Is the one appeal process given only to prisoners with life without parole in all states? I understand this must be filed within two years of conviction. Would the Colorado Supreme Court assigns a public defense lawyer to do a Writ?

I will have to research that.

Lol looks like CW is STILL not including his parents in his decisions. At least not his father, and I doubt he's talked to Mom for a long time.

I bet dads gotten him out of trouble before. Covered for him. Told him he's a good boy even when he did something wrong. And then his what he did. So he is able to talk to him.

As to mom? I think he's scared of her.

He didn't do it anyway, it was her fault for being bossy. When he plead guilty he wasn't really confessing. If he was really confessing it was only referring to murdering SW. He really wasn't convicted of anything, and if he was, if wasn't fair because he was coerced. Seen it all on the podcasts, heard it all, can't wait until it's over.

It's disgusting to me, frankly. A slap in the face to the victims' family and friends.

It's disgusting to me, frankly. A slap in the face to the victims' family and friends.

My background is in publishing and media, not law, and I find the ongoing attacks on Shannan ... remarkable and so, so troubling.

She was defamed, and still is being defamed, in effect, but since there’s legally no such thing as defamation of the dead, there’s no means to shut it down. It’s horrible.

The agents do not live in a vacuum. They know this is happening, and they also know how distressing it is for her family.

That alone would be reason enough for me to travel across the country and hear what Chris Watts has to say. If I were one of those agents, I’d do it on my own dime and time if need be. Any realistic chance it would help the Rzuceks would make it worthwhile.

Hi everyone, this is a friendly reminder not to post anything from family members' social media accounts. I'm not sure if everyone is aware, but there is at least one fake profile on FB under Frankie's name. It's been up a while and I have no idea why FB is not taking it down.

Please check first with a moderator before paraphrasing anything from a family member's FB page. There are too many sick people with fake accounts out there.

Thank you!

I wonder if her family could copyright her name. Is that even a thing? And if it is, would it even help with the defamation?

False. A guilty plea is a conviction, simply one without a trial. CW in essence threw his hands up, and said “I did it.”

These agencies are visiting him because his insight is valuable, as one of the few living “family annihilators” who are willing to talk.

This is basically a continuance of his allocation, which he never gave.

He appears finally willing to provide the details that so many have been wanting, least of all Shanann’s family.

And the fact that the DA and LE in this case really felt for the victims and the crime touched them. The DA even spoke of having daughters of his own and got emotional. This isn't the kind of crime that leaves you once the jail doors slam shut. They knew that SW's family were left without answers and a certain amount of closure. If CW finally decided to talk and go there, then I am not surprised that they wanted to be there for it. Why wouldn't they? It's so rare that we get actual answers.

A statement to PEOPLE form the Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirms authorities met with Watts, 33, on February 18. Officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Frederick Police Department were also present.

Investigators “interviewed Christopher Watts for the purpose of developing further insight into the case,” the statement reads.

Watts was having an affair with a co-worker at the time of the killings. Authorities have cited his desire for a “fresh start” with his mistress as his motive for the killings.

The house was bought in 2013 for about $400,000, and the public notice states that there is still $349,900 outstanding on the home. The real estate website Zillow.com places the home’s worth at about $510,000.
Chris Watts Gives Investigators New Details of Murders of Pregnant Wife and 2 Daughters

Thank you. Makes perfect sense. These people are profilers. They want to know why makes a monster like CW tick. Helps them for further cases. Helps the family a little bit too, with hopefully some answers.

At sentencing:
Christopher Watts sentencing for murdering Frederick family
Watts’ parents, Ronnie and Cynthia, condemned the crimes and did not ask the judge for leniency in their son’s sentencing.

“We still don’t have the answers,” Ronnie Watts said in a statement read by his attorney, Jean Powers. “I hope one day, Christopher, you can help us.”

Cynthia Watts said she was still struggling to understand the “absolute horror” and will never recover from the trauma.

