Why do you think he doesn’t take direction well? I think most people that grow up into adulthood and beyond are very used to taking direction from coaches, trainers etc.

Barry has been self-employed since he left college. He's been the boss for decades. He tells others what to do and when to do it.

It's not easy for him behind bars inside a cage since he led a lifestyle where he controlled nearly everything and everyone around him.

Will he listen to and follow his lawyers' advice? Will he give them free reign? It's most likely that he's spending copious hours in dialogue with them but he'll be the one to determine how to best wrangle back his freedom from the clutches of a competent Sheriff's Investigation coupled with CBI and the FBI and a fierce DAs Office. Much to my delight, the forces are against him.

BBM above.
I am waiting to witness BM's further decline over the next months.
His ego has been greatly affected, and this horrid guy is angry.

This will certainly not be a smooth ride for him, and the more steep bumps, the better.
We'll be watching and waiting......

Leave the Mountain Lion alone, she has been cleared:D
Yes, they both have impeccable alibis - they were having a BBQ with more than a dozen friends and family.

A search warrant is specific and needs to be well thought out before being submitted to the judge. The best, simple, example to help you understand is to suppose you have a case where someone has been murdered by a shotgun blast. You know the victim is in the middle of a bitter divorce with her husband, Jim. A friend heard Jim threaten the victim. A search of records indicates that Jim has a permit for a shotgun.
You write up a search warrant to search Jim’s home for the rifle citing all the reasons why you think the murder weapon might be at Jim’s house, (probable cause), right?
No. You write up the warrant for the rifle and for shotgun shells. Why? If you only write up the warrant to search for the rifle, you can only search in an area of Jim’s house that might contain the rifle such as a closet, the garage, the basement, etc. You can not look in a small drawer because a rifle would not fit in a small drawer. If you open a small drawer and find incriminating evidence, it would not be admissible in court.
Now, if you write up the warrant to include shotgun shells, you could open a small drawer because a shotgun shell would fit in it. If you found something illegal or incriminating in the drawer now, it would be admissible in court because you had a right to search in that drawer.
This is a pretty simplistic example, but shows how important the search warrant affidavit is to a case.
Hope this answers your question, @Skigh.
Edited to add that LE will write up a search warrant as broad as possible provided they have the probable cause to cite why they could reasonably expect to find the items they are looking for.

Thank you for such a clear explanation. In my dreams the pp house was bought by a Websleuther who continued to do a thorough search!!

I think it will be interesting to see the reasoning of mentioning the dark web at the press conference. I for one thought their could be evidence of him implicating himself or pretty damaging evidence with that comment.

I didn’t realize the dark web stuff was mentioned at the press conference. Interesting.

My limited dark web knowledge makes me think it was either 1. Purchasing a weapon 2. Purchasing drugs 3. A chat community that needed to remain out of site, like a local militia or something.

Either way, it points towards a hidden life BM was living in some capacity.

Was it only CM talking about the dark web? Or was this genuinely addressed by LE in one of their releases?

one must be extremely tech savvy to figure out how to connect to the dark web, and there would likely be plenty of evidence of him trying to figure that out and downloading programs etc.
Drugs and weapons, yes, but the dark web is also notorious for finding hitmen. (I think it’s pretty rare to actually encounter a real site for assassins but perps are idiots, a MN man was recently arrested for follow-through on a dark web hitman to kill his wife) MOO

That's my guess.

It wasn't.
This came from the PE guys.
LE has never once mentioned the dark web in connection to this case.

See my above response.

IMO, it has been said that they did interview two mountain lions, but the results were inconclusive.
Barry must have been caterwauling in his cage hearing the results of mountain lions interview were inconclusive.

Regarding the possibility of bail, the general public might not be in peril but certain meth heads and assorted witnesses might have reason to fear. I'm reminded of Frazee's paper towel list.... people he wanted to prevent from talking/testifying, some permanently, some temporarily. It takes a special kind of something to think you can sway public opinion, influence public servants and intimidate everyone else, flight risk notwithstanding.

I was wanting clarification on the “mentioning the dark web at the press conference” @Hoss569 had referred to and now see @Ontario Mom has addressed this. It was Never mentioned in a press release. Rumor put to rest. Thank you Ontario Mom!

The dark web wasn't brought up in a press conference. It was brought up by the PE guys. MOO.

Edit: Sorry, already answered.

