Why would darts expire? The controlled RX used in them would have an expiration date. I think BM kept the darts at PP. I think he used them on his deer farm and was familiar with their use. Where and when he obtained a drug to use in them is still unknown. But he could have had legal access to an RX in Indiana that he brought to PP. His weapon of choice was probably based on knowledge, access and convenience. I'll be surprised if he had to pilfer either. I'll also be surprised if the defense can place any of it in someone else's hands.

I don't think anyone means the phrase "darts expire" to mean that the actual plastic and needle expires. I think if the phrase is used, it's generally understood to mean the contents of the dart expire.

You're right that he could have had an Rx in Indiana. Or he could have bought it online where an online vet approves use.

Or he could have just gotten it in Mexico. Or on the street. I doubt LE knows exactly what he used.

My question is whether shooting a plastic dart through a .22 rifle would leave discernible plastic in the rifle. My bet is that it would.

Only prefilled darts would expire. I have never owned a deer farm nor have I shot a tranquilizer dart, so I am pretty much talking out of my butt on this one. Maybe Barry owned his own darts, and I assume the syringes expire, like most drugs do. I am just throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks. I am sure there are others here with more info on wildlife firefighting and the tranquilizer dart supply chain.

I was reading about deer farms yesterday and realized anyone professionally managing one as a moneymaking enterprise would attend training and have the supplies needed to tranq them. I always thought deer were managed naturally not breeded and pinned (fenced in) for "canned" hunts. Now I know better. We could have a very interesting discussion about the ethics of that but don't want to get off topic. MOO

Very true. He had probably planned to go to Broomfield so he wouldn't be available on Sunday, either. I think I read he planned the Broomfield job on May 7th, but I can't be sure.

But when did he book the hotel originally...and did those reservations change at any time? For example...what if the original check in was for Monday, not Sunday...then changed over the weekend? I am very curious about the room booking. He claims he got the room for his crew...but he is the one checking into the room and occupies it for several hours...so how is it their room, not his? Did he check in prior to normal check in time? If so, how did that happen?

We don’t know much yet about the type of tranquilizer (if any) contained in the darts. But a quick Web search brought up at least one form - Xylazine (veterinary) that could be ordered online. I didn’t complete the order, but there were no restrictions listed in the ordering process (aside from completing an account.)

Just watched "how to" on RDDs (remote delivery darts)
Refreshing to hear someone talking about the RDDs being used normally, to deliver antibiotics and vaccines.
The caps are so much smaller than I thought. Basically a small collar bead on the needle that is pushed up the needle on impact, and then pressure triggers the spring inside the dart that injects liquid into the subject.
If Suzanne was on a towel sunbathing, maybe that was what was washed, the towel.
The small translucent "cap" which seems to really be a small bead, or a thin cap bead meant to be pierced on impact, ended up with the towel and eventually landed in the vent or lint trap.
It looks very easy to lose.

Okay, I'm really really curious. Why would you doubt that Barry would pilfer? He's clearly antisocial in several respects, why would he draw a line there?

He borrowed money from his father-in-law to buy the PP house then tried to make it all Suzanne's responsibility. He apparently borrowed money from friends without a note (I wonder if he paid them back?) He went to court to get Suzanne's share of the Indiana house proceeds when her body was barely cold. He did a terrible job on the retaining wall and then worked without a permit on it, on a Sunday. He illegally dumped trash in containers not his own. He tried to influence or bribe 5 public officials. He sent in a ballot, committing perjury by attesting with his signature that it was Suzanne's ballot. He sent 2 men to threaten MG, in order to have her withhold her phone from LE. He called his workers "meth heads" in public. He opposed his wife's use of pain killers while under treatment for cancer.

None of this seems like ethical or nice behavior.

I do agree that he's cagey, so finding a way to acquire the required drugs on one of his Mexico trips seems in line with what he'd do, so I do agree he could find a way not to pilfer.

I'm sure we'll find out at trial, in any case. I think Barry has pretty much blown any defense as to the tranq darts, as I don't think the jury will buy the chipmunk idea. It's ridiculous.

We haven't heard when he originally booked the room. Hope we find that out next week. He might have told the hotel others would be occupying the room because he left his tools in the lobby for them to use on the wall.

I don't know how he could have checked in early. I remember someone stating he was hoping to get a free breakfast, but if he couldn't check in early then I don't think he would have gotten one. Besides, were they even offering breakfasts during covid?

Has it been established that he even visited that job site on Sunday?

This makes me think they don't have any concrete evidence about the the tranq dart. It's just a theory and one the defense can poke a lot of holes in. I think it's going to be real difficult for the prosecution to prove it was used in a homicide. Of course they still have a lot to go.

I definitely think he would pilfer. I just don't think he needed to in choosing his weapon and ammunition to tranq or kill his wife.

I would never argue his good character. Because everything we know about him would bury me in a pile of ugly evidence.

If I were committing a crime, I would use what I have and what I know. That's all I'm saying he did.

Was there ever any MSM or other confirmtation of it being a church camp? I ask because I was following along on the official Search for Suzanne FB page, which had her mother, an aunt, several Salidans and others on it. At first, it just "camping in Idaho," and I don't know where that came from. But eventually, the idea that it was a church camp was floated, but I believe Barry's mom said not a church camp, but there was a chaperone. Now I believe it was MM1's BF who was with them and there was another girl there too, so not two girls and two boys (as we discussed here). And not Idaho, Utah.

Actually, it was both: I believe it was the Verified Insider for this case that first introduced the alleged "church" element followed by AM on Dr. Phil (MSM) citing that the girls were away on a church trip. WS TOS prevented further discussion on this topic where it's been sufficient to say the daughters were not present in Colorado when SM disappeared.

He admonished MG and JP as meth heads , The ones that went out of their way to go the the hotel and do a job on a Holiday and Sunday (that's a no no) . I.E. his alibi.
It had to do, in part, from the hotel chlorine smell.
But then, In his animation he said " I even smelled chlorine, The hotel uses it for COVID.
The hotel does not use it.
Talk about biting that alibi hand that feeds you. Jeez. IMO

Hw was cleaning out his garage and threw away a packet of syringe darts in Broomfield during one of his 6 trash dumps.

But he didn't clean up his truck at the same time, he left it messy inside and out.

I've never read if the darts found in trash were prefilled or the empty type. If prefilled with some tranquilizer then that's much better evidence than if empty. hopefully we find out next week. I sure hope the prosecution team has some slam dunk stuff so far it's been slightly hazy for me. MOO.

LOL - Well, the judge did at least one good deed, however unintended? With all the confusion caused by only having tweets of the proceedings, I'm hoping he will release transcripts or the AA. BUT I'm not holding my breath.
