I will be updating the Case Archive soon.
VENT!
I am so far beyond frustrated now that I am livid. Over 12 years I have been adding cases to my photobucket and now there are 194 albums. Over 88,000 files and getting on to 10 million views projected for late 2020. So, what's my problem? After spending another $140+ for additional storage last week and fighting with them for 10 days... NONE of my pictures and videos have titles. NONE of my albums shows the # of files saved in them (from 65 to 980). NO more view count. NO more good reason to do what I do. In addition to that it is ugly and not viewer friendly, cannot be organized and there is no "Latest additions" page and also I have no idea if there are followers (there used to be 178), and I am about to cry!!! SFSFSFSF!!!!
Oh no! I’m so sorry! I wish I knew a way to help. Hugs!!!

I understood from various posts that CBI have a very good reputation after a number of high profile cases. I’ve seen no first hand reason to doubt the integrity of CCSO but if they are dodgy wouldn’t CBI & FBI step in on that as they are also involved in the investigation?
I am in Europe so apologise if I don’t understand how it works.

Quite honestly, I am tired of the discussions about LE, LS, PE and whomever else is secondary here, but I will say this: Distrust of LE isn't unfounded. LE officers are human. Elected sheriffs (some of them) don't even have prior LE experience. (Not saying that is the case here. I really don't know). Are you honestly all so convinced that LE absolutely does the right thing in ALL cases? Because I'm not. Do you really believe that fellow human beings, despite their titles or jobs, don't make mistakes? Because I'm sure they do. LE: I don't trust 'em. At all. Especially given recent news.

Now where is AM today and, most importantly, where is SM?

Rather than tarring all of LE with a single, pre-stained brush, how 'bout if we stick to the specifics of this case?

And in this case, this Sheriff DOES have prior LE experience.
Loads of it, including 27 years in a major metropolitan police force (Denver):
About Sheriff John Spezze - Chaffee County Sheriff

Also, last time I checked, WS is a LE-friendly site.

I'll trust LE over a SM channel any day of the week.

I think you're right, maybe Puma Path? No hill like that at the job site?

That tree is not at the beach site or his new property, I think it's at the Puma Path property, JMO.

Cannot tell whether or not it's on BM's lot, but the saplings with the pile of rocks is definitely in the Longhorn Ranch vicinity.

The property is flat, hills are off to the northeast across the river. But a good quality zoom lens foreshortens the scene dramatically.

Photos are too many kb to post, but I went to Google Maps and dropped a pin on rd 160 near the development. Then I went to street view at that pin, and turned until I could see the hills.

They match the hills in the sapling photo.

Maybe someone who can reduce photo resolution can do this and show what I mean.

I'm with you. Now we have a time line, which one.
#5.
I'll take the pink bike.
BM said AM was doing this for a publicity stunt, he named the wrong ring leader.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Maybe photobucket can help you recover them?

Did CCSO at least secure the area?
I'm not sure they were even there. All we heard is that the FBI and CBI told AM they were taking over the scene, according to the PE guys. They said they told Andy, "We got this." They reported that five FBI vehicles arrived and at least one was waiting or guarding the two locations. The PE guys said they thought they might get a warrant but as far as we know that hasn't happened yet. At some point maybe they made the decision that there was not a solid indication of human remains.

They did say that they were looking into leads, but we don't know what they are.

Hypothetical

I was thinking about the media (like the DM) getting their stories, and it occurred to me that if you have someone, like a relative of a victim at a search, say things similar to, "that's a cadaver dog, and he just hit twice and there could be human remains down there," and a reporter is standing right there embedded to get the stories, chances are said reporter is going to take that huge nugget of information and run with it.

IF that's a problem for a sheriff I can understand a sheriff not being happy about those kinds of statements to a reporter, maybe done in all innocence, but still done, leading to various complications of trying to quietly and out of the media process a scene.

Unless a sheriff wants that kind of info being shared and is happy it is being put out to the world, then I guess no problem.

I agree that its at least in the longhorn ranch area, the hills are peppered with the exact same type of trees. Maybe not his exact plot, but close enough that Andy had a mind to check it out with the dogs.

don't tell me that Andy spent his evening at a pine tree on BM's puma path property, no way, no how. Plus they already went through with dogs and were satisfied there was nothing at Puma Pass.

we're completely in the dark here, which is fine. Because that means Barry is too.

Is it possible, while we're all concentrating on this tree on that lot BM bought, that LE located what they believe to be Suzanne's remains elsewhere, while AM's search was going on, and all the attention is on that?

Like maybe they were doing some of their own searching using that Vislaw (?) information?

The towel, the blanket and the tarp?

I'm intrigued by these items, were these items found in a previous search area or in a new search area? How did they look i.e. dirty/sodden as if lying there for 4 months or pretty new/fresh? Was there visible evidence of harm on them such as blood evidence, were they located near to the Morphew home?

Well, they did say they were planning another search, so it's possible. We still don't know anything about the other areas they searched, besides the ones reported on by the media.

BBM:

What optics?
Are there pictures of AM at the site last night guarding a little tree?
Do people believe this narrative of a grossly negligent LE not following up on cadaver dog hits simply because a YT channel says it's so?

Does no one else but me find it odd that no attempt was made by the PE guys to reach AM last night from his purported location, especially given the fact that they've spoken with him every other night of the search, regardless of his location?

I never believed the bike narrative.

I don't believe this narrative, either.
At. All.

Question: Who did the PE guys sound like last night?
Who else has accused LE of screwing everything up?

Rhetorical questions.

LE would not drop the ball on this.
The CBI would not drop the ball.
The FBI would not drop the ball.

We're missing something.

JMO.

The cell service is so spotty that if they could have gotten ahold of him I’m sure they would have IMO.

That would be great if so.

Im trying to stay focused on positives and another positive of AM's efforts is we are gaining valuable new information.

For instance, I think we can now eliminate BM's home property where the home is at. Once he realized how bad the shotgun wielding went, he then allowed searchers onto his property. That gives us a hint that SM's remains are probably not near the home.

Good questions!

Did the towel and/or blanket match any found in the home?

Could the tarp be linked through manufacturing markers to others found in the home or the place that BM stores his equipment?

If AM spent the night guarding a small tree, I feel there would be photos of it, many of them. I'm not at all suggesting that AM wouldn't be willing to do that, but it sounds like he was given reassurance that bigger guns were on the way. At least I hope that's what's happening.

DM photographers have all of those nifty high powered zoom lenses. That would be a very emotional photo.

Regardless of the reasons, I think it’s fair to say that the tone of the CCSO press releases have changed over that past 15 days.

Sept. 10:
Our crime scene team will be available to document and collect any evidence if found. We will have both Chaffee County and CBI case Agents on hand in this endeavor as well.
Sept. 28:
There have been a handful of potential leads that have been pursued as a result of the volunteer search; however, nothing has been identified as related to Suzanne’s disappearance. Investigators will not comment on specific leads being investigated or other information connected with this case.
Notice the change from “we” + active voice to the third person + passive voice. This is a different author from that of the previous releases. The most recent release also better patterns the language we’ve seen from CBI and FBI comments; there is no need for a “we” from these agencies, because they are not focused on community relations of a specific locality.

It could also be writing reflective of the CCSO legal team or Chaffee Co. prosecutor’s office.

But take my musings with a grain of salt, as I’m just a humble historian who normally deals with the scribblings of the long since departed.

The PE guys DID talk to Andy. Chris did right before they went on air.

Do you really think Mike and Chris are going to destroy THEIR reputations for One night on YouTube? I don’t.
