I was hoping that the situation here would change overnight.

Does anyone know if her brother is searching today or is he headed home?

Last night on PE they said that Andy said he was not leaving right now. Not sure how long he would stay...

I want another flyover of the morphew house since the first search. There are a lot of rocks as landscape decor. I want to see if any are missing.

Did john spezze's daughter and SM's daughter play sport together? I'm sure I remember seeing something from an earlier thread about this, it's probably not really relevant, except I guess it shows a connection between the families.

I’m baffled by this whole thing, and I really cannot even guess anyone’s motives here. But whatever LE is trying to accomplish, I think they’re grossly underestimating people’s interest. People are watching. The optics of Andy standing over a little tree all night, guarding the possible remains of his murdered sister because no one else will looks BAD.

I sure do admire his tenacity. It has to be heartbreaking....

The damage is done, and a narrative has formed that’s going to spread all over social media.

It’s already happening, and I get the impression that we’ll see some sort of an apology at some point.

I think he thought they were close, and he let his frustration get the better of him.

I don't think it is in his DNA to apologize.

We’re working to get more clarity on the #SuzanneMorphew situation. It does appear that as of last night, @ChaffeeSheriff had not processed the scene(s) where cadaver dogs had reportedly picked up a scent. We are waiting to hear if they plan to

And a note about @ChaffeeSheriff statement: it does not deny that cadaver dogs picked up a scent, just that no remains had been discovered in connection w/Morphew investigation. But: they likely would not have been able to positively ID anything in that short time.

Also: we’d love to hear from volunteer searchers who are in the area. DM or [email protected] #SuzanneMorphew

I haven't been following as closely as others in here, but I am not sure I believe that anything substantial has been found or whether they are just trying to scare BM. Also this could be a very hard case to prosecute with and without a body.
MOO. Beleve that AM has given up on that, just wants Suzanne.

BBM - Possibly remains were indeed found, but they are not SM's? Skeletal remains that are from a larger framed person?

Boy, would that open another can of worms for LE..

I see no signs of that. I think he’s “got friends in low places.”

It didn’t stop the Sheriff from bringing in the CBI and FBI very quickly.

They created a task force that has made it clear through their actions, that he is the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance (multiple search warrants).

He has lamented his life being ruined, and becoming the focus of a national story that has not painted him in a good light.

He has accused law enforcement of screwing up the investigation, and basically claimed they are out to get him.

I think he’s right about that. They are, and they will.
Something changed.

IMO - All handlers I know of working dogs (HRD, SAR-live find) work at the request of LE ONLY, period. There’s a reason LE trusts them and has a working relationship with them.
Those that have been around long enough in the working dog community remember the case of dog handler Sandra Anderson and how this caused LE everywhere to really take a look at their resources. This case was such a shame for the working dog community. An Eagle-Eyed Investigation?

IMO Not all handlers and dogs are created equal. They’re just not. Some handlers who do not have a relationship with LE will reach out to family members of this missing and say “hey, I’m here to help but the Sheriff won’t let me’. Family in return get’s very upset because they don’t understand. They don’t understand why they can’t SEE any action. These folks show up on the sidelines of search areas sometimes and you can spot them a mile away – large flashy decals on their vehicles, as an example. They also overstate their dogs abilities. They may work alone or on an unproven team that get’s together here and there, and does the bare minimum to keep certs active. Sometimes they don’t even have them. Sometimes they desperately want to be part of the action. Now, before anyone jumps on my comments here – I am not saying that’s the case here. We don’t know, regardless of what some hosts say. Also, many handlers will not speak to the media.

The only example I can think of and it’s my opinion. Volunteer search for a presumed murder victim - dog indicated on disturbed dirt. LE comes out and actually started to dig, nothing. Then the dog indicated on another area before LE will dig, they call in their trusted handler who request NOT to know any areas of interest and wants to come in blind and work his dog and requests everyone stay on the sidelines (no way would he allow a non team member or non LE follow him around with his dog while they are working). His dog does not alert, at all. The detective tells him now the other handler is now saying that it must have been a false alert because of buried vegetation that was given off methane gas. Detective wants to know what he thinks of that – handler says no clue, I can only speak for my own dog. Don’t know that dog, don’t know that handler.

The situation that is playing out right now is sad and one that I was afraid of. I never believed LE was going to give any investigation areas of interest for AM to search. I anticipated tension would happen. I don’t at all believe there’s any be-hind-the-scenes collaboration between AM, LE and the PE guys. We are not watching a performance that will hopefully catch the bad guy off guard. I don’t believe there’s any sort of coverup, the mountains don’t hold secrets, there’s no puppet master people are afraid of or powerful people that are preventing local LE, CBI and the FBI from doing their jobs. IMO

I feel so bad for AM right now. I cannot stress that enough.
This makes more sense to me than anything I have read in the last 12 hours. Four months a stress, tension, heartache and mistrust has led to major misjudgments. Not that CCSO is perfect, but they are not acting to frame Barry nor are they complicit in a cover up.

ETA; the optics look terrible for local LE, they need to regroup on their own press.

Suzanne Morphew: No new evidence - Chaffee County Sheriff
Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office
September 28, 2020

Contrary to some media reports, there have been no remains found in the Suzanne Morphew case. There have been a handful of potential leads that have been pursued as a result of the volunteer search; however, nothing has been identified as related to Suzanne’s disappearance. Investigators will not comment on specific leads being investigated or other information connected with this case.

Sheriff John Spezze
this was my post to the media thread yesterday - his name was at the bottom of this entry
Looks like his name has not been on the last 3 press releases (all related to the search) unlike previous ones.
