Yes. That is what is confusing about this. But the house is cleared as of a week ago. So she never made it back, after she left with her bike.
We don’t know that she left with her bike.

But what if one of the neighbor videos hold evidence of Barry’s guilt? That would seal the case for them.

Or, if there is some type of stranger abduction, they would be derelict in their duty not to review the videos. Just strange.

I can only guess they feel they have an airtight case against BM. If so, why not arrest him?
I think they probably do have a good case against BM, and asking neighbours to keep video is just extra insurance if needed.
There must have been something very obvious near the beginning for LE to hone in on BM.
Maybe neighbour went back and reviewed her own CCTV and found something telling like BM loading a bike into his vehicle.

We do not know if they did or did not look for anyone else. Unfortunately many people (outside of Chaffee County), in fact all over the world, have gone missing and have never been found, despite multiple searches by LE and other agencies, or their remains are found years later. Sometimes no one knows what led to their disappearance or death. I know of way too many cases like this, way too many to list. I think LE is doing everything they can to solve this mystery.
No LE is doing everything they can to make the husband the culprit. digging up cement slab, sifting, give me a break.

It's all very confusing. Looks, like there are more than one parties involved with muddying the waters in different forms. One party is BM, but who is the other party or who are the other parties? Is it friend or foe to BM? Re the disappearing of his wife, BM may be cheated by someone he (still) trusts. Maybe, it's the abductor himself?
LE should have a strong interest in the anonyme "family friend", who has put the reward up to $200,000, IF the donor isn't known to LE yet, IMO.
-.-.-.-
Btw: Days ago I dreamed, SM was lured to a monastery. .... Nothing more to it. I woke up startled.:(

Intriguing question. Volunteers have certainly banded together to look for missing aircraft wreckage using satellite imagery.

I was a very active volunteer on the Tomnod satellite imagery crowdsourcing experiment. The idea of using "spy in the sky" technology for LE searches began in December 1972, when SR721 Blackbird high altitude spycraft were used to image the entire path of the jet airliner hijacked by DB Cooper. Volumes of excellent images were produced, but there was no way for LE to process that into useful information. Technology has advanced to the point that broad area imagery is now available for many "bands" of the geography which are used every day for weather mapping, etc. Tomnod sought to use crowdsourcing to thoroughly examine these "band" images searching for specific large targets. The best known search was for the missing Flight MH370 which broke up on impact with the ocean surface, with large pieces floating over a thousand miles through thousands of satellite images that were thoroughly searched by Tomnod crowdsourcing without enough consistency of hits to warrant further search of even a single piece of debris. The debris was there, we just didn't see it. Tomnod was more successful in mapping massive storm damage, gigantic fires, etc but the crowdsourcing process turned out to be too slow for practical use in emergency remediation. It is a milestone in the development of the yet-to-be-practical use of high-altitude imagery for search and rescue, or emergency response searching. The Tomnod project was discontinued and has completely disbanded.
So the bottom line is..........NO, satellite imagery is not practical to use on this case. IMO

IMO LE is following up on tips trying to solve her going missing - nothing wrong with that right?

While I respect your opinion, and I like to stay open minded myself, I don’t think you understand how law enforcement works. They don’t “make” a case about anything or anyone. They follow leads. All of them.

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe LE have ever said anything about BM unless asked questions about him by media. As other members have noted, LE could be looking at someone close to BM, and not BM himself.

We don’t know what they know. But we know they know much more than we do.

It really is interesting how differently people perceive others. In the video, I found BM not relaxed at all. Detached for sure. With an underlying edge, IMO. I personally just didn’t buy that Mr Nice Guy—let’s take a walk and I’ll tell you all about what happened and also how LE messed it up, etc.

I agree with you that the experts on this forum are pure gold. But what I think makes them so reliable is that they don’t come to conclusions based on “gut feelings”—they’ve followed so many cases, they have a real knowledge of human behavior, LE, legal issues, forensics, etc. I’ve learned so much from some of the people here.
That’s it. I agree with everything you said about the posters here. I’m thankful for our experts too. Great group.
There are posters here who aren’t experts that I truly admire also.

Yes, but if they cannot find her body they may need to take more time to collect and analyze the evidence. They have to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and we don't know if there's one piece left or lot's of pieces. Maybe that's what the OP meant.
Oh ok. That’s not how I took it but I agree.

I hope not. That would be so sad for her girls to always be wondering where their mother is. IF BM is guilty maybe he will eventually confess it out of guilt and for his daughters’ sake. Being married that long surely he did love her once or still but may have lost his temper and did something by accident. If that’s the case maybe he will come to the realization that carrying the guilt and the amount of energy it takes to carry on the deceit is harder than telling the truth. Hopefully LE is still talking to him and saying we understand these things can happen and if you love your family be a “real man” and take responsibility for your actions. Maybe LE can offer a “deal” for leading them to her body...no capital punishment but maybe less than life or something?
Well I have been hoping for that. And if he is guilty and loves his girls, he will do that. Let’s hope.

