Coincidences

You really have to be careful lama because there are numerous folks who are very happy to sue and make a nice living out of it. quote by MurriFlower

Murri, the one person that BRAGGED about suing and getting rich off this story was the Ramsey's attorney, Lin Wood. I'm sure there are many who have gotten rich as a result of this little girl's death, but he is the only one that I've seen brag about it.

Well, he is a lawyer and that's what he does for a living, so no surprises there. I guess if someone is successful in their profession, then they are entitled to brag?

What I meant was not lawyers, but "folks".

I wish most people the best of luck suing an internet forum poster.
Aside from the anonymity most of us enjoy, it's far to easy to say "I didn't write that".

Perhaps being in a different country helps too.
After all, the internet is ABOUT freedom of speech.

Tell that to Julian Assange.

Thank you wonderllama, you have been most helpful! Thank you for your insightful posts!!

Tell that to Julian Assange.

Well, that isn't about freedom of speech, that is about not using your noggin'.

ie: If someone gave me the launch codes to a nuclear weapon and I was a journalist, strong chance I wouldn't be publishing it.

I stick to the adage, just cos you can, doesn't mean you should.

As a fellow Aussie, I feel I should clear up a few things about th Azaria Chamberlain story.

In 1980, in the Australian outback (this didn't happen in a city, it happened 600km from the nearest city Alice Springs which today only has a population in the 20,000s).
The local law enforcement was out of their depth, a dingo had never taken a child before and forensics were far from satisfactory.

Blood in the front seat of the family car turned out to be milkshake residue.

You can begin to see how ordinary this was...but the public wasn't told it was a milkshake, we were told it was blood. We were told the baby's jumpsuit had been CUT, not bitten....and so was the Court.

The family's demeanour was questionable, Mrs Chamberlain got pregnant during the trial, they were 7th Day Adventists (seen as a bit loopy) and there was no evidence that a dingo had taken anything.

The truth came out when the baby's bloody matinee jacket was found years later in a remote area, which proved that the parents couldn't have been involved.

The Chamberlain's were guilty in the eyes of the Public because the media told us they were. There was no internet to study facts ourselves...and anyone being presented with the evidence today would dismiss the case quite quickly.

The Chamberlain's, despite being arrested, sent to trial and found guilty...and even spending time in jail...cooperated with authorities. They genuinely had nothing to hide.

The Australian people have a relatively informal freedom of speech, in that it isn't specifically constitutional. Radio people are fond of adding "allegedly" to a lot of what they say, but the reality is, I can say what I like in a public forum as long as people realise it's my opinion.

It is why we have, compared to the USA, relaxed TV rules, relaxed Radio rules, very VERY low levels of bigotry and censorship. We don't sue people left, right and centre and we're happy.

Agatha_C said heaven wasn't in Oz...but it's based on it.

Wonder,

Please I hope you know, I wasnt attacking Australians or its wonderful peoples. As for heaven, its everywhere.

I just couldn't see your peoples not having the freedom of thought nor the ability to express those thoughts. Thats why I posted a link, so people could read her story (their story). I find it interesting and very sad. People reacted very much to that case as they did and do JBR's. I truly did not mean to offend your beautiful country and fascinating people.

Thank you for sharing the info, I have saved much information on the case and will take notes from what you shared. Again thank you and no offense meant...

  • #567
None taken Agatha, rest assured, I am impossible to offend :D

  • #568
I remember that case very well. I remember thinking right away that it WASN'T the parents, that it was the dingo.
Having trained dogs, especially big dogs, the "wilder" the breed (closer to their wolf ancestors) the more feral the behavior can be. And dingos are wild dogs. Female wild animals are programmed to preserve their OWN genetic offspring and will sometimes kill offspring of other females. In a home with an infant, even the most loving family dog should not be left alone with the baby until the dog is firmly aware that the baby is above it in the family "pack". To the dingo, the baby was "prey". They are predator animals.

Hey, it's just my opinion, protected by your constitution.

Nighty, night. Maybe you them as well LOL.

Murri, you know, why should we be arguing constitutional rights, thats a topic for another forum. If the R's are worried about their rights, then they should be doing something about it, and they're not. So why do you let it bother you? I am seriously wondering that and not being snide. If none of them care enough to prove us wrong, why do you? By your very actions and passion for this case, you have shown more here, then they ever have anywhere.

So, back to the title of the thread.

It's quite the coincidence that despite the fact the R's and their law team insist, even to this day, that JB was killed by an intruder, the R's have never expressed fear for their own safety, their sons safety, or their extended families safety.

They also disregarded safety measures concerning their friends children, when they asked them to come to their house December 26 th.

Ah well, the thing about 'freedom' is that some people abuse it. So then we all demand that they be stopped, new laws made to prevent these idiots from doing what we gave them license to do. There is no end to the number of idiots in the world, so if we make a new law to cover every idiotic thing they do, we end up with what?? Not freedom certainly.

Ok, this is about coincidences. I was just reading about the Azaria Chamberlain case to refresh my memory, seeing as it was discussed.

