If he really did initially think SM was kidnapped for ransom, I can see how he’d abandon this idea after no one contacted him for payment. Then I suppose his mind would cast about for other explanations.

I’m not sure I think this is what’s going on, but it’s possible.
This probably sounds bad, but I feel like it’s very arrogant of Barry to assume Suzanne was kidnapped for ransom. How self-important do you have to think you are to think someone’s going to kidnap your wife for money?

It’s difficult to find specific statistics because googling produces a lot of stories about Americans being kidnapped in other countries for political reasons, but the last one I could find that happened in America was 1976 when children were kidnapped on their school bus and the kidnappers demanded ransoms from their families.

If anyone can find any better info than I was able to find, I’d like to see it because the topic does interest me.

If you killed someone you wouldn't be comfortable talking to a stranger either

Well, there are lots of killers who have talked to strangers. We can start with Letecia Stauch, who even blabbed on the phone to a total stranger (unless you count random FB group meetings as actually "knowing" someone). Members of the press are "strangers" but worse than that - the entire audience out in Medialand are all strangers. So Letecia Stauch managed to hit both of those audiences (whereas Chris Watts only appealed through media, AFAIK). Scott Peterson also spoke to plenty of people.

Maybe TD had a persona that was familiar to BM and BM fell for it. My curiosity is piqued by the friends BM has had around him (mostly firemen?) How close is he with those friends? If he readily strikes up convos with randos (which some people do and can't help doing), then he definitely would have a network of acquaintances.

So yeah, even if people kill people, they do talk to people they don't know, either one on one, or through the media.

Thx for green bolded! Holy cows. That is a major kerduffle, describing the bike as "crashed" less than 24 hours after she was reported missing. I imagine, if the bike was staged, it was staged to look "crashed." This looks like an example of the stager thinking he was smarter that he really was, not realizing that divulging this information would incriminate him. Moo

And if BM wasn't the author of that message to the church in IN, telling them SM's bike was crashed, then who was it?
Who else would send their old church a message asking for prayer?
Who would know that her bike was found "crashed" and how would they know that?
Did the same person contact the person in charge of the prayer chain at the new church?

At first I didn't think it was BM that sent the message because the article says “Barry is just beside himself and so are the rest of us because they can’t find her,” the message, sent on May 11, reads in part." ‘They can’t find her’: Message to church group shows desperate plea in early days of search for missing Colorado mom Suzanne Morphew [REPORT]

Those first few days, it was TN doing all the speaking, so I thought maybe it was him that sent this message but it sort of doesn't make sense he'd contact their old church in a previous state where they lived.

Ellen Killoran wrote this article and I don't think she's a member here, but @leighEg is, so maybe we can ask her to ask EK to join us

When Colorado Channel 2 reporter asked Mr. Morphew if he’s interested in making a public plea, Mr. Morphew said “at this point it’s simply too soon”.

I've wondered why he said this. I would be making a plea if it were me.
IMO
Maybe he honestly thought she was attacked by an animal. I remember when I was a kid my uncle would always talk about mountain lions and how they attack people in Colorado. I was horrified of even going to the backyard.

Hmm why isn’t he sticking to one story if that’s what he truly believes happened to his wife of 32 years but he’s throwing whatever out there hoping people will have the mindset he had nothing to do with it and buy one of his 3 choices. JMO

Surely he knows that her bike is gone and was recovered as evidence? He seems to underscore that the bike was found (in a ravine-like place? I can't tell) and that means it couldn't also be still at home. Unless she had two bikes. Even then, he would know that one was missing.

They married in 1994, according to the date of marriage and her age inscribed on it (23). Suzanne was born in 1971. There is an oddity on their marriage certificate, in that the clerk recorded the date as 1992, whereas the minister recorded it as 1994 and Susan and Barry's ages are what they should have been in 1994, and are consistent with their stated graduation dates from Purdue.

She did not marry him when she was 17. I am not sure how that keeps getting posted here - if someone can show a different marriage cert than the one posted on the first thread or otherwise correct me if I'm wrong, that would be helpful.

“Draper said he contacted the Chaffee County Sheriff’s tip line and left at least one message about his encounters with Morphew, but as of Monday evening had not heard back.“

BBM

Interesting portion of this article. Why would LE not have contacted him as of tonight, almost 40 hours after the tip was called in?

YouTuber who ‘secretly’ recorded video of Barry Morphew discussing wife’s disappearance says he believes Suzanne Morphew’s husband knew the camera was on
I'm not sure. Perhaps because he contacted LE after the video was posted on social media? Or maybe they are doing forensic analysis of the videos first. BM didn't do anything illegal that I could see in the videos. And whether BM knew he was recording or not, it's irrelevant and I don't see LE wasting their time on it. I do find it interesting that TD says BM's face looked like a "zombie" and then said BM didn't look at him.

So how are the police keeping all those 100+ searchers mum about the bike and it's current location???not one leak AMAZING.

