She could have drowned in the family pool after being tranquilized.
May be that's why he cleaned the pool with bleach to take of any bodily fluid evidence

There could be an even darker scenario, which I will not mention and just hope is never a theory in this case.
I have always thought he used equipment but now? it's a tight timeframe they have laid out. I think he may have shot her with the dart and wrapped her up in sheets - possibly used a cooler - and drove her somewhere he is familiar with. I would like to know about the bleach/chlorine at the house/hotel. I wonder if they will continue discussing May 10 and his movements?

ITA, there is still room for reasonable doubt for even one juror.
Always that chance, but no need to borrow trouble.
There is no explanation for this behavior.
E&N will work to supress as much as possible etc.
MOO no bail and bound over for trial.

BBM

I Agree with the both of you!

My next question is, yes she was sun bathing, but did she have a swim suit on?

@NoSI would be the one to ask, since that very selfie of her was shown in court today.

I can’t believe he tranqued her. But then again, he’s a hunter. Talk about premeditation. He didn’t want blood evidence at the scene, or signs of a struggle. So he used what he does best, his hunting skills to subdue her without her even knowing it was coming. Then on to murder.

We don't know that she never saw it coming.

Have better side view of BM today. Yeah, not wearing mask correctly. Missed that if was also the case yesterday. Mask covers mouth, but not nose.

Can civilians buy tranquilizer darts?
The guns are legal to buy as are the darts. The drugs themselves are controlled.

I did a little research on tranq darts. Some use guns, but they can be shot through a tube, like a straw. There are many different kinds and sizes. I imagine a vet would prescribe the tranqs to responsible first responders, like firemen and fish and game, but I also saw ads for tranqs for horses, dogs, sheep and cattle, in different strengths.

The darts can kill without any tranquilizer, as well as with it, if placed incorrectly. FWIW

I don't even want to think it let alone type it but when it was said that he was moving around the house it certainly did make me wonder if she saw him, saw him carrying whatever weapon he used to fire the tranq dart, and she ran. And he chased her down and shot her with it.

I can't even imagine what the Morphew girls are thinking right now. I can't even get over the cruelty of it, or the horror Suzanne must have felt. :(

We don't know how much tranquilizer was in the dart. It may have taken any number of minutes for Suzanne to pass out and that's only if enough tranquilizer was used. It's possible he used as little as possible in order to incapacitate Suzanne so he could talk to her about exactly what he was doing to her.

I truly believe Barry wanted her to know he was killing her.

The bleach thing is confusing me
I can't think of another reason than to get rid of blood or body fluid evidence
IF he just buried her after strangling, why the bleach?
It's strange huh

I'm really looking forward to NoSI's update later. The tension in the courtroom must be smothering today!

She certianly knew he was killing her for the many minutes the drug took to take hold. Ketamine.

AND if he did sneak up on her, her phone would still be on the messages between her and JL! There's no way he wouldn't read them at that point or when he returns back to the house.
MOO

I am absolutely baffled by this. Stunned. After all of the trash/dumpster stops/hotel/bags/tools/etc testimony, it would take two people to drag my limp, devastated body out of that courtroom chair.
It's. A. Lot. <modsnip>

No way. I’m convinced he disposed of her body the night before, during the period of time his phone was on airplane mode. He must have had a spot already picked out, as he was seemingly following a playbook (phone on airplane, truck reboot).

There was a stunning level of planning here. Fortunately plans frequently go awry, and he didn’t put as much thought into his alibi as phase 1 (murder, disposal).

Anecdotally, that seems to be pretty common.
I think you're right about the level of planning and that he disposed of her body the night before.

In the past, I'd thought unlikely Megnut's suggestion that BM may have used the corpse of an elk (the antler rack which he displayed in his yard) as a coffin for SM's body, but I've changed my mind after learning of that tranquilizer dart cap in the dryer and those discarded hiking boots (laces thrown away at a separate location so as to not have the boots and laces - which likely have his DNA - found in the same place).

I think it possible BM may have had a hole pre-dug somewhere in those mountains. He may also have baited, tranquilized, pre-killed, gutted (and removed the rack from) an elk, the corpse of which would later become SM's coffin. And he may have temporarily buried that elk corpse under a small tree that came in a tree container.

Then, he may have tranquilized SM at the home, placed her sedated body in that now-empty tree container in the back of his rig, drove both up to where he'd temporarily planted the tree and elk corpse, opened back up the hole and removed the tree and elk corpse, dragged SM out of the vehicle and shot her to death, stuffed SM's remains inside the elk's corpse, buried that in the pre-dug hole, and then planted the small tree back over the top. And then he tossed the tree container over a ridge.

Perhaps he didn't even shoot her before he placed her inside the corpse and buried her under that tree. Maybe he liked the idea of SM smothering to death inside that elk corpse under that tree.

On redirect, Lindsey says there were indications that Barry Morphew was 'out there looking' to have an affair. He refers to a screenshot from Barry's phone looking for 'cute girls near Salida,' and defense objects

I'm caught up momentarily!

Barry's goose is cooked!

Someone please tell me why we're upset with JL, the affair guy?

If he had a deer farm, perhaps he had some leftover tranquilizers. A tranq for a chipmunk would not work on a human, chipmunks are about the size of someone's palm or smaller.