When it came down to a decision, because of the evidence given by the mother, there was only two choices:

Either
the dingo did it,
or
the mother did it.

There was no other option for the jury to consider as there was no evidence against either the father, the sons or an IDI.

Now, on the other hand, we have divided up the JBR case into two camps, RDI and IDI. So we also have two choices:

RDI
or
IDI

The problem with that is that there are three RDI, and various people have/had theories about each of them as the murderer. Recently people have also been talking about JAR, DrB, DP. All of these as part of the conspiracy, means this is starting to get to be quite a number of potential accomplices as well as suspects. None of the Rs has committed themselves in the way that LC did to having 'seen' the culprit. The RN is still unsourced despite RDI's belief that PR wrote it, this cannot be proven.

With IDI, it basically leaves the rest of the world (including North Korea) that we have to investigate and clear.

This is also why the one piece of evidence that we have (DNA) that indicates IDI, will most likely lead to the solving of the case. But before that can happen, the owner of the DNA needs to be found. So we wait......

Oops! Ya lost me there.

So we wait......
Sadly, this is true. In the meantime, we discuss.

Dave, I think that idi's telling us we are slandering and libeling the R's, telling us we are making up information, even though we provide links to back ourselves up, constantly putting words in our mouths or changing their statements, to try and change the meaning when someone calls them om their errors is also hitting below the belt.

I agree wholeheartedly. I wasn't condemning Beck. If anything, I got a real charge out of seeing someone get fed their own medicine!

For some reason idi's feel there is a double standard. That they can hurl insult after insult and we are supposed to just give them links and information in return. I am not in any way upset with you Dave, but I also think Beckys comment, taken after insults being served up, is understandable.

Perfectly understandable. I just didn't want her to get carried away!

I suggested a while ago now that the RN had never been meant to be left in the house and that it was in fact more correctly a 'ransom script' which it was intended to be read out over the telephone.

Some of you will be aware of this clip, but although I've seen it before, it never occurred to me that this was the basis of the RN. Have a listen. This is as close as you will get to figuring out what the RN is all about.

Is this Ruthless People? I checked Movifone and it says the movie came out in 2002?

Just a little comparison of RN with the transcript of the phone call to Danny DeVito in Ruthless People.

Mr Stone

1. "Mr. Ramsey.

Listen very carefully. We have kidnapped your wife.

We have no qualms about killing and will do so at the slightest provocation.

(Do you understand?)

2. Listen carefully! We are a group of individuals that represent
3. a small foreign faction. We xx respect your bussiness
4. but not the country that it serves. At this time we have
5. your daughter in our posession. She is safe and unharmed and
6. if you want her to see 1997, you must follow our instructions to
7. the letter.

You are not the only
32. fat cat around so don't think that killing will be difficult.

You are to obtain a new, black, American tourister? Briefcase, model no 8104.

(Do you understand?)

Make sure
10. that you bring an adequate size attache to the bank.

In it you will place $500,000 in unmarked, non-sequentially numbered, $100 bills.

(Do you understand?)

8. You will withdraw $118,000.00 from your account. $100,000 will be
9. in $100 bills and the remaining $18,000 in $20 bills

Monday morning at 11am, you will proceed with case in hand to Hope Street Plaza and wait for a phone to ring. You will receive further instructions then.

(Do you understand?)

When you get
11. home you will put the money in a brown paper bag. I will call you
12. between 8 and 10 am tomorrow to instruct you on delivery.
The
13. delivery will be exhausting so I advise you to be rested. If we
14. monitor you getting the money early, we might call you early to
15. arrange an earlier delivery of the money and hence a earlier
16. delivery pickup of your daughter.

You will be watched at all phases of execution, if anyone is with you or if any action is not carried out to our complete satisfaction, it will be considered an infraction of the rules and your wife will be killed.

(Do you understand?)

17. Any deviation of my instructions will result in the immediate
18. execution of your daughter.
You will also be denied her remains
19. for proper burial. The two gentlemen watching over your daughter
20. do not particularly like you so I advise you not to provoke them.

If you notify the Police, your wife will be killed. If you notify the media, she will be killed. If you deviate from our instructions in any way whatsoever, she will be killed.

(Do you understand?)

21. Speaking to anyone about your situation, such as Police, F.B.I.,
22. etc., will result in your daughter being beheaded. If we catch you
23. talking to a stray dog, she dies. If you alert bank authorities, she
24. dies. If the money is in any way marked or tampered with, she dies.

25. You will be scanned for electronic devices and if any are found, she
26. dies.

You can try to deceive us but be warned that we are familiar
27. with Law enforcement countermeasures and tactics. You stand a 99%
28. chance of killing your daughter if you try to out smart us. Follow
29. our instructions and you stand a 100% chance of getting her back.
30. You and your family are under constant scrutiny as well as the
31. authorities. Don't try to grow a brain John. Don't
33. underestimate us John. Use that good southern common sense of yours.
34. It is up to you now John!
35. Victory!
36. S.B.T.C."
