I now want to know which ones were sealed and why?

If the media hadn't brought DN into the limelight, he'd be but one of the multitude of deadbeats that plague the court system. Sadly the story of his life is not really unique.

Just my opinion but he's not smart enough to outwit LE on one let alone three murder charges.
Bull’s eye! If the DA had any inkling that DN was involved in homicides in CO and/or IN, any inkling at all, the DA could’ve argued for a stiffer penalty or rejected the plea deal, keeping DN incarcerated until trial. Turns out DN’s just, as you say, another deadbeat that plagues the court system.

You don't get a custodial for false id do you? Yet running around threatening with a hatchet only gets probation. Perhaps the Clear Creek charges are something we don't fully know about.

From Reachers' link:

We also learned on Monday that Nations has an outstanding warrant in Clear Creek County for false reporting that will be dealt with at a later time.

October 16- Nations appears in Teller County Court for the weapons charge resulting from his arrest in Woodland Park. We also learned that he has an outstanding warrant in Clear Creek County for false reporting.

"A false report is a crime governed by federal and state laws, which vary by state, involving a person who, with intent to deceive, knowingly makes a false statement that is material to the criminal investigation of a crime and makes the statement to a peace officer or law enforcement official."

Thanks, I was wondering too, the telephone game - false ID?

Sounds like. Sorry I don't know how to post it here, but it shows Appearance of Counsel, on 1/10/18 9:30 AM in Clear Creek Co.

They don't want to keep him in Colorado. They don't want to issue a stiffer penalty, because as we saw with RL, it takes time to modify it. Time and good behavior, per state laws. So...if they kept him, it makes it harder to send him on his way later. They want him gone. ASAP.

On this I know, charges of possessing a weapon by a felon are serious. So are the rest of the charges. The judge doesn't think DN would comply with probation. He knows he wouldn't. But it doesn't matter because he's going to Indiana.

"The alleged menacing happened in the same area where a well-known cyclist was found shot to death earlier this month. Nations also faces a felony weapons possession charge in Teller County, and was charged earlier this summer with presenting a false ID to an officer in Georgetown."

This media report mentions false ID. Who knows, but if threatening people with a hatchet doesn't result in jail time, I doubt this would either.

Under his plea bargain, Nations, 32, admitted to wielding a hatchet while threatening someone during an incident that came Aug. 23, a few weeks before the disappearance of Palmer Lake cyclist Timothy Watkins. Nations has not been accused of playing a role in Watkins' death, and the prospect of his impending release - with no sign of additional charges in sight - raises new questions as to whether the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is any closer to announcing a break in the murder case.

A prosecutor assigned to the case, Pam Radigan, said she had no updates to provide on the Watkins case, and a sheriff's detective who attended the hearing declined to comment.

There were multiple hatchet threats over a period of time, not just 8/23. Did he admit to chasing that other driver as KN said he did and deny the rest, and they didn't want the cost of a trial? I read somewhere he chased a couple kids in one of those instances. MOO

And no comment on TW's case from the sheriff's detective.

Thank you. I wasn't picking up that Georgetown is in Clear Creek Co.

Weeping, Nations asks for probation, saying he wants to reunite with his “babies” — 2 kids, ages 4 and 8 months. They’re in foster care.

Nations says he has PTSD and anxiety that cause “irrational decisions.”

Did they get his voice on tape when he was talking by any chance?

Do you have a factual basis for these claims?

I guess that is where the false reporting would come about. Presenting a false id to avoid reporting as a SO. It's probably a more serious charge when perpetrated by a SO in order to hide his identity.

This looks to be the most important point in the Gazette article:

. Nations has not been accused of playing a role in Watkins' death, and the prospect of his impending release - with no sign of additional charges in sight - raises new questions as to whether the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is any closer to announcing a break in the murder case.

imho

The four extraditable warrants in Indiana are fact. It does seem to be the only thing that explains the leniency imo.

I expected at least some prison or jail time because of the possession of the rifle by a felon.

I am very surprised! (Also noted among lance's tweets a remark that DN was "weeping" in court wanting to get back to his "babies"...) So I am truly wondering now, is DN NOT BG ??? Seems he is not, now.

  • #478
I have an opinion that is no more factual than the opposite opinion. Just common sense. What would you do if you were the judge? Let him go back to DN's same old behavior? None of us would.

He has warrants in Indiana. He's going there, and that's where this judge wants to send him obviously.

Editing to clarify that I am NOT saying he is guilty of A&L's murders. But this judge is happy to send him to deal with his warrants there.

Do you have a factual basis for these claims?

Pardon me, but I was asking Daey34. ;)

I'm reserving my judgement on his intelligence ATM. He's not doing bad so far in the outwitting stakes.

IMHO DN is most likely a sociopath...they are frequently of average intelligence, but very cunning and manipulative.
