With the voluminous amount of stuff BM discarded in Bloomfield via multiple dumpsters...I can't imagine that he would bring the helmet back home with him...He knew LE would be waiting for him...I personally think he ditched it while snipe hunting, er, I mean Elk watching. No other explanation for him going in that direction on his way to Broomfield.
Well as someone said those telematics in that fancy pants truck he has would say if he rolled the window down if we are to believe it captured 80 other instances of things opening, shutting, and lights going on and off. Surely it must capture windows right?

Yes. Barry got to Maysville at roughly 8:45 pm. They were bagging Suzanne's bike clothes at 9:39pm. They interviewed Barry that night/early morning.
That’s right. I have in my notes that at 1:06 am on 5/11, BM was told that he was free to go but they were going to seize his truck and process it.

If Barry was just “killing time” away from Suzanne and their arguments, why wouldn’t he have stayed local? When was the last time he had seen MM1? He could have hung around the beach job, or DSI, or texted GD if GD had no Mother’s Day plans. I’m sure he could have found a bunch of close by things to do. Then he could have texted MM1 to let him know when she was back, and arrived at PP to see her and her friend. I would imagine that Suzanne would have tried to keep it light and happy in front of a friend also. He could have done all of that and departed at 5:30 with MG for the wall re-do, as planned.
Got me, I was surprised when running away during arguments showed up in Suzanne's grievances. I immediately funneled that one away as a defense counter argument.

I can just imagine Barry initiating an argument to give him the excuse to go and spend time with someone else whilst making it appear it was Suzanne's fault he left.

Don't forget notorious drug lord, "CBD Tim!"

He's the "El Chapo" of Salida.

The fact that he sold CBD products at a farmer's market, notwithstanding.
Those farmer’s markets! Hot beds of illicit carrots and tomatoes

Of course there couldn't have been an argument, as they had the "perfect night."

She was also sleeping when he woke up from the alarm that he set, then did not set.

So Barry taking off after an argument doesn't work for those two reasons alone. There are many more.

He was killing time. Remember he's the guy driving around with a truck full of "stuff". I personally think there was really no other explanation for Sunday in Broomfield other than killing time. I just don't know why...was it an alibi or was he running away from Suzanne and his argument as he had done before.
I absolutely think he was killing time; after he was killing his wife. He needed someone besides himself to discover her missing. His true crime podcasts taught him that.
Let his daughters, whom he loved as much as his wife, go home and find their Mom missing on Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, as young adults often do, they lost track of time and were running late. Now BM is stuck right in the middle of finding/reporting her missing. And so his elaborate plan got off on the wrong foot….

Edit to add:
Darn those illicit vegetables

Scurries away to add salad to Valentine's Day menu

Why lie about it though? Perfect night, a shared steak, a little rumpy pumpy…

Why not just say, listen we argued and I needed some space.

But then to continue the lie all through that day too. Why not just say, I was in a hotel room, watching tv. Because he was creating a phony alibi and disposing of evidence, that’s why.

I wonder if Barry and SD are spending Valentines Day together again this year.

I think it's lovely that she's been helping him get over the loss of his wife, and I think he was being completely truthful when he claimed that there was nothing sexual going on.

I mean, who doesn't spend a couple days holed up with another woman in a hotel room?

And shut their phone off.

And buy them a big bouquet of flowers.

Nothing to see here...

This is one of my favorite Barry lines: "Well, I just, I'll tell you right now, that she is a special person in my life and it's, I've told you before she is a, a dear friend. There is nothing sexual going on with her and I..."

God answered his prayers. "Please give me something". So God sent him SD. Lucky guy!

It does go to show God has a great sense of humour he even set up their first date at one of Barry's favourite places.

Rumpy pumpy!

If Barry and Suzanne had a regular rumpy pumpy nice Saturday together, and Barry was just so exceptionally good at it that Suzanne decided he was, after all, the only man for her, but then they argued so Barry decided to go all airplane-mode-y for a couple days, then Suzanne's true abductor is one lucky dude. Probably The Luckiest SODDI we've ever seen. Barry had no reason to be gone. But was. Barry had no reason to throw her bike down a ravine. But did. Barry discarded tranq materials, teal materials, even his own workboots. No reason. Just did.

Abductor guy is soooooooo grateful for Barry taking the heat off him.