JMO, based on cases I’ve seen over the years. When the arrest will be a shock to the family, they may have extra reasons to be meticulously prepared before making an arrest.

MOO...and I hope he’s innocent.
Hundred percent agree Truecolors.

Lauren Scharf did an off the cuff interview DWAP (Lauren from Fox21 news). I had no idea who he was and I’m not certain he’s credible. I do know she is and works for a TV Station that has been covering the missing Person’s case Since it was reported by CCSO. I wouldn’t encourage you to waste your time watching it 1:12 , unless you have a FF button. He asks her what she has and has not been able to confirm with CCSO and CBI Media Relations. In those answers is when she says that LE had not reached out to TD and he in fact had called in the tip the night of the interview.

BBM

I’ll link in the YT video But I am adding SB in case the link needs to be removed. I found it while searching for the video TD made with BM. @sillybilly , is this allowable?

Thank you so much. I don’t think DWAP is approved here. But I would take your word on Lauren.

I think what LE was really trying to put out to the public was a warning for residents not to record over the dates May 8 - May 12 to prevent any data they may want to review for that period to be lost forever. I don't believe LE expects residents to have data so critical to BM's guilt but want the ability to review it.

“We are aware that some systems override video after several days, and we want to ensure video remains available if needed.”

As Missing Person Search Continues, Chaffee Sheriff's Office Asks Residents to Preserve Video - by Jan Wondra - Ark Valley Voice
Ah ok. Makes sense of course. And I know LE knows how to investigate. I was just wondering. Thanks.

iirc, LE asked neighbors to review their surveillance videos. After all, several weeks after Mollie Tibbetts disappeared it was a home security video someone discovered and sent it to LE that broke the case wide open. I seriously doubt LE has the investigative resources to go through all the home security video.

JMO
But there aren’t many neighbors iirc. The Morphews home is rather isolated. Your point is a good one though.

  • #575
I find it highly unlikely the daughters were out of cell phone range on their trip to return home because they were able to connect with the neighbor and their dad.
The cell phone records of SM's phone most certainly would show her call detail for last calls. It's not some vast mystery that LE doesn't know by now.

JMO

To clarify, I meant that the daughters may have been out of cell phone range while camping. It mean they couldn’t speak to SM by phone until they began their trip home, and may explain why LE are now looking for tips about people who’ve spoken to SM since the last reported time.

It appears to be a fact that they did try to contact her on their way home, but were unable to reach her.

I agree that the cell phone records are probably very helpful for LE.

MOO

I am feeling very sad and feeling the same way. I am usually optimistic, but maybe it's a sign of the times - I don't feel optimistic about Suzanne's disappearance.

In fact, I'm thinking that all these people "isolating" from each other means that there are many more vulnerable (isolated) people. We all know that opportunists look for isolated individuals or moments when a target is isolated.

How do you handle these cases, @Love Never Fails ? this one is really getting to me.
How do I handle them? I come to WS and read all the opinions. I love your posts because of your expertise. And so it is with others. Some of you can just see what is staring me in the face and I will argue with it. It is so hard to come to grips with the ugly realities of life. Once I am convinced someone is guilty I am ready to nail them to the wall. Until then, I try to find every way in the world to believe their innocence.

I get emotional. How does one live with someone and take their life? I mean if someone was trying to hurt me or my family I would still find it hard to hurt them physically.

And when someone hurts a child, as in the case of Leticia Stauch, I want her to suffer and that’s probably not healthy that I feel that way.

Ah but Suzanne. Such a lovely woman. I don’t want her husband to be guilty.

All of you here help me. I’m opinionated but reading here opens my eyes a lot!

As for the isolation, do you mean because of Covid or having a home that is isolated from others? I would love having a home in the forest. But within walking distance, I would want a mall, a Kroger and a Walgreens. Lol!
ETA: and a Chick Fil A!

If you mean isolated because of Covid, I am very opinionated on that and I will keep that to myself so I don’t start a war.

If there is video evidence BM was involved in the disposal of the bicycle, that should be sufficient to send him to prison. I'm not aware of any such evidence, are you?

JMO
No. Unfortunately they aren’t sharing any evidence with us. Cruel isn’t it?

  • #578
Why would we, the public, have any knowledge of what Law Enforcement is doing with regard to the videos or anything else in this case? LE's silence does not mean that they're not working very hard on this case. Why does this issue come up over and over again on Websleuths? It's frustrating.
Because inquiring minds want to know. That’s what we do here.

I missed this story.

Did the mountain lion attack and kill a person whilst in the garage?

Yes? No?
It was just having a bit of a siesta in a shady garage, no harm done! A lifetime spent in mountain lion territory, much of it outside on bikes and hiking trails all over Colorado and a cat is the least of my concerns. The 2 legged humans tho...

I hear you. I just want him to be innocent. I want to come here and read a case where everyone got it wrong. Where a guy really loves his wife and didn’t hurt her.
