Nah. A bike wouldn’t cause any damage to a truck like BM has.

It would take significant weight and tow angles to cause damage to the back of BM’s (old) truck. Or running into something.

My money is on towing the bobcat/trailer into terrain that is too steep.
Or backing up to hitch it up. It happens. Just ask my husband. He backed up MY car to block in the boat trailer and punched out my tail light. Perfect hit. I was thankful the tail light was all he damaged. Our driveway is on an angle and he wasn’t wearing his glasses

On tonight’s PE Live I felt like Chris was saying #5 was Barry’s Behavior (#5 of the Five Forms of Evidence PE video) but still not sure how Bruce Lee fits? As in first of all they know it’s BM and secondly his behavior can actually be used as evidence in combination with the other 4 forms of evidence: (1) Physical evidence; (2) Circumstantial evidence; (3) Eyewitness accounts; (4) Confessions; and (5) Behavioral evidence. In the PE video from 6/26/20 titled How Important is Eyewitness Testimony? Breaking Down the Five Forms of Evidence, Mike King said presenting cases that are supported by multiple forms of evidence is always the preferred method. The strongest cases have two or more forms of evidence. Mike goes on to discuss each form of evidence. It’s worth watching or rewatching this video especially for the explanation at the end of the video re how behavioral evidence is broken down into categories including normal and abnormal behavior and why it can be very important.

I’m not saying you’re wrong at all BUT if this was what the “5” refers to, why are they being so mysterious about it?

It seems like a great reference that would just be a talking point similar to the way they talk about Victimology or the tracking technology. I don’t see why they would be dragging it out and not disclosing this is what the “5” means when it’s more of an informative reference than anything that might compromise the case if revealed too soon.

I agree, tonight was different.
I didn't get to listen to all of it live, but the first bit of it I did listen to felt uncomfortable and awkward.
I could swear at one point, MK called AM "Barry".
Something just feels off.

I need to listen again I think.

There was a definite somber feeling to tonight's episode, aside from the subject at hand. Even with Mike and Chris.

Re: Tree Invoices

MOO, but I wonder if it’s not the trees that are on the invoice but rather a bunch of random supplies that would not be typically included in a tree installation that gives off such a weird vibe?

Like, I’ll take:

3 Japanese maples
10 gallons of liquid chlorine
1 shovel

Is there no MSM reports if the search today? You all are so good about posting links so that I and others can keep the media threads updated - so Nothing from today ? I haven’t searched myself yet but this is unusual Imo

Agree, Mike was subdued, I’m 20 mins in, taking a break, but ITA, something has changed. I guess we will see as the search goes on (or not)...
If damaged truck were BMs wouldn’t that have already come up?
Has the search lured the perp into the searches? Perfect time to insert oneself, MHO
YES, PE were not their jovial selves tonite!
Drat, should have just edited, oh whell! Could a truck have been spotted, damaged in such a way it could have tossed a cyclist? This one is too far out there, even for me, scroll and roll, only someone who is so remorseful, they want to get caught would risk this...obviously JMO

Nope, the perp didn’t participate in any searches.

I agree, I think they've all been working so hard on this for weeks. Its been non-stop and their probably out there running on pure adrenaline. I think the reality and the emotion of its finally taking hold as things wind down. It broke my heart to see how much pain AM was in. It was just all over his face. To be honest hearing him describe his sister and what a great, loving person she was made me shed a few tears. Normally cases dont get me like this, but man I want AM to find answers.

No doubt. A trailer hitch does a lot of damage which is what caused my theory.

Unfortunately the wildfires have kicked up with the cold front coming in bringing snow to the mountains - and the news headlines have changed. Now the 3rd largest wildfire in Colorado history after we just saw the 1st largest in history a few weeks ago.

BM in a MisPers Search? Or SAR Team Member?
Thinking on Margarita's post and the BM being a firefighter -I wonder if he was ever involved in a missing persons search as a volunteer before?
@charminglane
Briefly: possibly, but not necessarily. Would depend on kind of MisPers search the team was conducting, and whether BM had taken training required for that kind of search. Chaffee Co SAR* Training & Certifications include
NIMS, First Aid/CPR/AED Helicopter Lift Ticket, ATV/OHV, Avalanche Rescue, Low Angle Ropes, Snowmobile and Swift Water Rescue.
Maybe others here could offer opinion about whether a non-cert'd person could 'ride along' on a MisPers case.
_______________________________________
:DNot so briefly;):
It seems there is no automatic membership 'overlap' between a county's SAR team and that county's volunteer firefighter team.* IIUC a person who wishes to be a VolFF takes certain training to be certified for that; a person who wants to be on SAR team takes different training for SAR. Maybe some overlap on parts of curriculum?
In my area (not CO) the organization is [City Name] Fire & Rescue, w some volunteers
holding official certifications to serve as both.

“County sheriffs are mandated by Colorado state statute to provide search and rescue teams within their respective jurisdictions. Chaffee County’s search and rescue teams, one in each end of the county....Each team consists of about fifty members, all of whom are unpaid volunteers that provide most of their own equipment.
^ https://www.chaffeesarsouth.org/join-our-team and Search and Rescue - Chaffee County Sheriff
"... Most day-to-day SAR missions in the US are run by the County Sheriffs,[154] ... They in turn, can request help from state and national resources, if they think they need them. A typical Sheriff's Office has a volunteer SAR team that matches the terrain and population of that county. SAR members are typically trained in the Incident Command System (ICS),[155] first aid, and the outdoor skills needed in that terrain and climate..."

wasn't there a poster who had side by side pics of the morphew property, before and after mother's day, who had details of changes in the landscaping?

wondering if there are any new trees planted at the home.

  • #636
oh no. "tree invoices" just reminded me of our wood chipper discussions. it is interesting that the word "tree" came in to the conversation at all, since there was a missing tree in the photo of barry lying on the ground.

jmo.

Maybe the 'tree invoices' are for planting larger trees, usually around 12 years old, that require specific equipment called a tree spade. There are different sizes but the Bobcat can have a tree spade attachment. They can dig a fairly deep hole to allow a root ball easy access.

Or, possibly at the place where BM was doing his famous spread-eagled act on the ground?

Earlier, we were discussing what seemed to be differences between two photographs. I think it was @MassGuy who indicated two new trees had popped up in one of the photographs.

I strongly suspect something tied to SM's disappearance is at this place.

JMVHO.

Or trying to setup a bicycle accident by backing up to it and running over it?
Or a certain truck that may have been spotted hauling a bobcat....

  • #639
The somber mood on PE tonight could be related to the cadaver dog hits at the undisclosed location. The reality of SM’s murder might be impacting all of them right now. Let’s say remains were found. They need to be tested. But maybe clothing (or jewelry) was also present and, thus, a preliminary ID could be made. As much as I’ll be happy to have her remains found, it will also be a very, very sad moment. Kind of like how I felt when Tylee and JJ were found. I had always believed they were dead but I still felt gut-punched when their remains were found.

<modsnip: quoted post was removed>

I kinda liked the female friend, who described her as such a gentle soul, who had such a sparkle... ok
I can’t quite remember the exact quote, this description was 30 threads ago, and echoed by another friend...I prefer those memories, there are lots of beautiful women...
She was that, but so much more.