With all due respect, it's extremely easy to connect to the dark web. Anyone can do it in less than two minutes. All you need is the Tor browser. Tor is literally the front door to the dark web.
You can download Tor for free and be on the dark web in a matter of minutes.
Knowing where to go is made easy with the Hidden Wiki which is like the phone book of the dark web and also extremely easy to access and find online.
It's a huge misconception that the dark web is this impossible place to access. It's used all the time for everyday browsing by people that don't like being tracked like on the regular internet.

IMO

This is so true. I hope he's never set free and remains in a cage forever. I remember Frazee's paper towel notes, frightening to those he wanted dead or impaired.

The inmate needs to stay right where he is, right where he belongs, in a cage behind bars. Forever.

I tend to think the PE guys got the idea that BM was on the dark web from somewhere, and they are an approved source here on WS. IIRC, when they were approved as a source, we were told it was up to the individual if we believe them or not. Just like any MSM.

I choose to believe them. If they want to continue their presence in true crime on their channels, I doubt they would be making stuff up out of whole cloth.

#BarryMorphew attorney said, "He's been sitting in a jailcell/cage waiting." Prosecutor said "the staff member primarily responsible for the organizing the discovery was sick. There is a boat load of information to culminate. Over 10,000 police reports."

I would like to know if they ever looked at/ considered other suspects....
IMO, Investigation 101- once LE determines they have a criminal investigation on their hands, which Spezze said this was a criminal investigation at his 1st PC, on 5/15/20, the last person known to have been with the victim has to be cleared/ruled out.
LE determined through their investigation that the last person to see SM was BM.
BM would’ve been cleared if Suzanne showed any sign of life on Sunday after he left for Broomfield i.e., active on her phone, or other social media, visibly spotted out somewhere and/or visibly seen on bike/bike ride. BM snookered himself with SM’s phone as he couldn’t take it to Broomfield with him and pretend to be her on Sunday keeping her alive, as he knew her phone shouldn’t be pinging in same location as his on Sunday after he left for Broomfield. And no one, never mind the cops, are going to believe SM didn’t charge, turn on her phone, check for messages, not respond or interact with a single soul on Sunday, Mother’s Day of all days, no less. Her phone is a big part of what ultimately sinks BM, imo. Anyhoo, it is clear that not one person came forward to say they spoke to or saw SM on Sunday, Mothers Day, 5/10/20. Otherwise, we would’ve seen a very different stance/posture by all LE involved.

LE ruled out animal attack and bike accident fairly quickly due to no evidence of either having occurred/left behind at scene. Since LE didn’t handle it as a potential abduction, they apparently found no evidence of an abduction either, otherwise they would’ve pulled out their standard LE/FBI abduction 101 playbook, and released an immediate BOLO, full physical description of SM, held Press Conference holding up flyers of SM etc. I believe they were able to rule all of these things out through routine investigative due diligence and because they found something big early on and determined the bike/bike scene was staged. There would be only 1 person with reason to stage a bike/fake crime scene, the same person who told his neighbor to go check for the bike in the garage.

It’s pretty clear LE knew from very early on what they were dealing with was a homicide and swiftly locked down the PP home till they could get a Judge to sign off on the 1st probable cause search warrant. Once warrant secured, LE searched the PP home for I believe it was 10-11 days, and then went back in early July and executed 2nd probable cause search of the PP home. Also, LE secured a probable cause warrant for search of BM worksite, where they spent 3 days digging up concrete. IMO, LE followed up on every credible tip and lead as part of their due diligence and to see if any other suspects materialized, while they kept trying to rule BM out, and while waiting for forensic testing results. LE conducted numerous searches, a slew of multi state interviews, and plethora of search warrants were executed, per updated CCSO Press Releases.

This isn’t Spezze, CBI, FBI first rodeo, and you can be sure these seasoned professionals did their due diligence, checked every other possible avenue out, other suspects, searches, interviews, followed up on every credible tip, lead, etc. Bottom line- everything, to include test results of evidence collected etc., kept coming back/came right back to the last person to see SM, the prime suspect BM, culminating in his arrest on 5/5/21 for Murder in the 1sr degree, after deliberation.

I believe them, too, and I think the inmate was into the dark web stuff. What he did there is anyone's guess. Learning more about his past, it wouldn't surprise me.

My son, about 20 years ago put the Tor browser on my laptop. I had no idea what it was at the time and never used it. Just hearing the name of it, the dark web, scared me.

Here is a link to the dark web. It's Wikipedia. Very interesting stuff there, but nothing I want to ever venture into. I'm too old for that kind of stuff. Mods if this isn't allowed, please delete.
