@chrisshipitv

These 7 Jersey Heifers are being gifted to the King and will live at Home Farm in Highgrove. (At least the King knows they are likely to keep the breed going)

People *and animals got a bit excited about having the British King and Queen in Jersey today. Well if you’re one of the cows named after this island - you might as well make your mark

The King's Speech, delivered by the monarch but written by the government,
outlines the legislative agenda and policies for the upcoming parliamentary session.
While it presents the government's priorities,
it is not legally binding, serving more as a ceremonial declaration of intent.

Before the monarch’s arrival, the Yeomen of the Guard, the royal bodyguards, conduct a ceremonial search of the cellars of the Palace of Westminster.
This tradition dates back to the Gunpowder Plot of 1605 when Guy Fawkes, a Catholic, attempted to blow up Parliament and the monarch at the time,
King James I, a Protestant.

Britain’s King Charles set out Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s legislative agenda on Wednesday, promising a government of service focused on reviving the economy and tackling issues from an acute housing shortage to a cost of living crisis.

In a ceremony full of pageantry, before an audience of robed lords and lawmakers, Charles read out the laws the government is prioritizing after Starmer’s center-left Labour Party won a large majority at this month’s election.

The package of more than 35 bills will focus on growing the economy, reforming planning laws to make it easier to build homes and speeding up the delivery of major infrastructure projects, improving transport and creating jobs...

  • The money to fund the Royal Family is set to soar in the coming years with a 53% jump in revenues. The soaring profits for the Crown Estate on which the budget is set for the official work of the Royals – follow a significant boost from new offshore windfarm licenses. The estate is projecting profits of £1.1 billion which would mean an increase in funding for the Royals to £132 million in 2025/26, compared to the £86.3 million now.
  • The King has ordered his treasurers to reduce the proportion for the royals to 12% - from the current 25% - so that more money is returned to the taxpayer.
  • It was also revealed there were 27,620 items of correspondence sent to the palaces for the King and Kate following their health announcements.
  • Costs incurred by the Sovereign Grant for the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla came to £800,000 although that doesn’t include security and military costs which are paid by the government.
  • Two new helicopters will be delivered in the coming year to replace the existing ones which are 155 years old, and the replacements can run on 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel – the maximum currently permitted. The cost of helicopter travel for members of the Royal Family hit the £2 million mark for the year.
  • The travel costs for Kenya came to £167,000 followed by the State Visit to France in September which cost £118,000.

    + But the 24th Duke, now King Charles, did open his books to show he paid £5.9m income tax in 2021/22
