I agree with you about his idiotic FAKE reason for placing SW in a shallow grave -- to fool LE that it was a spontaneous crime of passion.

BUT I would also like to add that I think he put Shanann's body in a shallow grave because he wanted to disrespect her in death as he was unable to in life due to the fact she was a strong character who stood up to him.

CW wanted to demean and desecrate her in death because he could not even be a quarter of the person she was in life and he resented her for that.

He didn't care if her body was eaten by wild animals because that was his evil, cowardly way of demeaning her and invalidating her. Just as he defecated close to her grave site and shoved her two precious girls into oil tanks. He KNEW better than anyone what crude oil would do to their little bodies. All pre-meditated.

I really hope he gets his just desserts in prison instead of donning his new mask as "Chris Found Jesus" or studying to be a preacher. I strongly believe in an eye for an eye.

CW is very lucky he didn't live in Colorado in the 1800's. He would have probably had a maximum of two days to live from the time his sorry a** was thrown in a county jail for murdering his pregnant wife and little girls.

Justice would likely have been served up frontier style, with an unknown group of men taking him from the jail during the middle of the night and the sheriff never bothering to search for the group of unknown men. Done.

I think his story about bringing the gasoline to blow himself up with is a crock of you-know-what. I think had he more time, he planned to burn SW's body. Whether he planned to bury her burned remains or put them in one of the tanks or otherwise, I don't know. Perhaps he planned to blow up her Lexus with her body inside? He definitely had a better plan, only the flight delay and NUA put a wrench in it IMO

A mouse could have stood up to CW. I don't think there was anything to "stand up" too. She was a natural born leader. I don't think she ever questioned that he was there to do her bidding. Her parents even have said they loved him because he did everything for her.

I don't think Shanann expected Chris to "do her bidding". She was just a good organizer and Chris was more of a follower.
He supported her during her illness and her parents recognized that and were grateful that Chris helped Shanann with Lupus. It didn't make her domineering, imho. They slipped into natural roles like other couples. My husband is the captain and I prefer being second in command unless I'm better at doing something and then we reverse roles. There can't be two captains.

Its hard for a mouse to physically stand up to someone stronger who wanted them dead.

Shanann was exhausted, pregnant and ill with lupus when she got home the night he murdered her in cold blood.

She had no clue that CW would resort to murdering her and the toddlers.
He caught her by surprise likely when she was sleeping.

He wanted her gone and she could not have fought him off physically. He was far stronger than her and it was easy to kill her.

Pregnant woman are very vulnerable. The second leading cause of death in pregnant women is homicide. Its awful.

I agree, and in the early days of the case, I was extremely perplexed about why he put Shanann's body in a shallow grave, particularly when he put Celeste and Bella in the oil storage tanks, which to me strongly suggests premeditation, IMO. Who thinks of that on the fly? In his wildest dreams, even if everything had gone his way, did he really think that Shanann's shallow grave would not be discovered?

JMO, I think he's a psychopath and their minds are literally impossible to understand. If investigators caught him on a day when he felt like telling the truth about why he put Shanann's body in a shallow grave, he'd probably throw his hands around and say "I didn't know what else to do!!".
Yes, he knew ahead of time the bodies of his children would fit through those 8 inch openings. Even others who were familiar with the size of the holes couldn't believe they would fit. Imo

PFFFFT! I have to say that pathetic excuse as to why SW never fought back really chapped my arse!!
How narcissistic and brainwashed does this monster have to be just to THINK of something that asinine?
UGH.

Yep he’s truly a narcissistic monster who only thinks about how things reflect on him. Hence she was probably forgiving me as I brutally strangled her. Makes me absolutely sick!

Yeah, for someone who was on a "rage" auto pilot - not thinking - and always "didn't know what else to do" - he sure did do a LOT of THINKING things that morning!

-throws out relationship book so it would look like SW decided to leave him
-takes SW's wedding ring off so he can leave it behind as evidence she left him
-backs truck up to garage to block camera view and hides what he puts in truck (his family)
-brings trash bags for this and we think the gas can which he likely was considering using not for himself but for later cover up but discarded the idea due to time or what he thought were better ideas
-texts and tries to call almost every coworker that morning who could possibly show up - from before he even murdered his girls throughout the process - in a casual, care free manner - never coming across as stressed to them. He even "lol" on a text to a coworker before 9 am. He sure spent a lot of time texting calling for someone not in their right mind!
-texts his wife just after to ask where she is taking his kids!
-calls the school and realtor ASAP
-looks up song lyrics for Nikki (or was it for her? such a coincidence that "battery" is another name for one of those oil tanks and the song mentions rage, kill, and family). Huh.
-not a single coworker that morning notice anything about his demeanor amiss - just his clothes.
-takes time to take pics of wildflowers, presumed to be for NK who liked them
-stops on way home to LE to throw away his murder clothes, children's blankets/toys.
-drives by home in his neighborhood on way home to give realtor the thumbs up that it is the same model home so she can get moving on the comps report to get his home on the market asap.
-makes another text/call to SW on the way home.

I'm probably missing some...and this is only what we KNOW he was "thinking" in service of his crimes and future life that morning.

Agree with all of this - 100%!! These were all very deliberate actions, and he most certainly was trying to cover his bases. The only fortunate thing is any of it is that he's is a complete idiot.

Ha! So typical. A perfect example of Projection. He was likely transferring his thoughts to Shanann to make his poor self feel better. Imo

Just to be clear i’m Merely projecting what CW is “probably”thinking. Don’t want to confuse anyone about it being a direct quote

And I absolutely agree!

Two things:

- Did Coder/Tammy ever ask CW if he loved SW? I very well may have missed it (4 plus hours....brain fatigue and I definitely don’t remember everything). And if so what did he say? I’d be curious to see what he would have said if the question was “Chris, did you love Shanann?” and it was left entirely open-ended.

- Someone please remind me where we landed with the hatch discussion way back when. Specifically, didn’t we conclude there were a lot of bolts that needed to have been opened for each hatch? Which would have taken some time? IIRC there were like 20 bolts or something? Or was that only the lower door?

Would it be as simple as saying if NK wasnt involved, this murder would have been prevented?

JMO, I believe it is pretty much that simple.

But I will say one thing about this statement, it shows in his own words about what kind of person SR was. You wouldn’t say that if you had rage and hate against her. He’s basically admitting that he didn’t think SR deserved any of this. Heck she’s such a good person, She was probably forgiving me as I did the worst thing imaginable to her. Moo

I hope the Shanann bashers can read btwn the lines as well!

CW told investigators that he told Shanann he didn't love her, so I don't think they had a need to ask him. They did ask him if he loved NK and he said, "I felt like it was true."

IIRC, there were 6 bolts (or 8?) per thief hatch and 64 bolts on the bottom door.

I agree. He knew they would fit. He also knew, ahead of time, than Shanann would not. Perhaps that's what the can of gasoline was for. It could be that he just ran out of time.

I know I'm responding to my own post, but to add, I think he eventually would have done this, but perhaps inwas bored

In terms of the bolts, I believe this is further proof of premeditation. It was something he planned to do with them, in advance, IMO.

If it was an on-the-spot decision, I believe he would have put them in the same tank, just to get it over with more quickly.

Ok, I missed that about the loving, thanks. So he thought NK “was true”? Sigh. “Musings on Middle School Love”, by Chris Watts (age 34).

Right- thank you- it was the bottom door that had all the bolts. 6 or 8 bolts on the top door... and he said he doesn’t know what he was thinking when he put Bella in a separate tank. That is really weird that he would have taken the time to unbolt another opening.
