More visual aids. I like visual aids. If you want to get a closer look at the terrain, there are many, many, hiking and biking videos on YouTube which also demonstrate the popularity of these trails in the warmer months. The property is surrounded by random outsiders passing by all day long.

Oops, I completely missed this. Thank you!

If I recall the public searchers were instructed not to trespass on Barry's land but they were up in the hills all around and were encroaching although I'm not certain anyone actually crossed the property lines. And I do recall there was some reports that he had trail cams along his property lines and there was a baricade on the driveway with a No Trespassing sign. Then at some point in the afternoon Barry agreed to let Andy and a few others search his actual property and Andy called all the public search groups back and told them they were free to go, that the search was done. There have been LE initiated searches of the actual acreage that belonged to the Puma Path home as well as LE initiated searches of the waterways, I personally also don't think she is on that property.
I don't have a gut feeling where she is but I feel that it would be foolish for him to put her on his property since that could more directly tie him to her disappearance. If she is on the PP property, then she is hidden to the extent that he confidently feels she will not be found and was very comfortable to sell the property rather than monitor or guard it for years to come.

I'm not a BM supporter, but in fairness I feel that too much was made of him protecting his property during the search. It was perhaps over the top for him to have a gun slung over his shoulder, but to have a barricade at driveway and to have eyes and cameras on the property was reasonable. He had 7 or 8 acres (I believe) to watch and couldn't watch it all. There's no telling what kind of misguided bad apples could have shown up for the search and ended up on his property. It's easy for searchers to look at a map and see where property lines are but difficult when walking the terrain. My impression also was that he informed the searchers that they were getting close to the property line and they had not actually entered his property. I'm glad that he did eventually let Andy, searchers and dogs on the property.

On second thought, and I hope I'm wrong, I'm thinking that @sk716 might be talking about the the cameras Barry put up when his brother-in-law was searching for his wife. You know, the search for which he not only had no part of (WTF) but actually had his 'friends' and himself armed and dangerous around his property.
Then again, @sk716 may remember something I don't. It's been a long time now.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, @sk716

That I do remember, which is mind bending considering he did not have any (with the exception of the garage) at the home that were operational. @sk716 I felt like you had some knowledge of other cameras that we have not discussed. True?

I remember early discussion of game cameras and cannot recall an original source, I may be conflating a rumor with something AM said. I also recall a deer corn rumor, which added to my hunting theories. He would still have to do any serious hunting up the mountain as hikers/bikers would spook most big game away from the house.

Also, sk716, are you assuming he must have put game cameras up the mountain or have you actually read MSM or LE reports that they exist?

If you read it, please share a link.

If you are assuming them, it's essential to add a MOO/IMO/JMO opinion statement to your posts so it is clear to readers which you mean. (it's also required by TOS)

Thank you for clarifying!

"And we learned from the Unmasked podcast that BM was obsessive about looking at his cameras and trail cams - something important with these cameras IMO

I have no question about whether BM had home security cameras as well as game cameras near the perimeter of his property. I was asking about the assertion of him putting cameras up on Pahlone Peak.

If Barry baited a mountain lion with elk meat, for instance, and set the next table with a doe, how long until a mountain lion would devour it entirely?

JMO, JM?

I think Barry buried Suzanne under a small tree. I think she is in an animal bag. I think Barry would expect God to give him credit for a decent burial "by showing her proper respect." I also think he spoke words over her grave...expecting God to give him credit for that too. Barry is all about rationalizing and covering his tracks. I also think he considers himself to be "forgiven by God"....and that this is a matter between the two of them....nobody else's business. This all comports with "if anyone were saved because of this.....". So I don't think Barry left her body out for wild animals. I think he used the skills at his disposal (tranquilizer gun and landscaping tools). I think he will go so far as to gaslight himself that he "handled this in a humane way". All of this makes it much easier for Barry to forgive himself and move on.

I think it's far more likely that she's on Pahlone Peak somewhere. It's much less hiked/biked/camped than the other mountains in the immediate vicinity and the terrain is nuts even from street view. He's had game cameras up on that mountain for two years, I think he probably knows it really well.

