So the gist is, Shanann was a "control freak" + she spent too much time doing the MLM Thrive stuff, it was very demanding of her time and attention.

Now, I'm not a NK hater like I know a lot of people are. But based on her interviews, she herself is a rather controlling personality. She was monitoring his weight and food intake. She knew almost everything about his finances. She was trying help him find an apartment. And so on. Had Chris left SW and settled down with NK he'd probably have grown to hate her, too, in time.

It's so sad. This article takes me back to reading the discovery files years ago. Shanann begged coward Chris for weeks to just tell her what was wrong, and he wouldn't. Shanann struggled to figure it out for herself, and right before her death she told one friend that she knows she has "control issues" and wants to work on it. And she told another friend (Thrive friend) that she really needed to dial it back and spend more time with her family. Despite CW's stonewalling, she intuited why Chris might be dissatisfied with the marriage and was determined to work on herself and please him.

Of course, Chris was already cheating by that time. But my point is, all Chris had to do was tell Shanann what he wanted and why he was unhappy, and I think she would've been amenable to change and compromise. Her texts in the discovery are proof of that. But CW was too much of a coward to tell her anything, because if he'd complained, he'd no longer be the perfect husband, the perfect nice guy. It was easier for Chris to say nothing, and kill them all. He's such a broken person.

So the gist was, more accurately, that HE SAID that. The gist wasn't that that was a fact. Earlier, before his family had a chance to tell him what he thought, he told the FBI/CBI that Shahann never belittled him, and that he himself joined in her videos to help sell in her home business. Also, his co-worker Brown told CBI that Chris Watts constantly tried to sell Thrive to him, while both were on the job. Ie being paid by Anadarko, Watts was pushing a sales product. On company time. Brown finally had to tell Watts to knock it off, that he wasn't interested in Chris Watts' product sales.

Those who have followed the case and followed Watts' evolving stories have seen him blame many people for his grotesque decisions.

There is no evidence that Shanann was overbearing, a control freak. In all of Watts published interviews, body cams, letters to Cadle, he never said anything like that about Shanann.

And where is the evidence that she spent "much time doing the MLM Thrive stuff, it was very demanding of her time and attention"?

I don't think it's fair or accurate to call a home business "the Thrive stuff". Of course her occupation was demanding, like millions of parents, they provided child care so both parents could work. Did we ever see Chris taking the children to work, back before he killed them and stuffed their bodies in crude oil tanks?

And, I have a problem with the characterization of her friend or friends as being "thrive" friends. We all make friends with people we work with, what is wrong with that? Are those by definition a lesser type of friend? Shanann made and kept friends her whole life. What friends did her husband, the confessed baby murderer, make? Prison friends he exchanged lube and underwear with?

Sorry, I get the feeling that your post implies that if only Shanann had seen the light regarding her own deficiences earlier, Chris wouldn't have been driven into the arms of a mistress, and none of this would have happened.

Even if any of the control stuff was true, that’s why you can get a divorce.

And that won’t EVER excuse what he did to his children.

He is unable or unwilling to just admit that this was all his fault. He had options. Murder shouldn’t have been one.

Some clarity but a long way from taking personal responsibility. I agree with what he wrote about Kessinger but he made the decision to get involved with her and kill his family to be with her. I do believe she gave the ultimatum. She reeks wickedness.

I doubt NK told CW to "kill his family" to be with her. Sure, she was having an affair with a married man, and I have no doubt that she may have given him an ultimatum to get a divorce. I don't see her as "wicked", just very stupid.

Of course he blames her. But we have to remember, that most crimes don't take place in front of an audience at Madison square garden. And with a family annihilation of this type, we also have to remember that there's a lot that happens between two people in private, and it builds up over years.

He obviously had a lot of rage toward her and did not want the baby. He hated her and wanted out of the marriage. A man who loves his wife and wants a child with her and is happy, does not kill his wife and unborn child, unless he has a complete mental breakdown. Family annihilation isn't about the killer being EVIL and suddenly going on a rampage. It builds up over years of toxic interaction and dynamics.
And killing a pregnant woman/girl: this kind of crime almost inevitably happens when there is no real relationship: teenagers, or one of them is involved with someone else, or the marriage is in trouble, but either way, it's the father who does not want the baby. And in many cases, it's understandable to not want a child when you're broke, or your marriage is in the shitter, or you're a stupid teenager with no money.
There's always what they call a Precipitant, that 'sets it off' and it's not always something that directly relates to the murders. We may never know what it is, but in this case, I think it was ultimately financially motivated.
Family annihilators are a lot more complicated than we know and it's worth discussing. I've always been interested by the topic.

How could she have gotten custody? Cheating won't give you custody? And maybe she was afraid to leave her babies with him? Do we know that she knew he was cheating? We don't know when she found out he was banging the office girl. And, as late as Aug 9 CW had told SW they could work it out, paraphrased, and had planned a trip to Aspen, per discovery emails of SW.

She found out he was wining and dining the office girl on SW's joint acct on Aug 11. CW murdered her and her babies on the night of Aug 12/13. On which day do you think she should have gotten it together to demand a divorce for cheating to avoid his murdering her and stuffing her babies thru an 8" hole into crude oil tanks?

I'm so tired of the victim blaming in this case.

Why didn't he just kill himself? He's the one who instigated debt. yeah, but the motive isn't really CONTROL. There are three pillars of homicide: sex, money, revenge.
I think in THIS case, it was all three. He had an affair. They were trapped in debt. He wanted revenge on Shannan for a number of what he saw as "wrongs".

That's why you can't assume rage. His family should be looked into, ie when his aberrant behavior manifested itself and why they didn't do anything to get him help.

It's not normal to skip your only son's wedding then visit him in prison after he murders and desecrates your grandchildren and tell him "i love you son, I don't care what you did".

Watts was damaged goods long before he unfortunately convinced Shanann to marry him.

His problems were nurtured and curated long before he started disregarding the value of money as a married man.

Watts had no intention of achieving success thru work ethics, he told the FBI/CBI on Feb 18, 2019 that he was happy to work at Anadarko because all he had to do was show up to get paid. Where as his commission work at the dealership required output.
HIs crimes had nothing to do with her home business. What was she supposed to do, be lazy like him? Avoid making decisions and avoid responsibility as he lived his apathetic life?
