My point?

A murderer is enjoying freedom and some public support due to incompetence.
I honestly don't believe he will be enjoying that freedom for too long. I expect the State to bring charges back by the end of summer, they haven't given up or slowed down on this case at all.

And this time, he will be living the rest of his phony life behind bars where he belongs.

Passing thought: I no longer believe that the first evidence dump was in Broomfield.

MG heard Barry's truck outside her house -- I don't think he was at her house. My money's on the nearest dumpster.

And that leads me to believe his mystery miles on Sunday morning were evidence dumps.

Maybe even Poncha Springs Market.

And possibly up by Monarch. There dumpsters up there?

He must have driven into an area or areas his trailer wouldn't easily go --

Agree -- and we also know that the trailer was not hitched to his Ford when he left for Broomfield -- whatever hour he left. .

Probably so.

As someone who pays my taxes, income and otherwise, I sure do wish the IRS would get in there and stop BM’s practice of paying workers cash that likely goes unreported. (Is he paid likewise for his seemingly undocumented subcontract?). If I were paying a defense attorney $500,000 I’d have to earn quite a bit more than that $500,000 to have it to do so. BM should be no different.
IRS is not concerned. Neither is our government.

Cash business has never been illegal -- underreporting income is illegal.

And speaking of cash -- federal government alone has forced millions of cash transactions by preventing otherwise legal businesses (marijuana) from using banks like any other business!
I agree that it is not the payment in cash that is the problem. It is that it likely signifies that these transactions are not being reported or are being misreported (as something like cost of materials).

I doubt most of his cash payments to workers qualified as payments to independent contractors because BM controlled all the circumstances of the work - as an employer. As an employer, he should have been responsible for collecting their share of certain payroll taxes and paying his share of certain payroll taxes and insurance premiums (unemployment, workers comp) as well as reporting the amounts he paid them to the IRS.

Also, it appears he claimed these same workers as employees for the purpose of the COVID payroll protection loan.

So, they are independent contractors when BM wants to evade responsibility for payroll taxes and unemployment & workers comp premiums (which can be fairly hefty for contractors doing work involving heavy equipment and hard manual labor), but employees when the federal government is passing out free $ for employers during COVID.

ETA: BM is cheating the system. And that chaps my hide because the national debt is now over $30 trillion and honest people like me play by the rules. In a way, it is honest people like me that are unwillingly subsidizing BM’s payment of IE’s fees because, if he were playing by the rules most others honor, he’d be paying those fees out of a smaller bank account. He has more because he cheats all of us.

By most accounts, BM's lived as if he's above the law most of his life. A killer pays no mind to such things the rest of us are mindful of. :)

And he who is permitted to get away with little offenses soon gives himself permission to get away with ever greater offenses.

Heck, some offenders even gain such a distorted view of right and wrong that they declare their greater offense God’s work (as BM appeared to).

I just can't see it happening that soon, even if her body is recovered in the near future.

It would take time to reassemble the case, tie up loose ends, and plan a prosecution strategy. The last thing they'd want is to repeat the same mistakes.

BREAKING: Judge Ramsey Lama has resigned from the bench, citing health reasons. Lama was the judge #BarryMorphew 's now-dismissed murder trial. The trial was scheduled to start yesterday had it not been dismissed without prejudice. Story to come.

The case was dismissed without prejudice April 19 after the prosecution said the lack of a body, or even proof that #SuzanneMorphew is dead, hampered their case. If refiled, defense could argue that this was an attempt to start over with a new judge.

There were many different kinds of grants and loans available during Covid. Payroll protection was one kind. Do we know exactly what loan or grant Barry received? Regardless, if it was payroll protection there was a payback period that may not have ended yet so I don't know that we can unilaterally proclaim Barry cheated the system.

About time!
Sorry Judge L. That’s just the way I see it.

Just read you are ill. I’m sorry about that.
I pray your illness is not what caused you to gut this case. If so, I pray you get well soon and we get a new judge.

Judge Ramsey Lama who was presiding over #BarryMorphew case resigned a week after the dismissal of the charges citing health reasons. Judge Lama wrote a letter saying "after 6.5 years, it is time for me to move on." His last day will be July 25, 2022.

The courts have informed me that Judge Ramsey Lama will be returning to private practice. A press release announcing the judge vacancy will be issued in the coming weeks.

I wonder how Team BM feels about Judge Lama retiring.

  • #598
If BM is charged, maybe Judge Lama can take him on as a client.