How do you reckon he transported a body there?

A body is far too heavy to carry/drag up a mountain. If divided into parts, the numerous trips would take a lot of time and would create an obvious trail.

I think he used the RR or the ATV.

This sounds like a logic problem quiz.

I've always thought the area where BM did his great dramatic swan dive merited more attention.

I've also thought he may have had a plan for the hike that was suggested.

Doesn't a good hunter always have a Plan B?

moo
I wish we could pinpoint the swan dive. Very valuable information to have. I am curious what LE has done with that. It means something. I think he put her body in something with camouflage cloth (sleeping bag?) and pushed it over a cliff. I wonder if he went to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. If you wanted to disappear someone, the depth of that canyon could do it. Only about 2 hours from Puma Path. Speculation only. I do not think she is on the PP property.

Thank you so much for the topo map! Now I've got my directions straight. Placing her in the direction of the RV camp would also be consistent with a stranger abduction defense. I don't think he used the Bobcat either.
How steep is the terrain from PP to the RV camp? Could it be reached by an electric bike? ATV?

There was recent discussion about BM possibly texting or otherwise posting as SM on or around May 9. Some questions:
  1. Could BM have used a phone (his primary or burner) to monitor SM's phone remotely? My research suggests there are remote access apps. I would think it'd be possible for such a thing to be added to one's phone without the owner being aware of it.
  2. Would use of a remote access app show up on a forensic audit of cell phone use? Would you be able to tell which phones were in contact?
  3. Can you use IP address spoofing to pretend to be SM's phone? Again, would a forensic audit of cell phone use detect that a device other than SM's was the originating device?
  4. With the use of either remote access app or IP address spoofing, if BM remotely opened SM's facebook account, which phone/device would facebook detect as the originating device?
  5. If BM opened SM's facebook account and unusual friend invitations were made AND if SM noticed this activity, would it explain why account login credentials changed soon after? (Ie, who was trying to block whom out?)
I am thinking that BM was using his hunting instincts to track his wife's communications with the outside world. This would include surprising her when she was on travel or when she had guests over and monitoring surveillance cameras obsessively. If he was willing to do that, I can't imagine that he didn't attempt to monitor her phone/internet use.

[Aside: A high school student I mentor is in his school's cyber security program. He told me that if I answer a spam call on my cellphone, the spammer now has access to my IP address. It's a bit scary to feel so vulnerable. I'm glad I have a spam blocker on my phone. Perhaps someone on this group could offer a phone security for seniors class.]

Suzanne's stepbrother mentioned that Barry was so strong he could carry an elk over his shoulders for a couple of miles. He speculated that he could get even further with a body on his ATV. Imo

Hypothetically possible, but your previous comment delt with the FBI being unable to trace a phone after simply inserting a new sim. Which is incorrect. They could easily trace it. Establishing ownership is another issue which was not part of your original scenario. Although I think establishing ownership wouldn't be that difficult based on whom the owner ended up calling and references to whom was called prior to any sim swap . Your mileage may vary

For instance, Barry has a burner he used to call his crew. Just check Barry's crew phones for similar numbers. Both before and after a sum swap. Most of his crew prolly would have fingered him anyway.

It was part of a post I made on a prior thread. It was rather lengthy and included more information on how it's done. Sorry if I misled. Inserting a new SIM alone would not work. Establishing ownership is obviously the key to tracking a burner phone.

There are a number of ways to get a burner phone not registered to oneself. The first would be to buy a used one at a flea market or similar. The second is to pay cash at a kiosk or pop-up (these are easy to find in some places, particularly in Mexico, but also in Los Angeles). Another is to do what my neighbor did - and steal credit card information from someone else, have it shipped to an address where you know the person is going to be moving soon. The phones purchased with my stolen CC information were sent to a Mailboxes Etc in Austin, TX (where my neighbors' daughter lived). The Mailboxes Etc did not have any information they could give the bank about who had once had that address, but of course, the investigation was not by the FBI. Ther

At any rate, there's no point in having a burner phone for illegal reasons if it was registered to you when you bought it.

