Coronation of King Charles III - 6 May 2023

The King is to deliver a personal message to the nation about his cancer.

He has recorded a television broadcast from the Morning Room at Clarence House about his “recovery journey”, alongside a plea for early cancer screening.

The video message, filmed at the end of November, will be aired on Channel 4 at 8pm on Friday as part of Stand Up To Cancer 2025, a joint campaign with Cancer Research UK.

The King was expected to stress the importance of cancer screening programmes in enabling early diagnosis and reflect on his own recovery journey, Buckingham Palace said.

I feel his talk was very moving and such valuable information for the whole country....
These powerful people do make a difference when spreading the importance of screenings and early diagnosis.

Wonder if Charles is going to step down at some point and pass the kingship to William?

William is ready to be king.

It is hard to imagine how it feels, at the age of 74, to actually "start the job" you were born to do.

"He told Radio 4's Today programme:

'We have come a long way but where we are now
is that the King is able to say in those very warm, gentle, thoughtful, kind terms
'I have this cancer.
I am living with this cancer
and I am continuing my very busy schedule all this time
and now mercifully for me and also my schedulers
I can have less time spent obeying doctors' orders'.

King Charles was diagnosed by chance in February 2024 after being admitted to hospital for routine surgery for an enlarged prostate.
