I hope I'm wrong but I hope again Suzanne did not have someone at their house Mother's day.
She was expecting her daughters and their friend to arrive to spend Mother's Day with her at some point. I don't see her planning some rendezvous when they were arriving soon. Plus, she seemed very enamoured with her lover, who was a few states away at the time. So who would she have over?

Besides, she was dead and dumped before Mother's Day was in full force.

Suzanne is the best witness in the case, imo.

FBI Investigator on stand confirms Suzanne would track Barry through his phone and find my phone app. At times, she would tell her lover Barry was coming home so that they could stop talking. Barry would sometimes put his phone on airplane mode so she couldn't track him #9News

FBI Agent Harris testifies Barry said he and Suzanne had a “perfect night” day before he left for Broomfield and she disappeared. <sbm>

----

This evidence is gold. Suzanne has told people (or a person) this fact before her disappearance - this is knowledge about his M.O., not stated to influence LE or a jury in her own disappearance and murder. It's not LE having tunnel vision - assigning an inculpatory explanation for his phone being in airplane mode for 7 hours while he is having the "perfect" evening at home hiding his location from Suzanne, it's straight from the mouth of the person who lived with it and knew him and his thinking better than anyone else. He just moved his sights from trying to outwit Suzanne to trying to outwit LE. There's no one else with an interest in tracking Barry Morphew.

MOO
The defense has a lot of ammo up their sleeves about this 'airplane mode' definition. The state better get their ducks in a row or it could get destroyed by those defense ladies on this subject.

The Defense will ask a lot of technical questions trying to show that agent Grusing isn't an expert in this area. So the state better get someone else up there to battle wits technologically with them to get this point across to the jury.

Hellooo everyone - (waving to you from the caboose)
I'm still a bit behind in reading. . .

I've noticed that several ppl who were in the courtroom are saying that BM looks much smaller and thinner.

I suspect it's because he no longer has access to his anabolic steroids; rather than he being the forlorn, wrongly-accused widower.

(jmoo of course)

I must admit my train of thought wandered down that route. The last place I would want to be is hiking alone with someone I may not feel comfortable with. That whole texting incident was odd in my personal opinion only. But that's just me.

I think it's very odd, too.

But I was in a situation where I desperately wanted to throw a soon-t0-be-ex out of my house, but I didn't want him to get the advantage on me and take things that were mine before I got some family help lined up, changed locks, etc.

So I was texting him like Suzanne was in that set. Not giving him any idea of what was going to happen. Setting up going for a hike after work, etc so that I could get him out of the house while my family helped get things set up.

And it worked. He was so stunned I was throwing him out.

I knew then and there that I had made the right choice.

Maybe one of you have the PC hearing tweets handy, particularly the ones about MM2’s boyfriend being questioned at the Morphew house the night SUZANNE was reported missing.

<modsnip>

I did a cursory search for links to both the boyfriend’s statement and Andy’s in the media threads, but had no luck yet.

This rumour appears to be being passed around as fact on SM. I have been digging around for any evidence that this occurred. I have not found any as yet. There were claims that the journalist LS mentioned it in one of her live Prelim recaps. I rewatched them all and I could not find any statement that matched the rumour.

That would be a massive smoking gun, if true. Sadly, I think it's a case of wishful thinking.

Today, I wAs trying to think of a better way to have thrown away those small pieces of trash, or things like her teal shirt, etc...I think he could have avoided cameras if he went to a sit down restaurant, like a Denny's or something. At some point he could have gone into the bathroom and thrown something into the trash.

If he carried a plastic bag with him, but only threw away a couple of the items, it wouldn't have shown on the camera if he had discarded anything or not. And those trash cans are dumped at least once a day. JMO

If many items were SM's clothing, why not just burn them.
Surely, he has means to do this, and thus avoid several dumps.
Items that were not completely destroyed, would then be tossed, with much smaller bulk.

