Anyone else surprised at the (IMO) very lenient sentence?

I am. I suppose they're taking into consideration the 90+ days he's been in jail. It's a pattern with this guy, commit a crime, some involve bodily injury (KN), some threaten it (hatchet), felon with a weapon, exposing himself repeatedly, etc, etc. Serves a little time in a local jail and he's out. Rinse. Repeat.

I also don't understand what is meant by he gets a "2 year suspended prison sentence if he violates conditions". Shouldn't that be he'll go to prison if he violates conditions?

BBM

I'm assuming it means if he violates he has to serve 2 years. IANAL, but that's the only thing that makes sense to me.

So, now will Indiana extradite DN on the IN charges? (after Clear Creek)

Weeping, Nations asks for probation, saying he wants to reunite with his “babies” — 2 kids, ages 4 and 8 months. They’re in foster care.

Nations says he has PTSD and anxiety that cause “irrational decisions.”

Yes IMO that should happen hopefully but I don't know. This guy is as slippery as an eel it seems.

If a person is on supervised probation in one state and they move to another state, how does that play out? Is the probation transferred? And the criminal is assigned a new supervising officer? Then does that officer report to the state the probation originated in?

Depends on whether the IN warrants are extraditable, I suppose.

Hmmm. He should not be allowed near his wife and kids on any account. I think he could be a danger to them and himself and lose it again. He clearly needs some help and may get that in prison.

Can Probation be transferred to another state? Yes. Colorado participates in the Interstate Compact for Adult Offender Supervision and the Interstate Compact for Juveniles which govern the movement of offenders between states. There are very specific requirements that must be met before anyone convicted of a felony, certain misdemeanors or adjudicated a delinquent will be allowed to move from the state. Generally, we cannot allow someone on Probation to move to another state without the consent of the other state. Talk to your Probation Officer about the requirements and the process. Your Probation Officer must approve of the move and you must apply to the other state through our office and be accepted by them prior to moving.https://www.courts.state.co.us/Probation/FAQs.cfm

Are they in foster care? I thought the permanent hearing was yesterday.

It probably works as well as the RSO program.

I expected at least some prison or jail time because of the possession of the rifle by a felon.

Amen to that Jax!

I'm floored by that.

Looks like custody has not been resolved:

Today’s plea agreement settled all Nations’ pending cases in El Paso and Teller counties, except for custody case.

Also, prosecutor dismissed trespassing charges.

This is not considering his warrants in IN, just basic rule on moving probation out of CO.
