On one hand, I see where you're coming from because -- if Barry did have help -- I'm not sure that those involved would've remained silent during all this time. As Poor Richards Almanac said, "Three can keep a secret if 2 of them are dead."

But what're the odds that Barry -- who didn't grow up in Chaffee County, has only lived there about 2 years, & did a poor job with everything else -- is able to conceal a body so adeptly without any help whatsoever such that CCSO, CBI, working dogs cannot find it?

You bring up an excellent point. I am not familiar at all with the vegetation out there, but it does appear that in the higher elevations, the growth would be slower, and any disturbance would take longer to heal, plants regrowing stand out as new different types. We need an expert botanist. Here in SC we have kudzu, I think it can grow a foot a day?
I researched clandestine graves several years ago. Things that come back to me;
most murderers are lazy. They underestimate the effort it takes to dig a deep grave. These graves are usually close to roads, as carrying a body requires strength. They usually are near some sort of a landmark, fence, rock, or tree. For no reason at all, they do seem to be near water. Even years later, some of Ted Bundys burial sites were visible to experienced searchers, IIRC.

I keep coming back to this, if LE really suspects BM, they have his movements down, they have searched intensively any of the areas associated with BM, in the areas he is known to have been in during his available time. BM just isn’t a rocket scientist, IMO. ITA

I am puzzled why LE seems to be going along with the ongoing search? Do they have another suspect, one more familiar with the local area. It’s possible that person could be one of the searchers, I guess.

Are all these searches within that area BM could have possibly traveled to?
Or was she taken out of CO completely? Could that be what BM believes has happened? Perhaps, he and AM have different theories, and that’s why BM thinks these searches aren’t productive.

IF, big IF BM and crew have searched these areas, that is a factor also, moo.

I have not been able to follow along today... Anything in particular you guys want me to check out?

Look for Tater! ;)

Maybe everyone is just too tired from the last 2 days of searching, and were told to go home and get some rest. Hiking thru all the rugged mountain area, I'd be pooped.

That’s brutal.

Here’s a question:

How does SM not make close friends for the 2 years she lives there and is supposedly extremely personable and like able? Yet, BM apparently has people willing to plant themselves within the search group to find intel for him?

And how are there 544 searchers, 2/3 of them local, yet most aren’t there for the vigil? I understand being tired from 2 days of searching and another day tomorrow, so I don’t mean to point fingers.

But my question is:

Are these searchers emotionally attached to SM or do they want this murder solved because they know it will help LE with issues happening in the community that effect them?

The shade BM has being thrown at him....just wow: the Sheriff at the vigil: the husband: MIA....yep...

AM has been saying quite specific things - I don't doubt he's got the A-OK from LE to do so...he'd never jeopardize the investigation otherwise...

And yes - Suzanne Morphew - bright light, let her shine

& please don't forget her daughters: SM would hate for them to have to go through this, two bright stars in their own right. I cannot imagine the conflicted feelings & grief they are suffering through :(
So BM was NOT at the vigil ??
Were Suzanne's daughters there ???

BBM:

We don't know that to be true, and I suspect it isn't.

There's no reason to believe that BM's employees and/or buddies in Colorado even met SM, much less that they were close to her.

JMO.
Which brings us to some interesting questions: What did Suzanne think about all of BM’s acquaintances/employees friends (younger crowd)? Was she comfortable with him having these people in their life? Around their daughters? I wonder if it was often a point of contention in their marriage?

I agree, You make a valid point, but you missed the bigger point I was trying to make; we have no reason to suggest BMs friends would involve themselves in covering up SMs murder, IMO we shouldn’t imply that they would.

I am just so deeply sad for her tonight... Maybe its just being here so close to where she lived... And Andy being the only one that spoke tonight... More people surely loved/cared for her. Where were they tonight? Maybe too tired from the search?
I've never volunteered for a search, but I can only imagine the locals there doing it for the first time might indeed be overcome with some pretty gut wrenching emotion after spending the day searching for a (likely) deceased woman, or items relating to the case. That's huge. And my hat is off to all of you, stepping up. ♥

Wow... this breaks my heart over and over and to hear it wasn’t well attended by close CO friends? Maybe the media scared them? Maybe she was alone towards the end...

The PE guy, Tyler, said at the beginning of the video that they limited the number of people who could attend the vigil to like around 117 or something like that, I think b/c of covid restrictions.

*Edited to stipulate that I think the number was limited d/t covid restrictions, but I'm not entirely sure that's correct. We'll need to listen to that PE video again to confirm.

Plus some may not be used to the elevation.

We’re talking in generalities here, and not referencing specific people.

People do in fact help others either commit crimes, or get away with them. It is a completely logical theory, and one with plenty of precedent.

Whether due to loyalty, fear, or the promise of money, this sort of thing happens.

how are you searchers feeling? it has to be very hard. I assume some or many went to the vigil, but you must all be exhausted. I hope you are all well.

Hi, i just got here today so haven't searched yet. I plan to help with the search tomorrow. I expected more people at vigil, so maybe the searchers are all exhausted.

Thanks for this GordianKnot. Weird because in most search pics almost no one is wearing masks.

BBM:

Actually, that's also untrue.

We have a report by MG that two men connected to BM approached her after SM's disappearance and talked to her about not wanting to give the appearance of paying her "hush-hush money," and that they also told her she didn't have to hand her phone over to LE.

It sounds to me like we have every reason to question whether or not BM's friends have been covering for him.

It was sad... not sure if i am just tired and emotional tonight, but felt profoundly sad when I left vigil and still do. 2 prayers and inbetween the two Andy spoke. I didn't see BM or daughters, but i could have missed. I do feel she was isolated here... No best friend or friend went to speak on stage. No daughter... nothing... i am sad guys...

Speaking of not being used to the elevation, here is my mother hen reminder to please stay hydrated, especially if you are not used to the elevation. Also, please watch your footing carefully. We don’t want any twisted ankles or worse (knock on wood) :) Good luck everyone. We know of many prior cases where volunteer searchers were very successful.
