I still maintain that the item found on the road belonging to SM early in the case is a piece of clothing. The Sheriff referred to found object as an "item". BM, in the surreptitious video, called it an "article ". I think that was a slip of the tongue.

LE is satisfied that the item unquestionably belongs to SM, yet BM states that "they won't tell us what it is." So how can LE be so sure? If the item is that teal/baby blue bike helmet, her photo would confirm it, along with the fact that perhaps her helmet is missing.

Anyway, it makes sense that if the bike was staged, the "item" might be a biking shoe, the helmet, or some other biking apparel. An article. I'd bet my retirement savings on it.
Great post. How many times does one read about "an article of clothing."

That is good reasoning and possibly true.

I was thinking about it from a different angle.
If I remember the TD interview right he seemed to me like he really wanted to know what LE had found, so I was thinking he doesn't know what it is.

And if he doesn't know, then we are back to the only thing LE said. If they called it an "item", I have been thinking it maybe was a piece of her jewlry or her cell phone or an IPOD earpiece or something along those lines.

If occurred to me that LE making another public visit to Salida is also them invading BM's territory. That's where his new lot is located. I wonder if they took any new posters to his gym.
The new posters express a new clarity for the investigation, whereas the old ones reflected his false narrative. I think the new posters relay the message to him and the community at large that his version of events is false. I'm glad to see this. Moo of course.

Agreed. That item/article was supposed to build on the bike ride theory but unfortunately for the perp, the bike ride story was never believed by LE.
Yes and I think it’s because her friend called LE when she couldn’t get a hold of her and relayed the events of May 9 IMO So they were warned and approached the 911 call as if it were criminal in nature - the friend is the key now

BBM:

LE just fired a shot across the bow.

LE is showing the perp that he's not the only one with the ability to stage a scene.
He plants bikes.
They pass out flyers.
It's strategic.

LE is hitting his pressure points, and as a result, the person who killed SM is likely experiencing a ton of pressure, both external and internal, as a result of everything that's unfolded this past week.

LE has all but officially named him a suspect at this point.
They aren't coming right out and saying it, though, which is also brilliant strategy.
The more ambiguous their words and actions are, the more anxiety SM's killer will feel.

Anxiety is a hard emotion to just sit with…generally, anxiety produces a reaction.
Either a person talks, or a person acts.

JMO.

Very much agree!

LE needs evidence.

LE needs BM to get careless under pressure and make a mistake.

They are watching him every bit so closely.

LE does not have a body.

BM will eventually lead them to additional incriminating evidence.

They need every 1/4 nugget BM drops.

BM is arrogant.

LE will get there. MOO

Great post. How many times does one you read about "an article of clothing."
And I think it was the helmet since the bike was also found and his handwritten note included that IIRC?

You're correct that Barry Morphew could flee to another country with no extradition treaty. I'd want to know what percentage of his assets are in liquid investments/cash versus real estate, though. It would be much easier to flee & live a comfortable life if he has ready access to funds. If the bulk of his assets are in real estate, though, it becomes much more difficult to relocate.
Fortunately, other countries don't want anybody coming in from the USA because of COVID.

100% agree.

Oviedo, do you recall what was written on that note? Tia

We also know the infamous church email (reported by Crimeonline) reportedly went out very early Monday morning. Whether or not SM's friend was in the distribution, I think she caught wind of it and the 3 part scenario very early and screamed this stinks to high heaven!! If she was not receiving any response from BM, she most likely went straight to CCSO.

(Deja vu SW's friend Nicki). MOO

Or maybe she spoke to the daughters on MD and told them she’d been trying to get in touch with SM since the previous evening. The daughters told the police and that’s why they were suspicious of BM’s story so soon. JMO
I hadn't even thought of that. It's a great possibility.

That’s a great idea!

Imagine, Barry comes out of the gym after a long sesh of bicep curls and BAM LE is all up in his area.

I'm not Oviedo, but perhaps I can help. IIRC, the note read--Baby blue bike helmet, and biking clothes.

ETA: I just went back to find the note that BM left at a local business while he was looking for Suzanne. That's all he wrote. The above two descriptions.

As said earlier, tickling the wire. I would love a press conference, even if LE had nothing much to say other than reminding the public that Suzanne is still missing and they are diligently working the case.

Yep.
Wouldn't that be sad.
LE is sending a message.
Or perhaps the necklace was a birthday gift. Suzanne's birthday was April 30th. A mere few days before she went missing.

Yup. It plays right to the note and his poster and fake story.

Yes this is what I recall thank you

IMO, if any of her jewelry ended up in a pawnshop, then I believe her disappearance is from an unknown person, even a random crime. I don't believe that to be the case. In the grand-scheme of things, IMO, pawning jewelry for cash is not worth it, low level, not to mention a huge risk. Quick cash was not needed by anyone known to her. IMO

I wonder if someone tried to sell it to a jewelry store rather than a pawn shop. You'd still lose tons of money. Diamonds aren't a great investment. You're better of buying your beloved a Rolex.

I hadn't even thought of that. It's a great possibility.

BM, thinking he was so smart, was careless.
His daughters were far away from home as was BM. They could not read his body language. Their focus was only on not being unable to reach mom for xx hours and would absolutely tell LE every single detail known to them. Every person they contacted looking for SM, and what was told to them. All before BM could silence them. I can hear BM (my words) as soon as the daughters arrive home: "You know Sheriff Speeze doesn't like me -- he's gonna try to make this difficult on me. He has no use for the volunteer ff and I'll probably have to hire my own team because I can't work with that man. TN tried to talk to him and he blew him off too."
