Leaving Statue/Memento?

... family left this statue... meaningful to Suzanne, in a spot that they are not even close to anymore. ... statue [had been] at the front entrance to Puma Path.....and in a public space for random people to come across....

@swedeheart sbm Yes, strange to leave such a sentimental item in a public place. Vulnerable to graffiti, vandalism, breakage.
Or one of those rando's may decide to put it in his mom's front flower bed in loving memory of his mother's mother. A lovely Mother's Day gift?
I hope not.

I find that little memorial commemorating Suzanne at a spot representing an imaginary vanishing spot on an imaginary bike ride a very telling and heartbreaking commentary about what her daughters believe and will always likely believe about what happened to their mother. He who controls the narrative is very powerful indeed. And who wants to believe anything bad about their own father, really?

And @K9Enzo, I don't always think the husband did it. I entertained other possibilities for a good month into this case. But LE has given no indication of a possible stranger abduction and to me it's clear they don't buy the bike ride scenario. Add in all the other stuff with the job site and other oddities, and that's the strong direction I lean in.

Absolutely, @al66pine. This memento was very important to SM. She was very close to her mother. She’s had it with her in life’s most important moments; through recent cancer relapses and when she moved from her home state of IN to CO. If I had something that was very dear to my missing mother or wife, the last thing I would do is leave it out in the elements, near a home I just sold, to be stolen or broken in a spot that was supposed to represent the worst moment of her life. It is almost sacrilegious to me. It seems like an utter lack of caring about something that was so important to the woman you are supposed to love. I would want to hold it near to my heart, not discard it like the woman to whom it belonged. MOO

IMO cadaver dogs can detect human remains 15' deep in soil and over 20 meters in water.

IMO cadever dogs have a high rate of success discovering human remains when they are present in a search area.

Depends how well "packaged" the remains are.

Well, the statue WAS placed there by Barry and the girls. It belonged to Suzanne's mom.

Didn't see that coming.

Whoa. He is really holding tight to that area being significant. As for the statue, it is encircled by 5 rocks... here we go again...

Additionally, that statue meant so much to Suzanne's mom that Suzanne inherited it and moved it with them from Indiana to Colorado which indicates to me that it was important to Suzanne as well... and now its just sitting on the side of a road at a place that everyone knows is of no significance to Suzanne? That truly makes me sad. Jmo I guess.

Thinking of Suzanne today on her big 5-oh! Happy Birthday Beautiful lady. You are remembered and cherished by so many of us who wish we could have known you, and now wish we could just help find you.

Thinking today of all who hold her dear.

Suzanne should be having a fabulous weekend somewhere, celebrating this fun milestone with girlfriends...Palm Springs, spa days, champagne, laughter...something.

One day the truth will come out.
