AIPAC confirms that two conference attendees have now tested positive for coronavirus. I reported 2 days ago this was likely. There were 18,000 people there, including 2/3rds of Congress. On Tuesday, thousands of conference goers visited Hill offices.

Many here, along with medical professionals, have talked about cleaning hard surfaces like countertops, vanities, tabletops, appliances, etc. How do you sanitize soft surfaces like upholstered furniture, mattresses, etc.? Sheets, pillowcases, blankets, comforters can be laundered, but soft surfaces like sofas and chairs usually require professional cleaning. Same with carpets. Will vacuuming alone keep COVID-19 from lingering on carpeted areas?

I believe I read on here the cell walls are fragile and damaged by mechanical action, so you could probably just use a soft brush/vacuum to clean fabric surfaces.

Considering one of the cases came through their gates.....

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Aviation Authority released a statement on the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

They say that they are aware of the presumptive positive case and remain in contact with the South Carolina Department of Heath and Environmental Control (DHEC).

“The safety of our employees, passengers and partners remains our top priority,” said Paul G. Campbell, Aviation Authority Director and CEO.

“Foreigners” from where? Tia. I’m just wanting to track and keep up with the known sources/web of spread, as much as possible from a mapping perspective, etc.
Americans for sure....we already have cases that originated from there.

“I just saw 2 ladies argue over the last bottle of handsanitizer at a dollar store in Rockville, Maryland.
Some grocery stores are sold out.
I drove to the dollar store to buy a some more bottles & disinfectant wipes. A new shipment arrived & it soldout in 5 minutes #coronavirus”

Surprised someone didn’t tweet after my experience yesterday:

“I just saw four people at the grocery store arguing in line about if the coronavirus is all a government conspiracy, media hype, a concern only for old people and “just the flu”. Only one out of the four said it wasn’t.”

I saw a MSM report yesterday that apparently it isn’t uncommon for the person performing the test to get sneezed on. I’ll note IMO since I’ve looked for the link and unfortunately can’t seem to come up with it ATM

Can’t they wear hazmat suits to test?

50% efficacy rate? Ok, it works a little.

No. That’s not “a little”. That’s a lot. And again, you have to combine that with lowering the severity of the symptoms. So even if you catch the flu you would be unlikely to have to be hospitalized or maybe even see a doctor.

That’s huge!

I don’t understand the attitude about the flu shot. It’s like saying “Well seat belts only reduce the risk of death by 45% and serious injury by 50% so screw it. That’s not much.”

Are you kidding? That’s MASSIVE. Which is why we now have seatbelt laws.
Policy Impact: Seat Belts | Motor Vehicle Safety | CDC Injury Center

If there was a simple shot that could reduce our risk of cancer by 50%, that would be monumental.

The flu vaccine is ground breaking.

And BTW? If everyone got it then the rate of efficacy would skyrocket as we’d have the added protection of herd immunity.

Small town TX seems to be running normally. I got my wipes, even car size and there was no shortage. There was lots of water, no shortage on toilet paper, out of some odd ball things I needed like goat cheese and bay leaves. One guy was asked if was stocking up because he had a bunch of water but he was just buying stuff for a church get together. Didn’t look for hand sanitizer they had big bottles last time so I’m good I’ll just keep refilling my small bottles. No masks, no gloves on anyone, everyone was very chill, same for the feed store. This is county next to Harris where there are positives.

Going to take a break from the stressors and take the dogs for a 2 mile hike, wish there was sunshine but I’ll get quiet and trees.

I'm happy to say my parents are finally on board. My dad wore gloves to the post office to pick up mail today.....or he just told my mom he was doing that so she would shut up....lol. :D:D

not surprising. Now I'm waiting for the studies
on airline air ducts. I've long believed that it's
a dirty little secret and we're just not told about it.

I heard that airline air is supposed to be heavily filtered and sanitized.

It's cold and flu season. People are coughing and sneezing all over the place. It's not really culture in US to stay home unless you have some serious symptoms. Probably because nobody will pay you to stay in home. And covid starts off mild and then can turn very serious so that's really not good.

We were always advised to stay home when sick even with basic colds. I do not go to work when ill. It's common sense.
This isn't new advise from the CDC. Basic 101.

I wonder about that, too. I did watch a video on one of the posts that was geared toward college students who live in residence halls, and they said to change your pillow cases often. It would be good to know more about how to treat soft surfaces as you mentioned.