Abductor guy still doesn't understand why Barry burned Suzanne's journal. Head scratcher.

I still think Barry didn't travel 14 miles for 1 helmet.

I wanna know what's down the washed out road.

But here's a possibility. Suzanne may have had two helmets.

In the first case, Barry wasn't trying to stage the most credible of bike rides. No Camelbak, for one.

Where did Suzanne keep her helmet/helmets? Strapped to her bike? On the car seat with her gear?

What if the only reason Barry had her helmet was because it was buckled to her bike? And he was at least smart enough to unbuckle it.

But what if, in Broomfield, he decided her helmet should've been part of the staging?

SD was in the neighborhood. Cleaning. As one does on Mother's Day.

Did Barry send her to retrieve Suzanne's second helmet? We know she knows the way.

I am not a hunter, nor do I play one on t.v.
There is field dressing, when you are out and about.
What do you do with the remains of a kill at home?
Is there a bone pile, minus antlers, that a town uses? Or does that detritus just go in the trash/dumpster at your own house/property?

This journalist says that SD was wearing a wig in the Hotel pics.

Barry Morphew girlfriend arrested for trespassing at former family home

During testimony in a four-day preliminary hearing last month, Darke was seen in photographs checking out of Colorado Springs' Antlers Hotel with Barry Morphew.

The hotel visit was made before he was arrested in his wife's presumed death a year after she went missing. In surveillance still photos shown in court, Morphew can be seen in the hotel lobby carrying luggage and Darke walking behind him wearing a wig.

Lol. Nothing says "I have nothing to hide," like shutting your phone off and having your girlfriend throw on a wig.

Hey Tracker, what would need to happen to get a search team up that mountain?

May be good to plan the first or second week of May so the true conditions of those mountain trails could be experienced. Would be nice to see what/where the 2019-2020 snow pack was. I know it was less than norm but with the thaw going on it could have been pretty messy the higher you go. Monarch closed in March that year due to covid; normally they close for the season the second week of April.

Barry had access to chemicals. Chlorine. Probably Bromide. Tranquilizer sedatives. (He said he tranqued TWO deer -- was there a chance LE would recover two -- not one, not three -- dart parts? He also said he woke them back up.) He would likely have easy access to quikcrete and lime/limestone. He's a scent guy, probably an expert on hiding human scent. Hunter thing.

A cooler, ten feet down, buried under concrete in a slurry of lime, tamped down, God himself would have trouble detecting that.

You know what else we don't know? The girls were away, the Ritters were asked not to come over, Barry had his eye on the hot tub repair guy's schedule, we don't know what Barry's driveway looked like from 5/6 going forward.

Barry may have been lining up what he needed right in front of her. An old blade, an old auger, lime, old work boots. Right in plain sight. Suzanne would never dream he was assembling her grave kit.

I'm not sure Barry needed to dig one though, not with all the pre-dug offerings littering his own backyards. (I say backyards, plural, because, while he felt compelled to guard his property/backyard from Suzanne's searchers, I'm not certain he respected his neighbors' property lines.)

A mine is just so easy. And Busy B loves himself some busyness but why dig the hole if he didn't need to?

I'm 50/50.

JMO

I always think of the other chemical that I'm sure Barry had on hand as a landscaper- Round Up. I just always wonder how long he has been trying to do Suzanne in....like maybe since she got her inheritance? MOO and pure conjecture but who hasn't seen those class action lawsuit commercials about Round Up causing Lymphoma. Did a light bulb go off when he saw those? But it didn't work and she survived? This has been nagging thought in my head and is my own opinion.

Ah. Great. Although I've followed this thread since the beginning, I am forgetting a lot of details from early on. I see it's helpful to keep notes, screenshots, links to early interviews, etc. Collectively, this websleuth group is pretty amazing.

I don’t think so. Remember he said Suzanne had “changed” and gotten more, I won’t use the word Barry used, assertive. I think he just didn’t want change from her, didn’t want the arguments, didn’t want to be challenged and just turned his back and took off. We know he didn’t want divorce…the mother load of arguments probably. And we know he asked if “killing himself” would make her happy…which I doubt he would do. And he slammed on the brakes when arguing in a car..also a reactive stopping action. Run away I can imagine. Look for a hookup…maybe but that doesn’t equate to leaving immediately or reacting immediately from an argument.
