A neighbour, recently separated, (she initiated the separation due to finances as he continually did not work) kept stating she was not abused, physically or mentally.
I doubted this, as the creep was very controlling.

With time, constantly speaking to her, (perhaps she finally trusted me), has stated her creep did both.
So possibly, not many around her know this, and I will not report this fact to others.
She needs to open up, and vent.
She states she doesn't want her children to know this, as he is their father, whom they dearly love.

Similarly with SM, whom has she confided in?
?? the last texting pal.

I hope Suzanne did confide in someone and it will eventually come out.
As for your neighbor, I find that both sad and unfortunate. Her children should know the truth, if they don't already.
Hiding ugly family 'secrets' only perpetuates behavior in children - whether that be repeating such abuse or accepting it.

He didn't need to share with the world, Suzanne's feelings for him, imo. I personally want to see how he truly feels about her and I'm not the only one.

Because, when we bash BM, we actually diminish SM, that’s a problem for me.
I choose to view them as evidence of her goodness.

I wasn't bashing him, do I think he is guilty? Yes, do I want to think he is guilty - No - not in the slightest.
I don't believe how people view BM diminishes Suzanne at all, all these people here and many others around the world see Suzanne for who she was/is - kind to others, selfless, beautiful inside and out. That has nothing to do with her letters to BM, we all saw how good Suzanne was/is when all her friends and family (apart from BM) testified to that when talking about her - long before these notes were produced.

Yesterday, we saw an arrest here in the UK for the brutal murder of a lovely doctor and her 14 year old daughter, and the arrest of 13 (it may be more by now) in the crazy yet credible plot to kidnap the governor, Gretchen "Big Gretch" Whitmer, of my home state of Michigan. Can we make it a hat trick today with an arrest in this case?

Well, first post here. I’ve followed this case from the beginning and Suzanne’s case is what led me to Websleuths. I feel like I know some of you by now
Anyhow, perhaps BM was friending only male friends on FB because he wanted it to appear that SM had gone back to Indiana to meet someone. Who? Doesn’t matter. If LE wastes time chasing that, it buys time for BM. Maybe someone also arranged that FB checkin on SM’s page in Alexandria, IN on May 17th. Just one more in a line of tales to draw attention away from the truth of her disappearance. Who knows how many anonymous “tips” LE has had to field that were meant to distract and waste time.

I hope I quoted this properly. It’s all IMO. I almost gave up on the case after the craziness of the search by AM, our awesome fellow WSers and others. But I’d like to see it through to some closure. SM reminds me of my own Mom. I think I would have liked to meet her.

Theory, MOO, of how Saturday/Sunday may have gone down. It is a far fetched theory but I put it together trying to use the info we have as of now.

Presuppositions:

1. MG has a crush on BM which he has been nurturing because it strokes his ego. She will do almost anything for him.
2. SM is upset at BM. It is MD weekend, her daughters are away, and BM has worked Friday night, Saturday, and will be working on Sunday.

Saturday morning BM picks up MG for work at the Salida site. He’s left SM home, angry at him.

He gets a hold of JP and asks if he can work on Sunday.

To get SM off his back BM decides to go home and play nice with her for a couple of hours. Meanwhile, she is at home texting her bff about the upcoming wedding and telling her how ticked off she is at BM.

BM goes home, tries to placate her, takes her to lunch in town. When they get home BM figures he deserves a little hanky panky for his trouble. Instead, SM get right back on the phone/FB with her bestie. He is enraged, maybe slaps the phone out of her hand, she pushes back. He gives her a shove and she falls hitting her head against the stone fireplace.

He is now in panic cover up mode.

He begins cleaning up.

Maybe he drags the body out to the garage (or to the spot where the antlers with the skin attached were later observed leaning against the house). He may have put the body in a cooler or coolers using some of his tools to dismember her.

He realizes SM was in the middle of a convo when he slapped the phone out of her hands. Her phone is broken. He impersonates SM on her FB using his phone and tries to close out the conversation. It sounds strange to SM’s bff. He also sends out some friend requests so it will seem like SM is still alive and well.

He needs to get rid of the body.

Maybe he does something using his bobcat.

He then brings the bobcat to the Salida site around 11:30 pm and swaps out his bucket or other attachment with the one in Salida so if LE checks his, there will be no evidence on it.

He goes home to Puma Path to finish cleaning up.

He needs to be out of town the following day when SM is reported missing. He stays up most of the night planning out his strategy. He decides to use MG as an integral part of his alibi. He drives to her house at 4:00 am but then thinks better of it and texts her instead to arrange for the work crew in Broomfield.

He then drives to Broomfield himself possibly discarding evidence along the way.

He is supposed to bring the bobcat with him to complete the job but can’t because of the swapped attachment.

