I would like to know if they ever looked at/ considered other suspects....
IMO, Investigation 101- once LE determines they have a criminal investigation on their hands, which Spezze said this was a criminal investigation at his 1st PC, on 5/15/20, the last person known to have been with the victim has to be cleared/ruled out.
LE determined through their investigation that the last person to see SM was BM.
BM would’ve been cleared if Suzanne showed any sign of life on Sunday after he left for Broomfield i.e., active on her phone, or other social media, visibly spotted out somewhere and/or visibly seen on bike/bike ride. BM snookered himself with SM’s phone as he couldn’t take it to Broomfield with him and pretend to be her on Sunday keeping her alive, as he knew her phone shouldn’t be pinging in same location as his on Sunday after he left for Broomfield. And no one, never mind the cops, are going to believe SM didn’t charge, turn on her phone, check for messages, not respond or interact with a single soul on Sunday, Mother’s Day of all days, no less. Her phone is a big part of what ultimately sinks BM, imo. Anyhoo, it is clear that not one person came forward to say they spoke to or saw SM on Sunday, Mothers Day, 5/10/20. Otherwise, we would’ve seen a very different stance/posture by all LE involved.
LE ruled out animal attack and bike accident fairly quickly due to no evidence of either having occurred/left behind at scene. Since LE didn’t handle it as a potential abduction, they apparently found no evidence of an abduction either, otherwise they would’ve pulled out their standard LE/FBI abduction 101 playbook, and released an immediate BOLO, full physical description of SM, held Press Conference holding up flyers of SM etc. I believe they were able to rule all of these things out through routine investigative due diligence and because they found something big early on and determined the bike/bike scene was staged. There would be only 1 person with reason to stage a bike/fake crime scene, the same person who told his neighbor to go check for the bike in the garage.
It’s pretty clear LE knew from very early on what they were dealing with was a homicide and swiftly locked down the PP home till they could get a Judge to sign off on the 1st probable cause search warrant. Once warrant secured, LE searched the PP home for I believe it was 10-11 days, and then went back in early July and executed 2nd probable cause search of the PP home. Also, LE secured a probable cause warrant for search of BM worksite, where they spent 3 days digging up concrete. IMO, LE followed up on every credible tip and lead as part of their due diligence and to see if any other suspects materialized, while they kept trying to rule BM out, and while waiting for forensic testing results. LE conducted numerous searches, a slew of multi state interviews, and plethora of search warrants were executed, per updated CCSO Press Releases.
This isn’t Spezze, CBI, FBI first rodeo, and you can be sure these seasoned professionals did their due diligence, checked every other possible avenue out, other suspects, searches, interviews, followed up on every credible tip, lead, etc. Bottom line- everything, to include test results of evidence collected etc., kept coming back/came right back to the last person to see SM, the prime suspect BM, culminating in his arrest on 5/5/21 for Murder in the 1sr degree, after deliberation.