This article has things I hadn't see before, sorry if this is a repeat.
  • One of those documents was a list Suzanne made on May 8, entitled “grievances.” It included notes like “wedding ring,” which Barry allegedly took and melted at some point.
  • During questioning in November of 2020, Barry indicated he was shooting chipmunks. Grusing asked him if he was using a .22 caliber rifle, which he said was important because investigators found a tranquilizer dart cap in the Morphew’s dryer, and knew that a .22 caliber rifle would also fire that. Barry confirmed it was the .22 he was using to shoot chipmunks.
  • “Do you still believe you have evidence that he is most likely chasing Suzanne?” Barry’s attorney, Dru Nielson asked. “Yes,” replied Grusing.
“What?” She asked exasperated, “Due to the chipmunk statement?” “Yes,” replied Grusing.
  • “In 10 interviews with Barry, the only thing we could get him to move on was his tranquilizer material from his garage… he couldn’t say which trash run they were disposed in,” said Grusing.
  • Recently mines were searched as well as an Xcel water pipe.
Prosecutors Outline Barry And Suzanne Morphew's Movements On Days Around Her Disappearance

I wonder if LE tried to recreate Barry chasing Suzanne around the house, using an agent with a cell phone running around? If the ping pattern matched what they found with Barry's phone, good chance he really was chasing her. Could they use that in court at trial?

Yes, I believe they could, especially if they work with a digital/GPS expert. Crime scene reconstruction is a thing. It would be better if they actually hired experts who do this kind of thing, but there are companies that make maps and little movies to better explain cell phone movements.

So far, we do not know what Suzanne's cell was doing during these same moments. Did it move around too? Was it stationary in one place? Was it running in some of the same places as Barry's? If it was in one place, where was that place? And so forth.

I still can't believe he admitted to the tranq material when they were discussing trash runs. This guy apparently thought he could bluff his way through 20+ interviews with LE, apparently without an attorney present.

Great plans, that worked for you.:):)
Hope times are now so much better for you.

Here, it appears, BM had been planning his future, for quite some time, even after SM was missing, with his many 'achievements': all of which, will sink the Creep.

I'm confused and trying to understand what you're saying. Agent Grusing isn't a cell phone/GPS expert - but he doesn't have to be. At trial, it will be very different and we may never see Agent Grusing again. Technical experts are super expensive, which is why at prelim, we get sworn testimony from those LE agents who spoke to experts and put the preliminary case against Barry together.

The state doesn't have to have "ducks in a row" at this point. And believe me, the State is absolutely holding some main cards from play at this time.

Airplane mode does not disable GPS on a phone. Common myth, but it doesn't. Was it Grusing who was asked that? Someone was - and they knew the right answer. GPS and cellular tracking are two different things. While GPS is used all the time, cellular tower triangulation is turned during airplane mode, making some of the GPS points less certain. But GPS will show where Barry's phone was during the hours he had it on airplane mode - unless he turned his phone's location services off or turned the phone off entirely. We have heard absolutely nothing about Barry using this feature.

If he turned on airplane mode and turned location services off - for perhaps the first time in the phone's history, that's pretty damning. It'll help pinpoint the exact time when he left the house (in the old RR, most likely) to dispose of Suzanne (who probably was not a body at that point, but a real, breathing, unconscious woman).

Blimey loosing a DVR is quite something, It is the box of magic tricks at the heart of your CCTV System basically without it nothing happens. For it to go missing is ODD. For those that don't know a DVR is a box with a memory in it when cameras record they can save to the memory (hard copy until over written) and most have the ability to upload or save to the cloud. Without the box(dvr) being attached
nothing works. This sort of thing does not simply go missing.
To me, that wouldn't point to Suzanne. She was not meeting her lover at the home. She was traveling out of state to do so. The only thing she was hiding at home was her texting and her calls. So no need to ditch the DVR.

Barry, however, had reason to get rid of it. He was manuevering cars around, loading and unloading things at odd hours, coming and going at strange times, and the DVR could bring him a death sentence.

OKay, thank you for talking me off the ledge...:)...I guess their little ploy with the Cellubriute tech and their song and dance about him walking through doors and 45 mph got in to my head.

I know this area and I know this territory. I am from Salina Ks. But I owned a home by the Old School for the Deaf And Blind in the Springs.
Most of my Cousins lived in Westminster CO. But on his trash dump, I recognized the hotel we nicked named the "2 Call, No Tell Motel"
Plus there are plenty of spas around there that don't sell chlorine. It could be a coincidence , in that area, they are all the same.

That's what me mate Dave tells me. IMO and IDO

Remember all the back and forth with the video and cell phone experts in the Heather Elvis case? What about that surprise video of the Moorer family cleaning the truck and burning the rags, which we never knew existed until trial? The whole case was circumstantial, and the State gained TWO convictions.

This case is going to be a walk in the park, Barry is never going to hunt chipmunks again.

