Former student with a grudge? Boyfriend/SO of a teacher or employee unhinged over a breakup?? Homegrown terrorists? WHY????

ETA: A parent???? A PARENT??? The two alleged shooters seem awfully young for that, but a custody dispute?

My God, there are monsters among us.

Connecticut gunman had ties to school; 1 of guns was .223-caliber rifle, law enforcement official says - @AP

Newtown/Sandy Hook is a beautiful area. Lots of country farms and woods. One would never think anything like this would happen there.

Ugh...."with ties to the school"

One of the shooters had "ties to the school?" Could be anyone from a former teacher to a parent. Does anyone of our locals know of an incidents at the school involving a teacher? Firing? Arrest? I still don't think my mind will let me digest how anyone, a teacher or parents with ties to a school, could shoot and kill so many people, especially so many children? What the <modslip> kind of motive could you posibly have to take your rage out on so many children?

No news stations know anything really, everyone is speculating. 20 or 24 yr. old. Parent, not parent. One shooter, two shooters....etc. Gotta go get DS from school now, hopefully I won't miss the presser...bbl.

A lot of conflicting reports.

Has anyone heard whether or not there are adults/children who are hospitalized following the shooting? I've only heard about fatalities.

CBS reporting incident started in principles office. Cursing over the loud speaker. CBS has live coverage.

"Visual monitoring system"

That just sounds like a system designed to faiL

Some of these children are likely children of military service members. Some of these children likely saw the shooter, dressed in his military outfit.

I cannot even begin to fathom the fear that this vision has instilled in these little babies. I cannot begin to imagine how they are now going to react at seeing their own parents dressed in their military garb.

The repercussions of this act are going to be broad and wide-ranging.

I was just going to say that everytime I see someone in uniform; military, police, fire, medical... I tend to smile & feel safe & secure in their presence.

I imagine most of us feel the same way, even teachers and school administrators.

Crazy is crazy... sometimes it wears a BDU, sometimes a police uniform, sometimes a trench coat, sometimes a suit, sometimes nurses & doctors scrubs, sometimes a tennis outfit, etc.... You just never ever know.

Just wanted to say I'm here, following the thread and waiting for presser.

DEEPLY grieving and praying for the victims, their parents, siblings, spouses, and children. And for the witnesses.

Following is the only way I feel I can help. Heartbroken.

One hospital has confirmed they are/were treating three victims and is now in lockdown.

One shooter is dead and a manhunt is on for a second gunman. Police are searching cars. One shooter was described as a 24-year-old armed with four weapons and wearing a bullet vest, sources told ABC News.

It's unclear how many people have been shot, but 25 people, mostly children are dead, multiple federal and state sources tell ABC News. That number could rise, officials said

I wish they wouldn't interview these little kids on National TV, it's just wrong.

I can't believe the parents even allow it! The last thing I would want my child subjected to after having been through that is the media. I would be in a church with my uninjured child praying to God for the victims and my community. That or at home, with the television off, and cuddled on the couch where we could cry together.

I don't get it either!

OMG. Not again. This is beyond horrifying. Crying at work, have to walk away from the computer. :( :( :(

I did the same earlier. I went outside, looked up at the sky and asked WHY?

Looking at the photos of the children crying and holding hands just tore me apart. It's almost Christmas.... A joyous time for children.

Here I go again.....:tears:

One of the posts indicated only 3 people have been transported to the hospital. Hospital will not release any information.....

I agree.

I have NBC New York on, and their worst, most bumbling reporter Jonathan Vigliotti is there, and I wanted to scream at him when he was interviewing this little kid, trying to get more details about the bullets, the number of shots, the gunman, out of him.
