I'm sorry! I know how awful you feel, but 18 years? What a blessing to have her as long as you did!
When you are able to calm down, you'll realize that you didn't do anything wrong.
The fact that she died in your arms proves that you were looking after her and loving her!
Praying for comfort for you in the coming days/weeks. It's so hard to lose your best friend!!!
Moo
thank ALL of you ! I am having a hard time with both and this virus is making me nuts all I can think is DOOM is coming and I don't want anyone else to die, I don't want people to hurt like this, and its so widespread even worse than the crime stuff , I just need to calm down and eat some fruit breathe breathe

Warning! Stupid question ahead!
I’m wondering how you would go about disinfecting your home once someone in it has recovered from coronavirus?
I know we can wipe down surfaces with bleach, etc, but you can’t get to ALL the germs 100%.

I’m no statistician and definitely not good at maths, but looking at
Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS only 50% of confirmed cases have recovered so far?

I have zero restraint when it comes to these kinds of things. If I go somewhere that doesn’t have sanitizer, I’m going to say something about it.

Today was my second visit to the PT gym, and I made a point of looking around for sanitizing wipes to clean machines prior to and/or after use. There are huge buckets of them in strategic places around the facility. I wiped the "stepper" before and after I did my warmup and wiped my hands off, too. Haven't seen anyone there (staff or patients) wearing masks or gloves. I'm not taking anything into the facility besides my jacket, but if I ever need to use a locker, I will wipe off the combination pad.

Saudi Arabia suspends public sports events

The Ministry of Sports said that public attendance at all sports competitions would cease from Saturday 7 March until further notice, "in the interest of safety for all".

This was as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of coronavirus, reports said.

I really can’t see the Olympics going ahead as planned because some countries will refuse to participate.

Could be they can't find any.

Good point. I will still say something anyway. They need to get on the ball and make an effort at least. I did.

Additionally, if someone doesn’t practice respiratory etiquette, I will also be saying something about that too LOL (from a distance of course). This is probably another good reason for “fiery” Margarita to stay home, so I don't get into it with people.

ETA: I loved it when an article referred to Dr. Mike as “fiery” lol.

Wow, in Gainesville, Florida there's no hand sanitizer at most supermarkets and Walmart won't get a shipment until next week. I find that most of the seniors (including me) are concerned. The young don't seem as worried. Probably because statistically they have much better odds. We don't plan on going out any more than we have to but today was a real eye opener.

Ohio health officials open coronavirus call center staffed with experts to answer your questions
The Ohio Department of Health now has a call center to answer your questions regarding coronavirus, or COVID-19.

The call center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and can be reached at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634).

The call center is staffed with licensed nurses and infectious disease experts who will be available to answer questions and provide accurate information about coronavirus, the risk to the public, and Ohio’s response, according to ODH.

Not a stupid question. Hard surfaces are easy enough to clean. What about pillows and carpet. Even if there was glen 20 in stock ( I think that’s Australia’s version of Lysol?) that would get mighty expensive using it all the time.

Kind of leaves one hanging as to whether the antibiotics helped...
If antibiotics helped, he probably developed a secondary bacterial infection or it was coincidental, MOO.

I think I would toss the pillow used. Those get a direct hit from any kind of respiratory distress. Or wash it. Some can be washed.

Oh great, we have a confirmed case of a county resident here in our little town on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington. Apparently he brought it over from Kirkland.

I know this is a drop in the bucket compared to what's happening nationwide and globally but for me it brings the reality into my own neighborhood. IOW things are getting real. And uncomfortably close.

This Jefferson County resident is a male in his 60’s who received care at a Seattle-area hospital. He has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home. Initial exposure to COVID-19 was likely during a visit to a family member in Kirkland, WA, where community-level transmission is occurring. This individual spent time in Jefferson and Clallam County during the early stages of his illness.

Well, no wonder they asked me the Coronovirus questions 3 times today. Sounds like they’re as well prepared as they can be.

First batch of coronavirus tests at Sarasota Memorial Hospital come back negative

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Fourteen people are breathing a sigh of relief at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after testing came back negative for coronavirus. But hospital officials say additional patients are being tested.

The results from the first batch of tests sent out by the hospital on Monday were received late Wednesday night. According to hospital officials, all 14 patients had been hospitalized with unexplained respiratory illnesses. The hospital says the negative results are not considered official until confirmed by the Florida Department of Health and Centers for Disease Prevention and Control, but were shared to help with patient care and notification.

“We are happy to report that the results we have received to date have been negative, but there are many viruses circulating this time of year and many more tests that will be run. We have to remain vigilant and prepared for that to change,” said SMH CEO David Verinder.

Though that’s good news for some, the hospital is still treating a high number of patients with respiratory illnesses and sending out additional tests.

Right now, officials say they have no presumptive or confirmed cases of coronavirus. Anyone who comes to the hospital and meets the CDC criteria for possible coronavirus is put into isolation and treated with all necessary precautions while a battery of tests is completed to rule out the flu or other viruses.

If those tests come back negative, testing for coronavirus is completed and sent to state-run labs in Tampa, Jacksonville and Miami.

The hospital has opened a 24/7 coronavirus command center to provide staff, local healthcare providers, local nursing homes and others in the community with information and guidance. There is also a public coronavirus hotline 941-917-8799 to provide updated information and guidance on how to seek care without exposing others should a patient suspect they’ve been exposed.

From what we have learned so far, the virus can live on surfaces for a limited period of time. The problem is we (and they) really dont know how long for sure right now until they do extensive studies on the surface survival for Coronavirus, but they are basing their answer to that question on other Flu type viruses of which they have studied that extensively, and the general answer IMO is that this new virus can survive on surfaces for anywhere from 1-7 days or even more (seen up to 20+ days said somewhere) depending on the texture, temperature, etc of the surface, so it varies quite a bit, but they also have said, it should normally die off in the first few days.

So, how I am taking that news is that so long as I wipe down the main contact surfaces in the home like refrigerator handles, door knobs, remote controls, oven handles, and any other commonly touched areas, then anything i miss will hopefully die off in a few days.

With that said, if I am getting delivery boxes from anywhere at this point, I will wear gloves to open the box, remove its contents and leave the box outside for garbage pickup. As far as touching the contents, I may even spray it with a disenfectant if I need it immediately or I will let the contents sit for about 5-7 days or more if I dont need it right away.

Hope this helps. Its just my understanding about surface exposure and this virus. JMO of course.

What I'm about to say, we can't apply to the full population, but I've seen 3 cases in the past week in the US of 23 to 30 year olds in ICU. So it does happen.

Oh Sloane! I'm so sorry to hear this! My heart is breaking for you. I think many of us have felt what you are feeling right now. Please don't second guess what you did. You loved your pup and she knew that. Be kind to yourself. She would want that. (((((Sloane))))) You'll be in my thoughts and prayer for the loss of your long time girlfriend and your pup.
Thank you so much , you are all helping me xoxo. you have no idea how much .

By the way- my mom’s university? One professor told everyone that if anyone is sick, stay home. The other one who was coughing all over everyone two weeks ago told the students this week that they CANNOT MISS if they’re sick!

That really angers me.

That's some abusive bs right there. The students should report the instructor. They have more power than they realize. He crossed the line. So much can be done online now through Skype etc...