I don't think it's been exactly mum silence regarding the bike's location.
Somebody among the police and 100+ searchers told the family the bike was recovered the same night SM vanished, and somebody told that the bike was found ...

1) leaning against a tree,
2) on or under a bridge, and
3) in a ravine -- because we have MSM sources for all the above!

I believe the current location of the bike a police evidence locker in Chaffee County. Otherwise, I think the overall question is best answered reading the Sheriff's bio and the team of agencies and professionals working on this missing person investigation. I'm confident SM's recovery is their number one priority.

We can't work on the supposition from BM that LE spotted the mountain lion. We have never heard LE verify that.

In fact the CCSO does not believe SM was killed by a mountain lion.

We don't know what all LE took out of the house or why. Or what pictures they took. Because of this, we can not say abduction from the a trail is the only theory that makes sense at this point.

The bicycle was found.....again supposition. We have no verification from LE.

Possibly because BM told him where to meet him! MOO
The Morphew's home is actually not that far from the bridge. TD pointed out the surroundings before he found himself talking to BM. More than once he pointed out their home. I suspect he was there because it was close to their home and there are only so many roads / trails near there ... most if not all of which have been mentioned in news reports about SM's disappearance. MOO

I don't believe we will learn the state of the bike from LE anytime soon as the Sheriff declined to comment about it at the first press conference.

If a mountain lion was sighted, the Sheriff stated at the first presser he does not believe an animal attack part of this case.

The family member is known -- it was TN. You can hear his audio account to CBS at the link below.

'We Want Her Back': $200,000 Reward Offered In Search For Suzanne Morphew

I have no expectation that LE will publically confirm anything about this case until after an arrest. And we may be in for a long wait. MOO
Ok, thanks again.

I keep thinking another family member had weighed in somewhere.
Back to media thread I go...

That was me. I see nothing there and the first comment under discussion is asking what happened to the videos. Do I need to be logged in or something?

No, he took his videos down. According to DWAP and his video with a local news reporter today, TD apparently was frightened by texts he was receiving. What can be seen on TD's YouTube page are comments discussing his videos.

Good observations. I think it's logical that BM authored the message to his old church because 1) it's his old church (not anyone else's in the immediate circle, other than SM) and 2) the citing of mountain lion and bike crash are 100% consistent with what he relayed to TD on the YT video. MOO

I know it’s unconfirmed that he really sent that email to his old church, but I am inclined to believe he did, in order to start a narrative.

I am also inclined to believe it because the Sheriff almost immediately made a point to address the “animal attack” idea and indicate they thought it was not a likely possibility...with the words unsaid being “nice try, but we know better.”

People who aren’t familiar with animal attacks know that the animal doesn’t just swallow the person whole. It’s not like they’re penguins gulping down a fish.

I suppose it could be a very dainty mountain lion who prefers to have the correct ambience while they eat...carefully drag human to den, light candles, indulge, thoughtfully fold clothing and place in a pile with shoes, to be disposed of in the appropriate trash receptacle the next day...

I really hope she doesn't mind but I must take a page from @Warwick7's book and just say...

BAM!! (to the bolded, but all of it, really)

How do we know that? Seriously...Why is LE refusing to acknowledge the bike? For all we know a bike was never recovered.

I remember with Gannon's case questioning why won't LE speak about the video by Roderrick Drayton, it was a huge part of the story at the time. What's the truth? Did Gannon come home or not? Why did Al cry? Did Al really cry? Are they keeping quiet to just to make Letecia squirm?

Turns out LE didn't know, maybe that's the case here.

Back to the question...why is LE refusing to
acknowledge the bike? Any ideas?

IMHO, it was probably BM’s mom. She may still attend there when she’s back home in Indiana. The email was probably informing the church of SM’s disappearance and asking for prayer.

Ok going off what you said and to be clear I respect your opinion. People were saying how it was suspect when Barry said it was too soon for an interview or plea. We know Watts killed his family and he gave the interview right there on the spot. How does Barry not giving an interview or plea on the spot make him look guilty when we know a man who did killed his. Pregnant wife buried her, he killed his unborn baby boy and 2 kids and put them in oil tanks?
I hope I fixed the broken quote correctly.

My guess is he and LE didn't want to make a public plea until the mountain lion--which had been seen by LE--was ruled out.

Well if BM was looking for something in the creek, I wish LE would go back there and help him find it. Moo

BBM:

Something tells me they weren't invited to accompany him on his little jaunt.

Probably just a simple oversight on his part.

After all, I'm sure he'd want LE to help him search for signs of her.

I mean, why wouldn't he?

Once more, with feeling:

Why wouldn't he?

JMO.

MOO, IMO I do not believe BM thinks she was attacked by an animal.
Not for one second.
When did #3 scenario become an introduction? BM thinks she may have been hit by a car and washed away by the river?
What?
Could this explain why he emerged wet, frantic and half clothed?
IMO, this video along with the 26 second plea are nothing more than a defense strategy for the jury.

Lol you guys think he was in the creek? Even though Tyson said it was raining pretty hard? That would be insane... i can't imagine