I suggested in an earlier post that the easiest way for Barry to have one (I do not think he had one necessarily - although I do believe he had a second phone and that the FBI has that phone in their possession, IMO)...was to get it in Mexico. However, it would not be an iPhone and wouldn't be linked to the Morphew's joint iCloud account, so would not be able to track Suzanne's phone easily. I think he just used iCloud to see where she was, personally. She could have turned it off (took me a couple of tries, one needs to disable a couple of things), but then Barry would have confronted her and been suspicious.

Tracking one's wife through installing an app on her phone (perhaps in a hidden folder) would be possible with a burner, I suppose.

At any rate, sorry for the confusion. A separate cash based SIM purchase would not, by itself, make the phone untraceable. A cash-paid burner phone bought in Mexico would, though.

A female elk weighs about 500 pounds. That's an amazing feat, if not exaggerated. Would love to ask the stepbrother if he observed this directly.

400 tours.....2o0 square miles....why not?

I like visual aids, too, @sk716. @Trackergd and I have always thought that area was where BM brought her body. A power line parallels the back road to the RV park. It would be easy enough to start down the road on an ATV, then go over to the power line cut, follow that for a while, then veer off up into the mountains that way.
Few folks would use that road at night. If BM traveled along that road with no headlights, it would be easy enough to pull off if he saw headlights from another vehicle. Once he was off road and up into the mountainside, he’d be scot free.

I truly hope MM1 and MM2 are compelled to testify.
I really don't see this judge allowing that. He would insist on their testimony being brought in some other way. I don't think the child of any party in this case (thinking here about JL's daughter) will be compelled to testify in open court.

After all, if not for the judge's invocation of protection for SM's daughters, we might have possession of a redacted AA right now.

Edited & bolded by me[/QUOTE]

I agree. I think the way their testimony will come in is in their texts with their mom and in what they told the detectives. If any of that included things useful to the case then I think they will do that. Now if one or both of them agree to testify, then that's different. I would imagine the defense would put them on to talk about their dad, but then the prosecution can ask them questions too so if the defense thinks either of them are wishy washy or could be cracked by the prosecution into admitting their dad was controlling or abusive to their mom then that is not a risk I think they would want to take.

I feel like Barry was minimizing Suzanne’s contribution in the marriage with the ATM comment. I will await further information as to whether he withheld funds, or if he meant that he was the sole breadwinner. I’m thinking he believed that as the man of the house, he was entitled to make all the decisions. I bet that what Barry decided was usually the rule in the house. Suzanne drove a nice SUV, had beautiful clothes, and went on many trips without Barry. I think he probably believed that he could grant or deny Suzanne’s spending as he saw fit.

Definately! I have seen some comment that he couldn't be that controlling because she was allowed to go on these trips. I think those people have never been in a relationship where control was a thing. It looks many ways and manipulation is something that can come from say "You can go on this trip, but it comes with xyz price".. it could be that he did something and to get her to forgive him he allowed this trip or that trip. I don't think controlling spouses are always keeping someone literally locked in the house with zero money. It's more like there is always a trade off and strings attached. It very well could be the same way for the daughters. IF that is all they have ever known they could feel it's normal or not even realize it's a form of abuse.

Yet - stepbrother has Barry carrying an entire elk.

Suzanne weighed about 100 pounds, maybe a little more. I believe Barry had an ATV with a game trailer, but I'm not sure he needed it for body disposal (MOO). He could surely have carried her on his shoulders - although I agree with you that it wasn't up to the top of a mountain.

If he did premeditate this crime, he thought about where he was going to put her and how to carry her. Since I believe she was alive when he took her to her final resting place, he would not have to worry about rigor mortis.

A full body game bag of proper construction is designed to be slung over a person's back. If Barry could indeed haul even half of an elk at one time on his back, he surely could haul Suzanne.
