what about taste??
I'm used to it so don't even notice any TBH. And to be fair, I don't gargle with it. I put a tiny amount in my mouth and swish it around for a minute or so to rinse the toothpaste. I actually feel something is incomplete if I'm not able to do so. It's not harmful, btw. I also use it if my cat scratches me when jumping off my lap. It foams up and cleans the wound effectively.

ETA I cannot tolerate the taste of mouthwash at all...Ugh! So there's that too. H2O2 tastes a heck of a lot better. IMO

I just got back from my calm and rational buying vs panic buying ;). Forget hand sanitizer, there is no rubbing alcohol anywhere. I went to Aldi and Walmart and saw only wiped out shelves in the rice, beans and rubbing alcohol and hand sanitizer sections here in north Georgia. I am so glad I bought that stuff earlier. I saw carts with loads of bottled water and lysol but not a ton of people shopping.

Last night it suddenly occurred to me that spaghetti squash and butternut squash are a great food storage idea since they are fresh instead of frozen or canned and stay good for months. So that rounds out my mostly vegetarian food storage. I really only need to order a few immune boosters off Amazon. And go get a bunch of animal feed this afternoon.

Now I need to catch up on 6 more pages!
Rubbing alcohol has been out for weeks here. I was told 2 weeks ago that dr office's have been buying them in stores out of fear that they can not get their products from their regular supplier. Pet food is depleted in our area as well.

"Public and private labs say they’re not even close to reaching the federal government’s promises that thousands, if not a million, tests for the virus could be 'performed' soon."
Estimates Fall Short of F.D.A.’s Pledge for 1 Million Coronavirus Tests

The Association of Public Health Laboratories, which represents state and local government laboratories around the country, has said that its labs would be able to conduct about 10,000 tests a day when all of its 100 members that can perform testing are running. Scott Becker, the executive director of the lab association, said Monday that labs can run about 100 tests per day. As of Monday, he said fewer than half of those labs were able to do so.

I agree.....US is one of the countries....

I don’t know other than a lot of people don’t drink Houston city water. Honestly it’s not very good compared to other parts of the country. I mean it won’t kill you but most people I know drink bottled or have filtration systems. I think they are preparing for a hurricane type situation and in those, the city issues boil water ordinances I think. Honestly I don’t pay that close attention because we are on well and have gravity fed water filter. I know work crews like to stock up on the bottled for being outdoors so I think it’s a fairly lean supply regardless (never like this though). Plus some of the shipping channel boats stock up here as well. Someone bought two pallets online and they told him he could only buy 20. Apparently there was a screaming match going on.
I wonder if people think the water supply will be contaminated?

I can’t imagine it would be.... am I missing something? Is this possible?

Fauci: the federal govt is not going to be able to make hundreds of millions of doses of vaccine. Needs commercial partner. @MittRomney asks if govt should provide funding to have capacity ready to go. HHS's Kadlec says yes. Only capacity we have now is egg production #COVID19

Kadlec: We'd have a longer than 6th-month wait to scale up vaccine production based on existing technology (cited egg production). Note Sanofi-Pasteur, others, discussing recombinant production #COVID19

HHS's Robert Kadlec tells @MittRomney U.S. would need 3.5B N95 respirator masks in most severe situation; currently has 10% of what's needed #COVID19

Asked about aircraft exposure, CDC's Anne Schuchat says "just a couple rows" around exposed passenger may be at risk. @MittRomney asks "should we not be telling people on airplanes: you may not cough or sneeze unless you're covering your mouth?" #COVID19. OMG

Ooo I was just wondering about him. Testing negative means what though?
It means that at the moment he was tested, he was negative for having coronavirus. But it doesn't mean that tomorrow that won't change.
In other words if we believe that a person can harbor the virus for 14 days with NO symptoms,
then it's an ongoing process to monitor those that are sickly even if their body doesn't react positive to the test.
The authorities believe this is why the disease got a foothold in Wa. state, because people were carriers of the disease before they tested positive.

I’m still annoyed with my current tp situation. We always have one family sized pack idk 24-36 whatever rolls? Plus an open family pack on hand. Dh shops so I’m going to have to mention it without sounding panicky lol. They discontinued our usual brand /size preferred type last month so he apparently hasn’t chosen an alternative. FWIW I have. No idea if they’re mega super double. No clue. Just know I don’t want to run out

eta four people in the household

TP update: DH got two jumbo roll 6-packs at Meijer yesterday. There was plenty of stock for the time being. While they weren't on this month's Costco list, we also buy multipacks of Cottonelle Flushable Wipes to keep our bums clean :D We're not going to panic but feel that we are in good stead with household supplies and food staples at this time.

Rubbing alcohol to make own hand sanitizer for me at least. Hand sanitizer was flying off shelves weeks ago here, so that was my next best option. But when I was at the store yesterday there was NO alcohol left whatsoever.

Peroxide I think is also an option for disinfecting. (Although I’ve not seen any “recipes” using it for hand sanitizer)

I am sure other posters can answer this better but I will try.
I have rubbing alcohol, 70% in a spray bottle
i spray my hands, cell and car keys when I get home. Kills viruses.

Coronavirus costs may start to mount for those getting tested and treated

Americans with flu-like symptoms are rushing to doctors and hospitals to check if they have coronavirus.

But that testing – and treatment, if they are indeed infected and in serious condition – could mean big surprise medical bills for some patients. Already, there are reports of those being checked and those being quarantined winding up on the hook for thousands of dollars.

I am guessing some people do think that, and since the local and state and federal governments are quick to blame the public for things, I am blaming them for this because they have not made enough public service announcements that clearly communicate you cannot contract this from the water supply (or can you? lol). So I suspect some do think that public water supplies could be a source of infection.
