, than she admits and she probably encouraged CW in some ways. Maybe not directly, or to kill, but in subtle ways so that she would be in control. Ultimately, that would mean she has some responsibility for what happened. The plea deal saved her from any further interest by LE and the DA.

CW has an image of himself as a noble hero who protected NK and her image/reputation by taking the plea deal. That he could also punish his mother with the plea deal was an additional benefit.

Predictions;
If CW doesn't kill himself, at some time in the future he'll speak out. He enjoyed the interviews, the attention, and watching himself later. He'll also get a lot of jailhouse advice, which will probably include taking advantage of his celebrity. And, I expect several books to be written and for someone to make a movie, so people will be reaching out to him. I don't believe we've heard the last of CW. Perhaps he'll say something during the Wrongful Death case,

I don't believe we've heard the last of NK either. She is a vain, selfish person, with a dark side to her personality, who probably feels she was cheated out of admiration and celebrity in this case. She may have dreamed about a book deal. Go on Oprah. That sort of thing. Sometime in the future she'll resurface into public view, for something.

This isn't gossip, NK was an integral part of what happened, she shouldn't have deleted texts, she should have been more forthcoming in helping LE piece together the events leading up to and including that night. Just because your theory wasn't correct, why can't posters discuss the whole of the case without being put down as gossipers, NK is a major player whether she likes it or not.

CW DID murder his family for a mistress and for financial gain. Shanann wasn't the unstable one who murdered her children to get at CW, she loved her children immensely, she loved CW and didn't view him as the caretaker of their children, he was their FATHER!
Shanann had a real job earning good money and CW enjoyed the benefits just as much if not more than Shanann. They had financial problems like millions of families and millions don't go on to kill their family over it, even though alarmingly the numbers who do capture the world's attention because of the unimaginable stupidity of it all.

And CW didn't snap because he'd had enough, he consciously went about planning the murder of his family for a woman 'who took his breath away', and idiotically, he thought it would be the perfect crime, he'd be believed because he's the 'good guy', and they don't murder their families, they're NOT monsters!

NK is linked to this tragedy and anyone who listened and watched her interviews can tell she was lying, to what extent, who knows but it's worth discussing because CW won't reveal what occurred that night. She could've collaborated with the police to piece together CW's motives by telling them what he said/she said, and kept the texts/messages etc.
Nk dominated those interviews talking about rubbish, talking non stop about trivial things, and there's the key word, 'dominated', the word thrown around regarding Shanann. Oh the irony, it was a negative attribute for Shanann but a plus for NK, I suppose that's what 8 yrs can do to a man like CW, lucky for NK she never got to be his bride. jmo

Happy New Year everyone. Great posts I have been reading. I have been going over discovery and looking at CW and NK interviews a few things keep coming to me....
IN CW interview before the bodies were found, he mentions how Bella and Cece sometimes didn't wear pants to bed because they would get hot...…(weird how they were found without it....almost a omission of knowing how they would be found) Also, said how Bella would wake up and come out and ask for Mommy and if she was home yet. I believe this is a way CW slipped and how the killing happened and why Bella fought for her live. He tells Bella that Mommy would be there when she wakes up......Did she wake up looking for her mom and saw what CW was doing....
He also said CeCe never came out of her room that night...
Those interview points strike a nerve with me and the sequence of events that night.

In the 2nd interview with NK, it stands out to me that she ask LE if she is in trouble for deleting texts...…..and then she tries to rationalize to LE why she did....Still thinking a lot about that. I want to see more of the discovery of those messages. Were they all retrieved? Has there been more discovery or interviews released since her 2nd interview?

Charles and Camilla, who one would expect to have decorum, had some unfortunate interactions revealed to the world.

That an “ in love” woman would send selfie nudes to her lover does not surprise me. People have sex with someone they met an hour ago.

What does surprise me is the public’s interest in such pictures and talk. It is bad enough the some LE get to look and hear, but the public’s voyeurism bothers me a lot.

What does that have to do with the crime? We know they exist. We are not the judge or the jury.

It puts everyone at risk because anyone could be involved in a crime when they really have no part. People’s addresses, etc.Not good
