The Denver Gazette

Law enforcement investigators told The Denver Gazette that her turquoise bike helmet was found nearby days later.

BBM

Did we know that?
It has been speculated but LE has never confirmed what was found and I don't know why they would suddenly release that information now.

The Denver Gazette

From the article: BBM

(snip)

"Over 100 people dressed in hiking shoes and prepared for a daylong effort found “a suspicious item” near Salida in their search for evidence related to a Mayfield woman’s disappearance, according to her brother."

"Andy Moorman says he can’t reveal what the item is, but he told The Denver Gazette that he has turned it over to authorities and is confident that the volunteers will have some answers by the time their five-day search is over as to what happened to Suzanne Morphew."

(snip)

"He told The Denver Gazette that he believes Suzanne was mentally abused."

She wasn’t in control of the marriage,” Moorman said."

(snipped)
wow - that sounds like they were closer than how her side was portrayed IMO. Wonder what they found?

To all the searchers out there today, but most especially our fellow WSers, thank you for your selfless efforts on Suzanne's behalf!

To all my fellow WSers here who continue to participate in this thread, thank you for keeping her forum discussion alive and thriving.

"They also serve who only stand and wait."

And so, we wait.

Justice for Suzanne.

I hope there will be more focused places on where SM actually could be based on something other than (IMO - speculation only) tips like those from a psychic. They only had 3 search teams out yesterday and each team had at least 50 and as many as 100 people, so if they want to devote some time and energy to searching other places, like a cemetery as one example, it would be good if they could deploy small teams of 5 to 7 people instead of sending 1/3 of all participants.

I don't believe it was underwater at the time. Go back to the drone flyover.
Not sure if others have already weighed in on this, but I looked at the historic water level data and it appears that the water level of the Arkansas River at Salida was nearly 10 inches higher on May 22nd than on May 9th so I agree with @PaulaDC that the beach area was likely not underwater on the 9th when it was reportedly raked. JMO - I am not a subject matter expert. Attaching the graphs. Compare Data

there was not.... it was an off-hand comment CM said on PE when Dr. Judy was the guest.... everyone ran with it and it has been repeated so many times now everyone believes it.....

Yes I knew about that, I just thought maybe an actual hunting trip had been disclosed and I'd missed it. In this instance, Chris was giving a hypothetical to ask a question about the difference between a pathological liar and a compulsive liar. It is curious though, that he used that specific hypothetical. So, if a hunting trip does turn out to actually have happened, I will certainly not be surprised. CM has a way of dropping little nuggets here and there.

Lets see if Barry shows up to search now that he has been invited.

Well it looks like he showed up alright just not in the capacity i was expecting.

  • #709
Do you think Barry is cheap, or believes that “Barry knows best”? He’s doing everything wrong. A PR person, an attorney, a good friend, would advise Barry to have minimal contact with the press, not respond to any rumors, stay inside, and maybe issue a statement thanking the people who have volunteered their time and resources to find his beloved wife.

Again like C. Watts. An interview saying all the wrong things... in his new tee-shirt.

Only B had some time to arrange things away from cameras and company GPS. At least partly.

  • #710
No one doubts he attempting to be prudent when it comes to his own presevation.
Exactly. He's never been that concerned about the safety of his wife and daughters alone in that isolated house. Not enough to put up working cameras for them, anyway.

Suzanne Morphew missing 4 months, investigation continues - Chaffee County Sheriff

SABBM:

We continue to follow leads and tips as well as develop information and have not limited our search areas to one particular location. With this we are planning another law enforcement search in the near future.
_______________________

The above is from the CCSO's press release on September 1oth.
I found it intriguing at the time because of the fact that the statement about LE planning another search came after AM had already announced his own plans to organize a large private search.

Here's a thought that's occurred to me:

If LE wanted to quietly conduct a search under the radar, right now would be the absolute perfect time to do so.

The media is focused entirely on AM and the private searches taking place.
Cybersleuthers are all glued to their tracking apps.
BM is laser focused on guarding the perimeter of Fort Puma.

Nobody is paying much, if any, attention to what LE is doing.

The CCSO announced that they were planning another law enforcement search "in the near future."

I wonder if the future is now.

JMO.
Oh, just love that thought GK!! I so hope that’s the case. Wouldn’t that just be the “bobcat’s” meow. :)

Jeez, I must have forgotten - never seen this quote attributed to The Denver Gazette (expect some will ask them?) so much on this case as within this link it says (does anyone have an easy link to bump for this???)

In Monday night's Choir Practice, CM brought up the elk hunting again, this time not as a hypothetical.

Also of note, LS reported that she was unable to interview GD. Because he was elk hunting.

So there's that.

Pretty sure Suzanne would give her own brother and or LE permission to search her home in the event she ever went missing.

Agree. Her rights are being trampled.

I SO agree! No matter what else ends up being involved, IMO the #1 reason Suzanne was killed will be $$$

‘I’m afraid this is domestic abuse’; Suzanne Morhpew’s brother says husband not participating in search, carrying shotgun to keep people off property | FOX31 Denver

On Friday, Moorman spoke with FOX31 and Channel 2 about how the search is going.

Moorman said that the search team found evidence near the Morphew residence on Thursday but could not be more specific about what it was. He said that the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and sheriff’s office are processing the evidence.

“We had to process some evidence yesterday that we found up on the top of the mountain. I’d hate to speak too much about it. I can just tell you, it was close to the Morphew residence and we’re not sure of the importance of it, but we did get the CBI on it and they are processing that scene as we speak,” shared Moorman.

FOX31 and Channel 2 asked Moorman if Barry Morphew, Suzanne’s husband is involved in the search.

“Yesterday we ran into him as we cross that mountain top of where we found the evidence and he was out hanging trail cams and he had a shotgun on his shoulder and warned us not to go any further because we were about to enter private property. And to answer your question, no, he’s not involved in the search.” shared Moorman.

“I’m afraid this is domestic abuse,” shared Moorman.

Moorman said he learned while searching for Suzanne that she was “working with domestic abuse meetings”.

Moorman also said he believes police are trying to “fill their envelope before they seal it.”

But, why would he bring this up into a tense conversation. Does he know it to be true? Did he relay information without stating it?
That's exactly what I thought he had done.
