Turns out that poster understated the difference.

Also, installing the cheapest possible cinder blocks at the Broomfield job in the first place - when the job was finally completed by another company. (to CO's standards), the cinder blocks were the usual, high end blocks that most states expect at their roadside retainer walls.

Also, paying people under the table/as subcontractors.

For whatever reason, he was reduced to trading "landscaping" for a brief stay at the Tradewinds. And if you've seen the picture of his truck as it left Indiana - he clearly needed to rent a trailer. But didn't.

As a good bit of my career has been in construction, I’ll speak to it…steel toe boots don’t blow out. They’re sturdy. As for hunting boots, winter boots, manly boots…he didn’t buy cheap boots. He pitched the boots because they were involved in the crime. He liked to look the part, no way did he wear crappy, cheap boots IMO.

As someone who worked construction of similar type projects for 28+ years NO, it doesn't work like that, especially for municipal work. The materials used are approved ahead of time. The contactor doesn't just use what he wants...the cheapest brick/rock etc. There are standards. Frankly I would be surprised if Barry was ever paid for the first job, ( That shoddy wall )shocked from my experiences actually.

It showed a picture of this beautiful, wealthy couple and their lovely daughters and I thought, wow, they’ve got it all. Love, beauty, success, and happiness. Pictures lie.

Thanks for pointing this out. I have been in commercial/residential…never government. I realize it works differently…wasn’t thinking in terms of municipalities. Thanks for correction. It’s a different beast.

Thank you. I was shocked when I saw the pix of Barry's wall. Not even close to the standard for blocks in CO (or most Western states - we have a lot of dirt moving around, lots of wind and flooding).

I heard that he was paid, but that the DOT immediately asked for repairs/replacement of blocks...

In the PH it was reported that the helmet was found about a 1/2 mile west of the US50/225 intersection on the south, (eastbound), side of US50. Originally this surprised me because AM in his PE interview stated that the helmet, which was found on Thursday, 5/14/20, was located about 20 yards off the trail where he was searching on 5/12/20 and he could not understand how he and his search team had missed it. He also mentioned that one of his team members who was a friend of BM had wandered off while they were searching and they had backtracked to try to find him. Eventually he showed up at the house where they were staying. AM found the whole thing very strange.
I had originally thought that AM was searching a trail on the north side of 50 because he would refer to “up the mountain”. My mistake because US50 west could also be referred to as up the mountain as the road rose up to Monarch Pass.
I went back to look at the map and realized that AM was probably searching along CR226 which parallels 50 and meets 225 right near where the bike was found. I did some rudimentary measurements on google maps to try and get a rough estimate of where the helmet was located, where BM May have pulled over to toss the helmet, and where AM was searching on Tuesday. I’m attaching a couple of maps showing this area.
The defense stated that no tire impressions were found that matched BM’s truck on 50 near the helmet. By my calculations, CR226 is about 200 feet off of US50 in that area. Would it be possible for BM to drive down 226 instead instead of 50 where there would be very little traffic in the early morning hours? He could toss the helmet right up towards 50 from that area.

It's pretty scrubby on Street View, I can see missing a helmet if it fell in/under some brush.

Bike helmets tend to be pretty light, you can't get good distance throwing them ... I used to run a toy department. I don't think he could have gotten much distance trying to toss it up an embankment. I would think if he parked and hiked up to put the helmet 20 yards from the highway that would have been noted in the truck data logs.

I've always thought that he threw the helmet out of the window as he drove past since he wanted it discovered. It may have been closer to the road when he tossed it and a semi coming down the mountain could have generated enough air to blow it deeper into the brush. After all, Barry expected to get the call that Suzanne was missing much earlier in the day.
