#BarryMorphew had a convo with Janelle and Colton Nebal at the store, according to Neilsen. She is questioning Agent Grusing on his timeline. On May 8, Morphew sent a message to Colton around 1:18 p.m. about getting his hot tub fixed. Asking when he could come out to the home

So there is a thing called ‘spoofing’ which essentially lets you impersonate someone else for text, calls or chats.

Spoofing Evidence — Technology Safety

This my MOO, but I don’t believe the Saturday morning texts between BM and SM were between them. I believe they were between BM and BM (impersonating SM).

It would be too much of a coicindenxe for SM to request hot tub stuff (ie Chrlorine). I think BM created the hiking scenario to make it seem like all was well, and the hot tub store scenario to give an alibi for why he needed chlorine.

Yet, it was nothing more than his premeditated plan to kill SM that afternoon. And this why he was acting so off to MG Saturday morning.

Edit to add one more link on this topic of spoofing and criminal cases:
Text messages require expert witnesses (Four reasons) - Solomon Criminal Defense

It is common in domestic violence and I’m sure something that the FBI is familiar with and has looked in to. Although, I’d imagine that info won’t come out in the prelim but maybe it will.
It's hard for me to imagine they wouldn't bring that up in the prelim if they had found it since it would be rock solid evidence of premeditation. But I guess it could still be coming. Personally I'd be a little surprised if he was capable of spoofing her phone. That's a step up from putting your phone in airplane mode or resetting the truck power. But he may have been trying to monitor her phone for a while, so it's not inconceivable.

Then how did it work in the podcast? And why do tech people say this:

[2021 Update] Does Airplane Mode Stop GPS Tracking?

Do you have a counter-citation, as I would really like to know.

Even if location services and GPS are turned off, it seems that there are now ways to determine where a device was - due to sensors built into phones (for fitness apps, and such).
This technique was published in 2017, and re-published in 2018. Perhaps it is now used by LE when it is needed.

Smartphones can still be tracked even if location services and GPS are turned off, according to Princeton University researchers.

The team--Arsalan Mosenia, Xiaoliang Dai, Prateek Mittal, and Niraj Jha--combined information from phone-based and non-phone sources to determine a device's location. The technique, called PinMe, shows it is possible to track a location even if the location services, GPS, and Wi-Fi are turned off.

Your smartphone can be tracked even if GPS, location services are turned off

And why did it start at 9 today vs 8 yesterday?! That stole an hour..

I get that, but if she isn’t in the car while it’s recorded is it still admissible? Just curious I think the state met their burden today and eventually it’s gonna come down to a fight on the evidence. Just was curious
If he's not talking and it's recording a podcast he's listening to, it's a public broadcast and admissible. Suzanne's conversations with her boyfriend, it's her recording of her own voice - not sure if his voice can be used though, or if she was using earbuds or loud speaker, but it probably depends on laws in his State. I see it as the defense's problem to get that part in for trial. Perhaps not even necessary if they stipulate to the affair.

ETA sorry I just realized you said one party consent, so the bf doesn't need to consent anyway. I was thinking of two party when I wrote that.

Wasn't this "Fix" suppose to have happened at like midnight or close to it? (Per BM)
Moo
BM said that his vehicle data did not match up because he had forgotten to tell investigators about a repair he made to his Bobcat. Time is unknown.

A neighbor to the construction site told investigators that she heard heavy equipment running or idling outside her home either Fri or Sat night. Not sure the night has ever been confirmed publicly.

There was speculation BM was at the site at that time possibly concealing evidence.

You know what would really help us fill in the gaps, and alleviate our issues with vague information?

The AA!
I don't know if this has been posted. Are we assuming that the TOD is between 2:44 p.m. (last selfie sent to JL) and 2:47 p.m. (Barry's phone set to airplane mode)? (I need to check the actual time that the selfie was sent. I thought that I read that it was 2:44 p.m. Other posters say that it was actually 2:11 p.m.)

I figure that he returned home unexpectedly and caught her sending that selfie. That's when he murdered her.

IMO, Barry knew that Suzanne was serious and his threats and manipulations would no longer work. We have a family member who went through a similar split-up with a narcissist. It is amazing how they follow almost the exact same script.

We were afraid for the woman's safety, but she made it out alive. The wife was the breadwinner and also did everything around the house and for the kids.. He was an unbearable know-it-all.

He held on tight, called all of her relatives to badmouth her and play the victim, put tracking on her car and phone, badmouthed her to the kids and is still doing so to this day.

He intimidated her, threatened her, refused to leave the home, called police on her. He even urinated in her Keurig machine.

The divorce dragged on for almost two years when there were no complicated assets involved. He just didn't want to get a real job or let go of his cushy lifestyle. Thank goodness she got out alive.

Sorry that Suzanne was unable to do the same. With Suzanne, bigger bucks were at stake. Barry is probably cringing at having to spend it on lawyers now. I call that poetic justice.

It's sad; however, I don't think that the girls will ever waiver in their allegiance to their father, no matter what.

JMO.

If an individual walked into that store , having just killed someone, and not meaning to, his demeanor would look unusual, likely frantic.

But that wasn't the case that day. Far from it.

Agent Grusings theory is that #BarryMorphew did something to #SuzanneMorphew when he got home on May 9. Chasing Suzanne around the home while she is concious. The push pin map that they presented said it isn't possible for him to move at 45 miles per hour, according to Neilsen.

Please tell me I'm not the only one with information overload, trying to take in todays procedingso_Oo_Oo_O

I am afraid that is what will happen with the jurors. Too much techie info/evidence. Much like when DNA evidence was first utilized. And we know how jurors can be ... [Casey Anthony]