@10ofRods (or anyone who knows) -- a clarification please for me who is at kindergarten-level with phone tech stuff:

If my "location services" is off on my phone, I understand that I can't then use customer-oriented GPS functions like traffic navigation, finding what stores are nearby, recording my exercise route, etc.

But does having Location Services off also mean that LE couldn't track my phone if I were to be lost? (and what about if phone was turned on or off, in airplane mode or not?)

I keep Location Services off for marketing privacy, but I have no reason to want to be under the radar for LE/safety type reasons, so I'd like to understand the distinctions.

Thanks in advance!

Also something else, I keep forgetting to mention, reading about when one of Suzanne's friends asked BM (when they were wired), what was the last thing Suzanne said to BM. . .
and he stumbled for an answer.

Usually, and I say, usually, the last thing anybody ever says to another before disappearing, it becomes like a recording on repeat, playing over and over -- doing the hamster wheel thing.

Barry had nothing.

I think the defense would do well to remember that mud slings both ways. I imagine there are many new things that will become known between now and when this case goes to trial

We had two days of the defense “tsk tsk ing about SM’s affair” while the daughters fawned over Barry and clung to each other inside the court weeping. The girls are being used as pawns by the defense. If Barry and his family loved these girls, they would shield them from the courtroom drama and media. The girls would be better served watching the proceeding at home by webex where they can process their emotions privately and safely. But they are there in service to BM.

BM’s mother and sister sit in the court as though they are the aggrieved parties. The sister lashes out at Lauren for ruining their family? No logical reason for that but a distinct need to blame others and not take ownership

Just another moment for Shirley the matriarch, where her boy needs her. She has always run at a moments notice to the rescue. So unhealthy the whole dynamic. So hard to untangle the levels of denial and hoops of justification they jump through.

In a week we will have the final two days of the four day hearing.

For those two days we will have some of SM ‘s family there in the court room as well
( As per Lauren on the most recent youtube postedup thread where she and Chris are interviewed)

Their presence will be powerful and will help level the optics in the court room

I have heard enough at this point to believe that Barry will be held without bond and that he will go to trial
For others who are not so sure this should go to trial, let’s see what two remaining days bring

ALL the above totally IMO only
I hope they don't pull these theatrics during the trial. The girls blowing kisses to Daddy, mouthing We Love You, crying inconsolably when they see the bicycle, like it was really Mommy's last known location...

Suzanne's Phone was last pinged at 4:23 a.m. on May 10, 2020, on the Poncha Springs tour. MH was coming out of the garage when deputies arrived to the Morphew home.

M explains he is one of the daughter's boyfriends. He noticed that Suzanne's car was home, but bike was gone. He told deputies that Suzanne typically brings her car with her when she goes mountain biking. (Bodycam video)

M and his father describe places where Suzanne goes biking as well as what she typically wears. The deputy asked M what Barry and Suzanne's relationship was like, "They've had some problems in the past. They have talked about separating. I've known this through Macy."

In an article:
When authorities reached the Morphew home that day, MH, a boyfriend of one of the Morphew daughters, was walking out of the garage. He told deputies that the Morphew daughters were not at the home, and he had searched for Suzanne there, but came up empty. Hsaid she had never gone up the trail where her bike was found because it was a “crazy climb” with a large elevation gain.

In a separate body camera video, a deputy asked H if Suzanne and Barry had problems and he said they had some in the past but called it normal husband-and-wife-type stuff.

@TexieLouWho21 there was definitely a Bobcat at the home construction site. It was visible in some of the aerial video that appeared in news reports.

What I can't swear is whether it was BM's same machine or not. My impression was that it was a different machine.

That video should be findable in the media thread for this case.

MOO
Thank you. I went back and looked at the video. I can't get a close enough look. I can definitely tell there's a trackhoe there. I can't read the makers name.

I think there were strong bans on burning during this time because of wildfire concerns. He probably wouldn't want to bring any attention to himself burning anything anyway. IF authorities did come and find remnants of her clothing---very bad look for him.

  • #200
I think it’s a valid comment though (but I disagree with it). The defense will latch on to it to discredit SMs character. Because if she is Saint SM, the jury may have more compassion towards her. Of course it shouldn’t matter, but it jurors often show bias.
I know what you mean. What would be really honorable would be if a woman who had an affair with Barry came forward because she was annoyed at how Suzanne was being portrayed. And if the defense starts villanizing SM in a particularly vicious way, the women in the area should stage a protest at the courthouse for the next few days. If I lived nearby I would definitely go.
