Connecticut school district on lockdown after shooting report at a Newtown elemen-#1

Maybe the door was not locked yet. Announcements did just start. The front doors at my kids school is unlocked until the buses are done dropping off.

My 5 yo's school has a locked gate, however, you can walk into the administrative building and through another door right into the courtyard. I'm wondering if this is what happened and that's how the principal and social worker where killed

Just heard students are 4 years old up to 11 years old.

This is breaking my heart!! The numbers keep going up as we hear more and more. Thinking of the victims and their families today. Our children don't seem to be safe anywhere anymore....except at home.

Not only the victims and their families my heart is also breaking for the children who are experiencing this and their families. School is supposed to be a safe place, not a place where some crazed inhumane :censored: goes on a mass shooting rampage. I can't imagine the struggles these students, their parents and staff are going to face returning to school.

One shooter dead. Possibly there were two. Another man was taken away in handcuffs saying while smiling I didn't do it. So many conflicting stories.

I find it odd he would be smiling, so that tells me if this is truly the case that he was smiling, he was involved...IMHO

My niece is in elementary school (only 7-years-old) and I can not even begin to understand how anyone can shoot and kill such innocent children. Like someone said, they are just BABIES! Going to school! Excited about winter break! Visits to Santa Claus. Baking cookies. Playing in the snow.

My God! And more than ONE person is responsible for this! How can you find two like-minded-people that would go into an elementary school and fire over 100 rounds into a school full of BABIES??? Possibly even a THIRD if reports are true that they are looking for a third vehicle?? WHY??

This is exactly what I just said to one of my co-workers. And added that I deal with crime daily on this website, but this has upset me like no other. It's beyond evil.

I live in the adjacent town I live in Bethel and Sandy Hook a short distance one exit away- there are reports more than 20- ( possibly 27 ) people many of them children were massacred in open fire this morning. Only 3 people have been transferred to Danbury hospital.

Eyewitness News reporters on the scene observed a man in camouflage gear being taken away from the staging area. He screamed to people in the area that he was not involved in the shooting.

The weird thing about buzzing people in at schools is...how are they supposed to know whether someone should be allowed in or not? When I go to my children's school, they just look at me and buzz me in. We have to figure out a better way....THIS isn't working to keep our babies safe!!
