Natalie Hammond was probably cracking jokes Friday morning when she went to a staff meeting in the principal's office at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Hammond, described Monday by her best friend as "one of the funniest people on the planet," would have been feeling good because it was her daughter Kayla's 12th birthday.

Hammond, the recently promoted lead teacher at the school, is one of two wounded survivors of the nightmare that befell Sandy Hook on Friday.

I'm not saying I want to hear of the horror the children went through its hard to listen to what is already out.

IF Adam didn't like being touched, why didn't he have meltdowns when getting his hair cut?

In the article with the throat-slitting wannabe barber (shiver), the barber states that the last time he cut Axxx's hair was approx. 3 years ago. Maybe the killer changed barbers or maybe he had become increasingly unable to be touched (his mental condition was changing and becoming more bizarre)?

Curious that someone comments on the article that they personally saw AL's facebook profile before it was taken down - although I hardly believe anything anymore. Even if that were true, doesn't mean that pic is AL.

Family of Josephine Gay Releases Statement

On Friday, December 14, 2012, our beautiful daughter, Josephine Grace Gay, was killed in an unimaginable tragedy at her elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. Joey, many of her friends, teachers, and school staff members were taken from our loving community. Joey turned 7 three days prior to this tragedy and was looking forward to celebrating at her birthday party with many of these friends the next day.

Although our family is devastated, we are deeply comforted in the knowledge that she is no longer scared or hurting and rests in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is through His sufficient grace that we are able to get through this. Our innocent, trusting little girl stared into the face of unimaginable evil and overcame it in Christ. She was not alone in her courage.

Our small, close-knit community acted instantly. First responders from our town and those surrounding quickly removed surviving children and staff members from the scene. Connecticut state troopers have tended to our families around the clock, surrounding us with protection and compassion. Neighbors, religious communities, townspeople, and professionals are providing the care and love that we are so in need of now. We see this movement grow daily with acts of love and kindness pouring in from around the country and the world. We see how evil is defeated.

Since Joey's passing, we have received many media requests for our story and for pictures of our daughter. Although we are protecting our family’s privacy during this time of healing, we believe it is important to share some of Joey's story. It will help us if others know what a special person she was and how she inspired everyone she met.Joey was autistic and severely apraxic. She could not

speak, yet she touched the lives of so many around her: teachers, therapists, friends, neighbors, all loved and cherished her. Joey was social and affectionate; she smiled, she loved hugs, and she even had a wonderful sense of humor. Her spirit was indomitable. She participated in rigorous therapy and treatment on a daily basis without complaint. She loved to play with her Barbie dolls, iPad, and computer, swim, swing, and be anywhere her sisters were.

Josephine loved the color purple. Born in Maryland, she grew up in a family of Ravens fans and developed an affinity for all things purple. She rarely left the house without wearing something purple. After her passing, many friends who visited wore purple clothing to honor her. On Saturday a family friend tied purple balloons on the mailboxes on our street, and on Sunday the neighborhood children and her sisters and cousins released purple balloons with written messages of love to her in heaven.

We will not let this tragedy define her life. Instead, we will honor her inspiring and generous spirit. We have established Joey’s Fund in her name through the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism. The proceeds of this fund will help families raising autistic children. It’s our way of dealing with this pain and never letting go of her love.

Oh, and if he had Aspergers, there was definitely more issues to be tacked on to having Aspergers. The more and more I am reading here, and the members here who have children with Aspergers, I can not see him having that condition.

Also, there was a girl on America's Next Top Model one year, her name was Heather, and she had Aspergers, and I found her to be the sweetest thing. There were some girls who were horribly vicious towards her because of her differences. She would never become frustrated with the other girls, but would often become frustrated with herself. She had a harder time adjusting to the social aspect of the competition (casting calls, talking with the girls, etc...), but I felt she did remarkably well and had moments where she did become involved with the other girls in the competition. She was a stunning young woman though and I never forgot her or her name.

I don't know? I just cannot put together all the personal accounts I have read about Aspergers and connect them with him? I just can't see it. I believe he was assumed to have Aspergers (by his family) without any formal diagnosis or he was severely misdiagnosed by a doctor.

That was Dylan...Dylan who lived across the street from the Lanzas. I think there is some sort of connection there. Did AL see him out playing? Know Dylan had issues and was getting help, support, an aide? Had a older brother who loved and adored him? Had both parents in the house?

There might be something to that.

I can only speculate based on our own experience: every three years school districts complete an MFE: multi-factor evaluation, in which IEP goals are reviewed, IQ testing is done, and diagnosis reviewed. Initial diagnosis is by a physician and on the basis of that, an IEP is put into place. If the shooter were at Sandy Hook in fifth grade he would have been up for an evaluation that school year. The school psychologist does do an evaluation of him also for the MFE...it's possible if it was the same psychologist as when he was in fifth grade, he could have 'blamed' her for some reason. The fact that one of the children had special needs and died along with his teacher's aide in her arms has haunted me...did he have a purpose in taking out the school psychologist and principal, as 'authority figures' - did he want to stop another child from going through the system of testing and evaluations? Did he try to destroy this school and these innocent lives because he blamed them for setting him on the 'wrong' path? These questions HAUNT me.

I hadn't thought of the impact of being pulled out of school, but you are right. That was his only form of socialization. I wonder what kind of plan the school district had that upset NL so much that she pulled him out of school?
