I wonder what needs to happen where they stop saying the risk is low. Will they ever say it's high or just stop saying something in that vein.

Although politics are not allowed, politics (economics and supply chain) are calling the shots here. The message is that everything is great, a vaccine is in the works, billions of dollars are dedicated to getting it done, sit tight, all is well. At the same time, thousands of people are stuck on a cruise ship sucking in the virus, people are dying, contamination is fast, there is human to human transmission all over the world, it is un-contained.

Random musing:

I can’t believe this is freaking happening. This is crazy.
Reality has set in and it's getting to me too. Sadly, we have not yet seen the worst. imo

I’m just curious. How is it that South Korea, with a population of 51 million people, is testing hundreds of thousands, but the US — the richest country on planet earth — with a population of 360 million can’t get its act together? Please explain to me how this is possible. Thx

Has this been posted on the thread yet?

"'The influence of COVID-19 on the human body is like a combination of SARS and AIDS as it damages both the lungs and immune systems,' Peng Zhiyong, director of the intensive care unit of the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University in Wuhan, told the Global Times."

Coronavirus ‘like a combination of SARS and AIDS’

Do you all think this is true? It’s very scary?

It has occurred to me, that we on this thread, sound like we are going through the 7-stages-of-grief.

Basically it’s a waste of manpower, since it’s not very reliable. It’s probably more effective to have extra workers actually cleaning high traffic areas. IMO

I know what you’re saying, and I agree that many could slip through the screening process, but I would argue that the manpower involved with contact tracing and other processes after the fact would require a lot more manpower.

An ounce of prevention....

This is probably the biggest thing that has happened in the States since 9/11 moo (maybe I’m forgetting something).

We’ve had some horrific mass shootings...

Random musings.

Nobody has ever seen something like this before. Just ask China.

I have no idea - maybe some of our medical people on the thread can read the article and see if it makes sense to them.

I did read an article earlier today about a man who says he was cured of COVID19 by taking HIV drugs. I didn't bother reading it as I thought it sounded goofy, but maybe not? I'll see if I can find the article again...gimme as sec.

They should just get it over with and tell us we are all going to die.

I still think it's all gonna be okay, up here in Canada
but I'm sitting atop my giant stack of tp.

None of my family members are the least bit concerned but me. Am I crazy to be worried? I'm in Ontario where most of the cases are ... there is no hand sanitizer or N95masks near here.

ETA: my mom may be a bit concerned but she's elderly and has lived through wars and the Depression so she has a right to be IMO

Replying to myself.

"A 62-year-old man who became Spain’s first coronavirus patient is believed to have made a full recovery after being treated with an HIV drug, according to a report." https://nypost.com/2020/03/05/coron...y-recovers-after-being-treated-with-hiv-drug/

and this is of interest too:
"'Among the potential treatments is an HIV medication that may work to block an enzyme the virus needs to mature."
Doctors fight coronavirus outbreak with drugs that target HIV, malaria and Ebola

LEGAL

While we're on the subject of disease and death, it's timely to mention, that there's no time like now to take care of your legal affairs.

To prepare, Health Directives, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, Living Trusts, etal.
We are using RocketLawyer. Very easy, you complete online then print, and have signed, witnessed and or notarized.

It's free for the first 7 days, so you can do all this and actually get it all free. After that, it's $39.95 per month for continued legal papers (which we need as we're getting ready to sell our business).

My favorite place for reviews of any product is TrustPilot. They have excellent reviews there. *No I'm not affiliated, I'm just sharing with you the best way, I know how, to take care of this necessary stuff.

Funny you should mention that. Earlier today I was thinking that I've already done everything in life that I wanted to and I should perhaps write what I want someone to say at a memorial, as well as instructions about where to put the virus-infected cremated remains.

People need a Will, a duty of care, and power of attorney. Three documents. In some countries, a holograph Will is accepted - hand written, no witnesses.
