Chinese officials said a further decline in new coronavirus infections on Tuesday suggested the epidemic was stabilising on the mainland. There were 125 new cases – down from 202 recorded a day earlier – and the lowest number since China’s health authority began publishing nationwide data in January.
The National Health Commission said there were also 31 new fatalities, bringing the death toll to 2,943. With 114 of the latest cases occurring in Hubei, where the disease first emerged, there was also a jump in new infections outside the province to 11, up from six a day earlier. A total of 47,204 patients have now recovered.

I live in SA, and this is turning into a hot mess fast. What good is quarantine if they’re releasing people too quickly, and with pending lab results?? They’re scheduled to release all of the quarantined cruise passengers tomorrow. Last week, it was 90+ quarantined after returning directly from China where all of this started.

This particular person was released, stayed in a local hotel, came into contact with at least a dozen people, who have come into contact with an untold number of people... it’s just a mess. Nobody seems to know what they’re doing, if we can’t even get basic quarantine and testing protocols down.

The first mistake was asking/assuming they would self-quarantine. People just don't follow the rules they get bored.
Two weeks wasn't long enough either!

I wonder where they’re keeping them isolated. At their homes?

Florida sees 2 coronavirus cases, DeSantis calls for public health emergency

The infected individuals are residents of Hillsborough and Manatee County, both near the Tampa Bay area. Officials said the Hillsborough County resident has a history of traveling to Italy, while the patient from Manatee County has no travel history to any of the CDC-restricted countries.

Both patients are in isolation and actively being monitored by the Florida Department of Health. They will remain there for at least 14 days or until they test negative for COVID-19. He designated the department as the lead state agency to coordinate an emergency response.

Who monitors them? How do they know they are self quarantining and not leaving the house to run errands?

I am hoping they will soon figure out exactly how this gets transmitted - its easier to avoid people coughing/sneezing on you, and being careful about what you touch... but the idea of it somehow floating in the air from people who don't know they are sick is what freaks me out.

I have a friend in Oregon who had recent viral pneumonia and lives IN the town with the diagnosed cases. She called the ER and they told her she probably had it but to just self quarantine. They wouldn't test her.

In what may be the first case of coronavirus in South Florida, a Miami woman says she was told by doctors at @JacksonHealth that she “likely” has COVID-19, but state and federal officials wouldn’t conduct the necessary tests to confirm it. @CBSMiami

I read a news update today. If I understand right, it was a nurse at a local hospital that was exposed from a patient. She and her teen son are at home. Neither of them have symptoms tho.

I am wondering the same thing. Are they under surveillance?? Who’s doing their errands like grocery shopping? The son can do classes on Florida Virtual school so that’s no concern. I guess for her this falls under Workers Comp.

Here’s the article about the student.
Class goes on at Sarasota Military Academy after coronavirus contact

Here’s the article about the man going to the hospital.

If I was that person I might call the health department, CDC or media. That's being jerked around #1, and #2, if she is positive they MUST do contact tracing. I'd be on the horn.

This morning, we participated in a #coronavirus update call with Vice President Mike Pence. Georgians can rest assured that - while there are no confirmed cases in Georgia - local, state, and federal partners are hard at work preparing for any scenario. #gapol

State public health lab IDs a “presumptive positive” case of COVID-19, in a Norfolk County woman in her 20s who recently returned from Italy. If confirmed by the CDC, it would be the second case of the new coronavirus in Massachusetts. State lab began testing specimens Friday.