Yesterday's article:
Chris Watts, man who killed pregnant wife and daughters, provides new details on murders to investigators: Officials
Chris Watts' father, Ronnie Watts, said his son did not tell him the details about the conversation, but Ronnie Watts told ABC News Thursday, "In my heart I know he didn't kill those girls."

Ronnie Watts said his son calls him every night and "knows the Bible inside and out."

"It's over and done with," Ronnie Watts said of the case. "I am confused why they [the investigators] went out there in the first place."

We knew they were full of it back then.

This is all about blaming the victim, so CW's can feel vindicated. Even if SW's was verbally, emotionally abusive toward him he could leave, start a divorce, sorry you cannot murder your entire family because she was "naggy and bossy!"
It's toxic and I see way too many women defending his actions (online). Victim blaming/bashing...our society is doomed if we don't stop.

I think they are all relevant because they involve confessions to murder after a trial has already taken place.
In other words, the killer is finally taking accountability whereas he may not have at the time of his conviction. Imo

No trial took place in this case which is why those cases aren't relevant to me. CW's plea resulted in him being held accountable. Confessing what CW insists is the truth now isn't going to change his sentence nor improve his stay at a prison in another state.

The DA has already publicly stated he won't believe whatever CW says. It certainly should not require three agencies to send officers when one could have handled it.

Or it could mean CW doesn't have money to pay an attorney to fight it or knows he wouldn't win.

Nah. Plenty of people can't afford to litigate such cases. That doesn't mean they actually COOPERATE though.

There are some people who followed this case and are still convinced that CW didn't do it and was "coerced" into an admission of guilt or else claimed responsibility so that people didn't think badly of SW. The words I want to use are banned on WS. No matter what new revelations came along the way, words and meanings were twisted until they fit into one of these theories. I am sure that right now many people are trying to convince themselves that this new development is somehow going to be in his favor. And when it proves NOT to be, as it has all along, excuses will be made. He was coerced. He was pushed. He's a good guy just trying to protect his wife. ANYTHING to take the blame off of him and to ignore the evidence stacked against him and his conviction.

I don’t think it needs to be a bombshell, especially as most of what happened is already clear.

But there is practically a cottage industry online of people continuing to bash SW and trying to take the blame off Chris Watts. There’s no way it can’t be taking a toll on her family.

The only thing I’ve continued to do regarding this case is to stomp on the SW bashers, and it’s really a whack-a-mole situation.

I’m hopeful that if CW provides even just a few more details clarifying that SW did not harm the girls, the Chris Watts fan club will be undermined.
Thank you for joining the whack-a-mole team. If there are enough of us maybe the moles will just stay underground. They should be happier there where they never have to risk seeing that pesky light...

Ah those silly agents have apparently been hoodwinked, darn it anyways. That dang CW still fooling everyone from prison....

I don’t think he’s fooling anyone

I'm sorry that, as SW's friend, you have to see and hear some of the things that are said.

Wouldn't be surprised if Cindy Watts is hoping in leading the charge to appealing Chris's conviction. In her eyes he shouldn't have pleaded guilty and instead it should've gone to trial. She feels he was coerced in pleading guilty since both parents were denied visitation by his lawyers the night before the his hearing. Shannon family would've endured years of emotional limbo if the death penalty had been on the table.

And this stuff about Chris Watts calling Ronnie nightly makes no sense.
Prisoner Watts has limited access to the phones and its highly doubtful he has access to phones at night.

There is no appeal and LE isn't going to allow the Watts parents to drive any moves they make.

When I suggested LE may be there to investigate whether his plea was coerced it would have to be initiated by someone who has a solid basis for their suspicion other than just emotional outbursts from an inmate's parents.

Those that think CW is innocent then who strangled SW's? a stranger?
She killed them, then herself? or? I'm really curious.

On here we've seen theories that NK is guilty of crimes that she didn't get charged for. And we've seen that CW did kill SW, but only because she killed the kids first and that he was in a rage (basically the first excuse he put forth).

It’s truly unthinkable that people can even be so cruel as to insinuate such things, but unfortunately there are some pretty cruel people in this world. And many of them are unaware of the hurt their actions cause, if they even care at all.
