I have tickets to fly across country in April to see family. DH says he's still going.....I don't believe I will.
My son is taking the family - my DIL, my granddaughter (8) & my grandson (6) to Miami in April. The kids have a week off from school. (NY/ Long Island). They are flying SWA. I hesitate to lean on him to cancel...it's hard to be or not to be an overbearing mom (mother-in-law). Maybe I'll give it a few more weeks and he'll figure it out for himself. Or DIL will. Or SWA will.

Maybe time for the long awaited cross country car road trip. Then again, having to stay in motels and eat at restaurants along the way may defeat the purpose and give even more risk. Gosh, Im so sorry to hear of so many that have/had travel plans. Its a tough call to make.

Louis Tomlinson has announced that he will cancel his upcoming concert in Italy, amid fears of a coronavirus outbreak.

The former One Direction band member released a statement via Twitter sharing the news to his fans. "Following the decree from the President of the Council of Ministers on 5th March my headline show in Milan next week will now not go ahead," he wrote.

The 28-year-old singer said that he had been so excited to bring his Walls Tour to Italy, but felt that it was better safe than sorry. "The health and safety of my fans is more important than anything else," he said.

so I have good news and bad news and more good news

first my oncologist tells me I am no longer immune-suppressed so I'm not in the vulnerable population! yay!
second there is no hand sanitizer anywhere in this city (we should've grabbed it last time we were shopping)
third I already have three bottles of hand sanitizer in this house so we'll be alright

Congratulations to your immune system! Woo hoo!

@Tbone144, Which brand of aloe gel did you use? I was going to test 2 brands tomorrow to see which works best.
I saw one of the news stations here did a clip where they made some. It showed them putting the Aloe through a strainer, maybe that would help.

No, I think the media is reporting things in an alarming manner because that sells papers and gets clicks. And, yes, we have no accurate numbers upon which to base mortality figures.

RE post that says such, my comment are in red

"I think the media is reporting things in an alarming manner because that sells papers and gets clicks. "

Which media is alarming. Many I have seen are "no problem". And what you are saying is alarming, are you referring to the report of all the elderly dying in King county? Yes, it is alarming indeed. Good for them to put out the alram MOO

"And, yes, we have no accurate numbers upon which to base"

Numbers are never accurate per say. That is why scientists and many of us at WS over the threads since #1 thread look at trends. No longer are we even much discussing the accuracy for those who have been here from the beginning as we KNOW and scientists and everyone has said they aren't EXACTLY accurate. As the WHO has said again and again, look at trends and science.

I will not get sidetracked, and probably many here since the beginning get off track of what is going on by more and more discussions of not being accurate. We all know that NOT ONE country is accurate as to the actual counts of the infections MOO.

Many here have not delved into the day to day scientific journals and pylogenetics and politics and youtubes which abound. Very few here have but I appreciate each and every one of their very well researched opinions. There is NO other place on the net MOO that has such involvement and passion as to getting the real deal information.

MOO

The number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Australia has climbed past 50, and include a baby diagnosed in South Australia and a tourist in the Northern Territory.

At Liverpool hospital, 23 staff and five patients have been identified as potential close contacts of a confirmed case. Elsewhere, in Brisbane and Sydney, nursing home staff have been forced into isolation after coming into contact with the virus.

Australia’s chief medical officer, Professor Brendan Murphy, has warned the worst-case scenario for Australia was “millions of people being infected over a period of several weeks”. However, he said the country’s public health systems were well prepared if widespread outbreaks occurred.

Experts say that washing your hands is a more effective protection against coronavirus COVID-19 than hand sanitiser.
If you can't access soap and water, sanitiser is the next best thing, according to a World Health Organisation advisor.

Hand sanitiser is one of the products people across the world have been panic buying in the hope of protecting themselves against the spread of the virus, but experts warn the product is far from a silver bullet.

Professor Marylouise McLaws, an expert in infectious disease control at University of New South Wales, told A Current Affair that hand sanitiser some may not kill the germs associated with the virus.
Coronavirus: How to wash your hands properly

I’ve known this. So I use hand sanitizer mostly in the car and stuff when I come out of some place. But I still won’t touch my face until I wash my hands.

Rhode Island to limit the number of people that can visit health care facilities and nursing homes

The policy restricts people from visiting staff or patients if they are under the age of 18 or if they are sick.

Additionally, officials have asked employers, if possible, to ask their employees who have traveled to China, Iran, Italy, South Korea, or Japan in the last 14 days to remain at home until they have been symptom-free for 14 days.

Rhode Island currently has two confirmed cases of coronavirus.
