Autopsies were still pending on the bodies of the killer and his mother, Nancy. Local bartender Mike Agius said the slain woman “liked sports.” Agius, 26, who works at My Place said, “She would talk to anyone.”

While Nancy Lanza spoke about her son Ryan, 24, of Hoboken, N.J., she had virtually nothing to say about the 20-year-old who lived with her. “She never mentioned her youngest son,” said Agius. “Just her oldest one.”

The older son went to college and had a job. While the younger one stayed at home, and apparently had no job. So if a parent is going to brag they will brag about a successful child.

How can they be forthcoming when they are still investigating? How can they be forthcoming when they have to stop investigating, to track down people who are creating FAKE facebook pages and claiming to be the shooter?

We all want answers, but we have to understand that there is A LOT of evidence that is being examined. We will get answer, we all just need to be patient! And quite frankly I am sorry but I am willing to wait. These officers I am sure are grieving, and it must be heartbreaking to have to see what they have seen. They too are victims, and I am pretty dang sure that they are all going to need intensive therapy because of what they have seen, witnessed. Answers will come in time. But try to see things from the other perspective.
Waiting to be spoonfed information by official sources is an excellent way to relinquish one's responsibility as a citizen to be informed.

Are they reporting it with Malice, or intent to create false information?? Or are they simply reporting what they can, with what they have? If the media is doing their jobs, and is not posting something deliberately to cause harm, then we can link to MSM. As errors cannot be prevented, and things happen. We trust news organizations, and sometimes it is all we can take as facts until more information comes to light.

I have no idea how I am supposed to determine whether MSM is reporting false information with malice, or reporting what they can with what they have.

amen!

Waiting to be spoonfed information by official sources is an excellent way to relinquish one's responsibility as a citizen to be informed.

And eating up every tasty, salacious tidbt offered up by often inacurate MSM is the quickest way to say goodbye to our critical thinking skills.

I think we must all meet somewhere in the middle. We must read read read to be informed but must question question question.

Is what I have read acurate? Is it factual?

Only each individual can decide, and only if they are willing to use their own critical thinking skills and post responsibly.

Thanks for giving me a jumping off point wfgodot. As always you give me much food for thought.

Neighbors are saying that Adam Lanza was just a normal kid. A nice kid. The neighbors say the mother kept the house nice and there was no trouble at the home.

One of Lanza's aunts, Marsha, described him as a "quiet, nice kid," but he had issues with learning, she said. Her husband is Lanza's paternal uncle.

"He was definitely the challenge of the family in that house. Every family has one," she told CNN affiliate WLS. "They have one. I have one. But never in trouble with the law, never in trouble with anything."

Just do the best you can.
If it is reportedly posted by the shooter and even hints that it may not authentic- then wait for confirmation from LE.
That would be a good place to start.

The particular issue in question started off with the headline "is this real or fake"

Red flag.

ETA:
Also look for clues like "LE said" or "source said" or "investigators close to the scene said"- as these are NOT the same as Chief said "direct quote to his words".
This is a subtle but critical distinction in teasing out information that may be true but has not been confirmed.

Hope that helps

Its not that hard. Most news sources are not intending to report false information, nor are they intending to harm the public.

Common Sense!

I think I will wait for the promised Medex report to be delivered by CSP, or is the information quoted by the Courant from that report?

lt Vance - Too much . They may have to go after Gov Dannel Malloy after all. he has quoted the MSM

Hi everyone, If you have the time listen to Tricia's show tonight..It is going to be good..I will be there listening.. hope to see everyone there

Has this aunt actually met him any time recently? My understanding that she isn't the biological aunt, she is the wife of father's older brother, and they weren't getting together frequently.

If given the choice of waiting uncritically to be spoonfed by authority or critically foraging in the great wilderness of media, I'll take the latter any day.

I think the police are handling this great. They are not releasing information until they have all the pieces put together. Going after those that are pretending to be the killer now and potentially going after those that have been reporting falsely about facts of the case. This to me is how an investigation should be done. Releasing information that is needed, but keeping the details out of it until they have the all the parts to the puzzle. Kudos to them for making sure the public has the knowledge they need and keeping the public up to date with investigation progression.

Hope32, thank you for your measured response! Seems emotions are heightened all around so it is nice to hear level-headed thinking.

In this article she is saying that her husband saw the shooter in June which I take to mean that it's longer than that, perhaps much longer than that since she saw him herself. She lives in Illinois so the distance would probably make it rather infrequent.
Lanza's aunt said her nephew was raised by kind, nurturing parents who would not have hesitated to seek mental help for him if he needed it.

Marsha Lanza, of Crystal Lake, Ill., said she was close with Adam Lanza's mother and sent her a Facebook message Friday morning asking how she was doing. Nancy Lanza never responded.

Marsha Lanza described Nancy Lanza as a good mother and kind-hearted.

If her son had needed counseling, "Nancy wasn't one to deny reality," she told The Associated Press late Friday.

Marsha Lanza said her husband saw Adam as recently as June and recalled nothing out of the ordinary about him.

:blushing: SO..... What can I do?........:rocker:

:waitasec: Did any of you guys notice some of the first responders cuddling the kids & the teddy bears that "magically" appeared? :great: MANY (okay just about ALL of the trunks of the "OFFICIAL vehicles") in Connecticut carry stuffed animals for our littlest (and yeah, even some of our "not so little") victims/suffers and each cuddlie gives an individual something, nay "someone" to focus upon, to concentrate his/her nurturing, try to "step away" from the current horror"and a focal point for a rescuer to open up a dialog (:floorlaugh: okay, a chit-chat!:floorlaugh:).

:twocents: SO.....while Toys for Tots are asking for donations at this time of year, how about checking in with your local PD, FD, EMS or State public information officer and see if they have a program or if not, perhaps just start one by donating a box of stuffed "critters" (AND NO, THEY DO NOT have to BE HUGE TOYS!):seeya:

And for those of you who "know" me.........ya knew I had to use my "smilies" sometime this weekend :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
