I've spoken to some aquaintances they already said they'd sneak out to go party or hang out with friends. So, no I don't trust others to self-isolate!

I’m so glad you called them “acquaintances” and not friends. Otherwise, I’d suggest getting new friends. How incredibly selfish to even think about sneaking out of isolation to hang out or party. It’s people like that who are going to be the death of some of us.

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health today announced its first presumptive positive case of COVID-19 since testing started Friday, February 28, at the State Public Health Laboratory. The woman is in her 20s and lives in Norfolk County. She recently traveled to Italy with a school group and was symptomatic. She is recovering at home.

The individual’s test results came back positive just this evening. Specimens will be sent to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and, if confirmed, this would be the second confirmed positive COVID-19 case in Massachusetts since the outbreak started in the US in January. The risk to the public from COVID-19 remains low in Massachusetts.

Where are all these people getting Covid in Italy? The airports? Planes?

They must be detecting only a fraction of those actually carrying it. How did like all the people with it just happen to decide to hop planes to dozens of different countries across the world and infect people everywhere?

Just got back from my local supermarket. They were swamped. Meat department was seriously wiped out. Checker says it's been nuts. P.S. I'm in San Diego, California.

I just went to the market in Santa Ana. It’s kind of funny. Everything was pretty much there except much of the organic frozen veggies. Store was FULL of meat. Toilet paper. Canned goods. The rice was a bit depleted. Some of the sale toilet paper was out.

I got some provisions. But I’m not doing more. My problem is I usually shop daily for what we are eating that night. Unless I go out. I’m not used to pre-planning.

I am hoping they will soon figure out exactly how this gets transmitted - its easier to avoid people coughing/sneezing on you, and being careful about what you touch... but the idea of it somehow floating in the air from people who don't know they are sick is what freaks me out.

That is the only way it can be spreading. Infected people coughing and sneezing, as with Flu, it doesn't have to fly in your face for you to catch it. It is airborne and we breathe the same air. And as with the Flu, it seems the spray from a sneeze can land living germs onto hard surfaces and door handles etc. Hence the 'keep your hands sanatized and away from your face' advice! There does not have to be any direct or physical contact with an infected person.. If you walk into a room that they have just walked out of, you're highly likely going to catch it. The world has lost the battle to contain it IMO X

I'm thinking it has to be a place where international tourist go - could be people working at a landmark, tour guides, hotel workers?

Or, it's so widespread in Italy you could get it anywhere?

I wish they would say what day this guy flew in to Atlanta. Some friends of mine went through there recently and it would be nice to know if it was before or after this man.

Someone was sneezing like mad in the supermarket. Young man in front of me coughed once and I acted like he was the plague. Ran backwards and waited a few seconds. Probably did me no good.
