That is standard language in a divorce when the house is awarded to the ex. This is so the other party can move on and be able to buy another home and qualify for that mortgage

I agree. The divorce decree was made 3 years ago. NL and AL did not have to relocate because of it. In fact, NL likely refinanced the home under her own name and in fact had been living in it with AL for the past 3 years.

According to the barber, Adam responded only to Nancy, she was also Adam's voice. Adam at a young age seemed totally dependent on Nancy for his social interactions - that is not high functioning.

It would be at the young age when Adam attended Sandy Hook school, that he would of become aware of the fact that he was different in some way. It would be a confusing frightening time for him. Maybe he blamed the school in some way. JMO MOO

AL went to school, took college classes, learned to drive. That's high functioning.

On The Media is an non partisan, unbiased NPR program which " As defined by co-host Garfield, On the Media covers "…anything that reaches a large audience—either electronically or otherwise…. Plus, throw into that anything that covers First Amendment issues; anything that has to do with freedom of speech, privacy, is also in our portfolio."[The show explores how the media are changing, and their effects on America and the world. Many stories are centered on events of the previous week and how they were covered in the news. These often consist of interviews with reporters about the dilemmas they face in covering controversial issues."

This week's episode focuses heavily on examining the media coverage of the Sandy Hook massacre.

I think Adam was high functioning in some ways -- he could drive, entertain himself with videogames, get dressed, etc., -- but low functioning in others. His mom had to prepare meals for him to reheat; he either wasn't allowed or was incapable of cooking for himself, and he apparently was not verbally communicative with outsiders.

I agree that it must have been frightening for Adam not being able to connect with other people growing up, and that he likely felt different and not "normal" (though I hesitate to use this word because everyone has quirks and idiosyncrasies). Could be that he blamed the elementary school maybe for rejecting him and causing his mom to extricate him from the school, which further caused his isolation and deterioration in social interactions.

During the past year and a half, Ford said, Nancy Lanza had told him that she planned to move out West and enroll Adam in a "school or a center." The plan started unfolding after Adam turned 18.

"She knew she needed to be near him," Ford said. "She was trying to do what was positive for him."

If this is a true statement she wasn't sending him away........she was going with him.
But she was planning something for his future.
1.5 years at 18 .........19.5 to 20 years old would be now?
IMO, AL KNEW the plan and hated it! MOTIVE JMOO

You didn't misunderstand and that was a quote by a friend.
Nancy was going to put him in a school or a center. When discussing autistic adults, a "center" is a residential habilitation center. Some of these are called "schools". See Ranier School in Buckley, Washington. This is a RHC, but called a school.

Residential Habilitation Centers (RHC)
RHCs are state-operated residential settings that provide habilitation training, 24-hour supervision, and medical/nursing services for clients who meet Medicaid eligibility and need active treatment services. An RHC may be certified as an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID) and/or licensed as a Nursing Facility. In addition, respite and other specialized services may be available to clients living in the community. There are four RHCs in Washington State.
Fircrest School Shoreline, Washington
Lakeland Village, Medical Lake, Washington
Rainier School, Buckley, Washington
Yakima Valley School, Selah, Washington

Has anything been released about what time they think NL was killed?

I looked up the school bus route this morning...the school bus turned onto their street every morning at 8:43, passed their house around 8:45 and was to the school by 8:55. He was at the school within an hour of the school bus going by. These things seem linked to me somehow.

I find it curious that very few people from Newtown have come forward to offer anything they might have known, seen, witnessed, heard etc. about AL and NL. I also find it very telling.

We've seen where it was said that AL went grocery shopping? Really? I highly doubt that - wouldn't someone have come forward saying that they saw him in the grocery store? I would think so.

The barber shop people came forward and spoke candidly - however, they haven't seen him in 2 (3?) years.

The My Place people came forward - but said NL's visits had sharply declined in the past few months.

AL had retreated to his basement and stayed there. TWO YEARS! That's a long long long time. When he should have been getting help, therapy, treatment - anything - he, instead languished in that basement falling further and further into the abyss of mental illness.

We will never know the dynamic between AL and NL in these past 2 years. Did she walk on eggshells with him? Did she try to "coax" him out of that basement - even if it was only to eat dinner with her at the dining room table? Or, was he becoming more and more introverted and possibly aggressive towards anything mom was suggesting?

The report that mom wouldn't leave anyone inside the house - I wonder if she had a camera on the front door and AL could monitor it from his computer? If someone came to the door - he would then know if she let them in or not - and was she threatened by him that leaving anyone in would result in a confrontation with him? We will never know.

I'm also very curious at what he looked like now. That DL pic is disturbing and that was 2 years ago. Living in a basement with no exposure to natural light, sunshine, fresh air, etc. can really take a toll on a body. It almost sounds like some kind of behavioral experiment - locking a person in a windowless room with nothing to do but play violent, role-play shooter games to see what effects happen.

NL had lived there for 14 years - yet no real friends have surfaced. The town itself is not recognizing her as a victim (26 memorials). The little bit of insight we've gotten is from the My Place people - NL would stop in, have a glass or two of wine - alcohol tends to allow people to open up, that's why I think she would talk to people. Even then she never said much.

The guns. I have no idea what to think about all that. Was AL behind her buying those guns? He could have been, talking about them, wishing he had one, etc. - NL could have taken that as a way for her to reach him. IDK. I will never understand why those serious weapons were brought into that house - JMHO.

We will all have to wait until LE releases the final report of this and I don't think there will be any "A-HA" moments.

It does make total sense!
We heard from a plumber and a handy man that did some pipe and chimney work.
The plumber said he saw the room as it was, military posters etc...
The handy man saw it with "art" on the wall.
Clearly she was preparing to sell it.
IIRC she was supposed to sell it or transfer it into her name by Feb. 2011.
According to court records there was some financial or property dispute.
That does fit the "year and a half" time line as well.
I do not know if that had been done.
NL commented about "downsizing" as well.

Mr. Lanza did not want to be "liable" for the property...
interesting in light of what has happened...

"There was a check mark in a "limited contest" box on one form -- meaning there appeared to be some financial or property disputes"
" Nancy Lanza got the Newtown, Conn., house, which she was required to sell or refinance by February 2011 so he would no longer be liable"

I wondered if this coincided with PL getting remarried. jmo

I still cannot understand how he could be left home alone. I don't believe he was free to roam throughout the home when there alone, and was able to go anywhere he chose in his car. I just don't know.

Have you seen the house PL and his wife live in?
I saw one pic. It looked like a very modest home.
No way to know for sure if it really was his.
Media got mom's house wrong so....

I think the guns are a red flag for something. Friends said she got them for protection since she was a single lady living in that big home. She had guns that should be locked in a safe. You upgrade your alarm system, put in surveillance cameras/equipment, get a dog and maybe a handgun for your bedside, etc. For security...the one thing you don't do is go around showing your guns to your lawn person, etc. Thieves burglarize homes for those kinds of weapons!

All those guns in a short time. I wonder how many other guns she has. She just doesn't look like the "assault rifle" type. :banghead:

Good points ... I can't see that many and those types of guns for normal protection concerns. I think someone said this before, but if you had those types of guns, one would think you'd lock all but one up so that no one could get ahold of them. Although it might not be correct, in one article a friend, I believe said she had a dozen or more guns. That's the only source as far as I know.

Yes, very strange indeed. Either NL had a very very circle of "friends" and maybe they were just very casual friends or the friends really know so little that they have nothing to offer. We need to hear from the PL and RL and hopefully we will soon.
