Sounds to me that she knew that was the correct time to not use protection, with CW even saying in Feb 19 interview it had been last time they were intimate.

I don't believe he said that to LE in the February 19th interview, which date they had last been intimate. You may be relating what his mistress says he told her about his relation ship with his wife, Shanann.

Shanann's sin: trying to improve her marriage to keep her family together, finding creative sources of income, asking for honest/constructive conversation from her husband, getting pregnant, believing they had a future together...

Chris' sin: stepping out on his wife, fathering a third baby he had no intention of raising, spending marital money on his sidepiece, oh and then also murdering his pregnant wife and unborn son, then murdering his daughters and forcing their bodies into oil tanks.

Shanann's greatest fear IMO, that her marriage would fall apart.

She didn't know that Chris had other plans. NOTHING justifies that.

A woman should have the right to be safe in her own bed.

I actually don't think he planned that murder the way it happened. That speaks of a rage killing.

Where are you getting this “three pillars” concept you keep reiterating? Those may be base motivations that influence actions and decisions, but trying to center an action as heinous as annihilating your entire family with your bare hands on sexual desire or revenge seems a little disingenuous.

A lot of individuals have midlife crises and question their marriages, and there are plenty of unhappy husbands out there who feel “trapped” by their own choices. No one put a gun to Chris Watts’ head and demanded he marry Shannan and start a family with her. He chose to do that, just like he chose to stay married while pursuing an affair, just like he chose to lie repeatedly and avoid confrontation, just like he chose to slaughter his wife and children and just like he chose to desecrate their bodies.

The man is pathetic to his core, and instead of having the decency to be honest or straightforward with his wife, he snuck around on her, badmouthed her, and killed her and her children. This wasn’t an act of vengeance; it was an act of extreme cowardice and selfishness.

Like most eraser killers, he believed he could simply wipe his wife and kids from the face of the Earth, make it as if they never existed, then move on to pursue a secondary bachelorhood without any of the messy consequences of divorce.

But I wouldn't call it a mitigating factor as much as it was a motive, or what's called The Precipitant. It's something that sets off the crime, usually after a combination of events and interactions that accumulate.
Ultimately, money is often at the root of family annihilation. Having a mistress= money. Divorce and child support =money. Having a kid you can't realistically afford=money. People often kill their own kids...for money and it happens all the time.

Possibly rage at first assaulting his wife like any common domestic violence abuser, but the systematic killing of his whole family was in cold blood.

Greed seems the driving force. Instead of getting in his truck and leaving he didn't want the expense of divorce.

There is zero indication that he "wanted out". Until he started up with the office girl. But even then he never told his wife, his friends, his coworkers or during numerous post murder interviews with LE that he had "wanted out".

He also promoted the image of the happy family thru videos and pushed his Thrive sales onto coworker Brown to the point where Brown told him to knock it off.

It's so unfair (and inaccurate) to push the idea that Shanann was trying to project a falsehood about her family while he "wanted out", and that they "weren't communicating with each other". By the accounts of her family and friends, it was clearly the soon-to-be baby murderer who chose not to communicate with his wife and children. Shanann went into detail in texts published in discovery how he avoided face timing with the kids.

Every family unit has weak points, who are we to blame the wife when none of us were there, while everyone who WAS there does not support your allegations against the murdered woman and defense of the murderer.

Did you know the main reason they were short of money was Shanann’s medical bills? If they had lived in Canada they would have been doing fine. But money spent to keep alive isn’t really a luxury.