He checks into the HIE, cleans his tools, and collapses for a few hours on the bed.

Later in the day he puts the bike story in motion.

He leaves Broomfield before the work crew shows up.

I am speculating too...

Your telling of it is what I think happened too, particularly the way in which she actually died. I don’t really have a view whether SM had found out something (an affair, money transgressions, crimes etc) or whether it was an everyday argument that got out of control.

I do wonder if roid rage played some part in it, or at least in the sheer force of it.

I think Suzanne did still love him. She seems to me to have been a very selfless person and I can see her wanting nothing more than to make other people happy, especially her husband and children, and deriving great pleasure from doing that well. What a sweet soul.

Maybe he loved her too, in whatever way passes as love in BM’s egocentric world view. The only way I can think to put it is that I think he loved her way of loving him and of putting him before her. I think the act of showing off her love letters is testament to that.

Her family’s concerns about the marriage may be because they felt she deserved more and better than to be living her life for somebody else’s happiness. BM has interpreted that, in his latest interview, as her family did not love her - and I think he told her that too. He perhaps said something along the lines of them not supporting her choices and therefore not loving her. It seems likely to me that rather than SM asking BM why her family don’t love her, it was BM who told her they don’t love her and she asked why. Sounds like classic gaslighting to me.

I get distracted by moving timelines, bobcats, tools, bleach, snippets of interviews etc but at the core of it I always think he hit her (may be first time, may not) too hard and then did a cover-up, fortunately messing up a lot of it but unfortunately having the skills, tools and knowledge to dispose of her thoroughly.

I think he may have had help in the cover-up. I like to think it was unwitting help. If so those people will be less likely to stay quiet as they realise what has happened or as the passage of time alters their feelings etc.

I’m very confident LE know what happened and will be able to prove it albeit not as quickly as we’d like.

Is it possible BM returned to town after killing SM (to fetch cleaning materials??) and that is when he saw JP? MG did say she heard BM was in town all afternoon, so he could have visited more than once.

Many hotels in the West, including some in Colorado, have signs asking patrons to leave towels on the floor if they wish to have fresh towels.

Nearly all hotels and motels in California have the same request. Also, Vegas, many places in Arizona and in New Mexico. Oh, and Utah.

I've even seen them in Portland.

Water is a big issue out here. It's normal to leave the towels on the floor if you're trying to signal the maid that you want more. Hang them up if you intend to reuse, to save water. And we thank you very much if you can reuse a towel out here, as we have frequent issues with water and there are often tiered taxes on water as usage increases.

Here in my country and in France also (at least some places) it happened, that no cleaning service was done between arrival and departure BECAUSE of Covid. You wouldn't expect! You even have to go after WC-paper and towels and find someone, who is ready to give you some of the necessary utensils.
Btw, I thought, someone (BM) left the wet towels on the floor, also in the living room, not in the bathroom (which would have been according to hotel information).

In my experience, this is straight from the controlling partner playbook:
First, isolate your partner physically and emotionally from their family
Then, gaslight them into thinking that their family doesn’t love them, only you do and they must rely on you for love
Finally, convince them that they are essentially unlovable and must work harder for your love

Every day I am so thankful that my partner is not like this

If someone called/texted me at 4am and I wasn't due to be on the job until at least 6 or 7am I'd be annoyed.
Not to mention if a person has any young children who do you get at that hour and on the spur of the moment to babysit ?
It makes no sense that BM would just pull up to the building, text or call her, and then drive away.
What actually happened, MG ?

No matter how loyal one may be to family or an employer-- very few want to be involved in covering up someone else's dark deeds.

I wonder about the early morning departure anyway. Wasn't it BM, who told at first, he would have had to go to "Denver" (Broomfield) for preparing the job for his workers, who would arrive in the evening of MD? all the way ...

What to Do When Your Towel Smells Like Chlorine
You'll need a large bottle of vinegar to get the pool smell out of your towels. To begin, fill a sink with a mixture that's half water, half vinegar. Submerge the towel in the sink for at least an hour.

I am a little stuck on JP and that weekend. JP said he spoke to Barry on Saturday about the Broomfield job. MG said she was asked on Sunday to assemble a crew. Did MG choose JP, or did Barry let her know that he had spoken to JP and he would be part of the job? I think there’s a lot of conversation in there that we are unaware of, and may be a puzzle piece that LE is not divulging.

I saw the ones for 2018 and before. Are there ones more recent? The house could have been moved as a foundation asset this year, too early to show up on tax returns.

I’m still calling it laundering. It was Suzanne’s money and Barry (allegedly) did some shady, manipulative **** including outright murder to steal it from her. That’s laundering to me.

I went through the 990s for about 5-6 years. The Foundation had a few thousand dollars in it, never more than that. Not much asset movement in or out of the Foundation, either.
