I hope he stares out at his & Suzanne's former home ( her place of death) until he can't take it anymore. And chipmunks start waving at him. Chipmunk conga lines, chipmunk rockettes....

This will be his 3rd weekend out on bond. He's got to be getting cranky & antsy & stupid and start running his big mouth soon.

He can stay where he’s at but he has to go to Poncha Springs every single day to have his ankle monitor downloaded. It’s about 12 miles away.

Wednesday, Murphy ruled that Morphew will be able to stay at his home in Maysville, just east of Salida, even though investigators aren't able to track his ankle monitor because the location is so remote and cell service is spotty. Murphy made the condition that Morphew make daily check-ins from nearby Poncha Springs for a daily download as to his whereabouts. Intervention Technology told the court on Sept. 21 that its GPS technology won't work in the remote mountain location.

Top Morphew prosecutor leaving the case to join Pueblo


One of the prosecutors handling the murder trial of Barry Morphew has resigned from the 11 Judicial District.

Deputy District Attorney Jeff Lindsey's last day with the district is Friday, Nov. 5. District Attorney Linda Stanley told The Gazette that Lindsey is headed to Pueblo to work in the 10th Judicial District under DA Jeff Chostner.

"I have resigned my position at this office," Lindsey said in an email, "and will no longer be a point of contact for this or any other case in the 11th Judicial District."

Stanley said Lindsey will be missed, but that his resignation will not be a detriment to the Morphew case. "We wish we had the opportunity to resolve any issues he may have had," said Stanley. She added Lindsey knew the Morphew case well but there are other prosecutors on the team who are just as determined to put Morphew behind bars.

"We are fine. We have four prosecutors and we are looking into hiring at least one more who works on the case full time."

Given the time between hearings and available prep time....one would think that the issue of GPS technology and remote locations in the county would have been reviewed and resolved prior to the judge making a decision about the terms of bond. That was amateur hour imo.

Does anyone honestly think Barry could get a job in Chaffee County now? I'm sure not everyone has read the AA, but still ... I wouldn't get within a mile of him if I were a local and not just because he killed his wife (IMO).

It appears that Barry isn't frequenting the fire dept...could be wrong about that. Those were his buddies....but, doesn't he participate any more?

I think she’s like those women who marry the murderers and serial killers. There’s a certain dark fixation these women have on evil men. There is excitement in the fear, a certain rush in being around someone dangerous. There is also that fifteen minutes of fame that is so alluring.
Unfortunately for these women, they are usually missing something in their own lives and that’s what draws them to these notorious men. MOO

That is true, OC....being in criminal justice, I have seen this myself. This case has a twist, however, and its SD's ex, who also injected himself into the case. Will be interesting to see how he plays into the witness lineup. The question of SD and BM's relationship, and when it started, is one that that guy would know a thing or two about, imo.

It was extremely mild mannered of her, IMO.
He should have been read the riot act!
Egregious thing to do, particularly if the apparently weak prosecution to date is his fault.
Now she's gonna lose manpower while she trains somebody new i and there's a helluva lotta evidence to know and learn.

My point was that the airing of dirty laundry in public won't help the case in any way...its a sign of weakness. Why give the defense anything to exploit?

Well the timing certainly makes sense, as Barry sold his business in January of 2018, to some poor suckers who he scammed into paying 20 times its value.

Although some may question his guilt, Barry being a horrible person is not in dispute. This is merely one example in a long line of them.

At trial....while jurors will have to be vetted for impartiality....I would be shocked if any juror has not been exposed to the matters at hand....it is loaded with notoriety. So, public perception is an element here. If it weren't, then courtroom theatrics wouldn't be necessary. The prosecution making public statements about its current and former staff and vice versa doesn't help the case. Public perception matters, imo. That was my point. Distractions would help the defense, not the prosecution.

You’re right, @Scootie98. That’s one curious trio. The usual scenarios don’t play out here. If SD and FB were in cahoots with BM to disappear SM, it doesn’t make sense that FB would be okay with SD ending up with BM. If SD and FB disappeared FB on their own, the same logic would apply. If SD and BM disappeared SM, SD must have had a very amicable breakup with FB plus a carrot on a string to get FB to report the “suspicious vehicle”. Or, it could be a giant coincidence that FB happened to see a suspicious vehicle near PP on the very day SM disappeared. And I don’t believe in coincidences.

The best move the DA could make at this point is to hire THE best prosecuting attorney money can buy. Someone needs to lay this story out for the jury in a clear and convincing manner. Not piecemeal fashion like we have gotten. But a very organized delivery of the evidence. The evidence IS convincing. But someone needs to put this together for the jury in a damning fashion that ties it all together with ease. There is NO doubt in my mind, but I have been paying attention for a long time. We don't need an amateur here. There are a few on here that could help them out...
